Does the Fox 4K broadcast…

Does the Fox 4K broadcast for you have a slight delay? I have Xfinity and watch in 4K but it is about 10-15 second delay from the HD stream.

Funny you mention this…

Funny you mention this. During Harbaugh's first (or second?) year, I went to the MSU govt relations shindig they have before the MSU/UM football game in the MSU practice facility. The Governor and both University Presidents spoke, both ADs attend, and a variety of other "important" people go.

During Schlissel's speech he ended it with a loud "Who's got it better than us?!?!?!?" It was super cringe at the time especially in light of a huge MSU crowd lol.

I also held the door open for him leaving the bathroom and realized how tall he is...

Lived in Wisconsin before…

Lived in Wisconsin before moving to Michigan and going to Michigan. Probably would’ve ended up at UW if I didn’t move. Wisconsin fans are Alvarez people. They HATE Bert for supposedly backstabbing Alvarez.

Had this happen when I was…

Had this happen when I was growing up. RE agent selling house insisted on listing house $X00k. We insisted list at $X + 50k. Home literally sold within a day to family represented by agent at same brokerage. To say that was money almost lost is an understated.

Relo company paid all seller commissions so it makes you think whether selling agent knew someone had a client with a certain budget and was trying to sell to that budget vs represent their client.

Honestly very ironic. I…

Honestly very ironic. I guess that's what I'm doing lol.

Just a total reflection on…

Just a total reflection on the state of the country right now. People live in echo chambers and this is the result when two echo chambers collide tbh.

Don't know enough though to see who is right or wrong in this matter. Nor do I care.

No he's tied with DPJ and…

No he's tied with DPJ and Tarik Black.

I've lived in Lansing and…

I've lived in Lansing and Columbus... Lansing is not as bad when MSU sucks.

Minus the OSU madness Columbus is very nice especially if you make friends with people who went to like Kentucky or Louisville for undergrad and do not give a shit about OSU. Ironically most OSU fans I met while in Columbus (who went to OSU) were not as confrontational as State grads.

We always do extremely well…

We always do extremely well against the service academies for some reason. No idea why to be honest. Not concerned at all even if Army was in the top 25.

My favorite gun to shoot is…

My favorite gun to shoot is my .380 Glock 42. Feels like nothing, but this will be a very unpopular opinion.

I wish I could get my Remington 11-48 to eject target shells for clays. If it could do that, it'd be my favorite (although not a handgun).

I really started to enjoy firearms after growing up in a family without any. Dad was a long time military officer, but totally got rid of firearms once I was born. I enjoy learning their functionality and tinkering I guess like some people do with old cars. However, it's much less expensive.

I'll probably rethink firearms etc... once I have children.

Lived in GB for 10 years…

Lived in GB for 10 years. Many of our neighbors didn't lock their doors who grew up there (on the other hand my family is from the east coast and locked everything). It's very safe. Not saying stuff doesn't happen, but just drape a blanket over your stuff and enjoy.

The area where the stadium is is very safe and suburban.

The monstrosity that is now the new Lambeau is also the tallest building in Green Bay. The area next to Lambeau from what I've heard is completely re-done. Back in the day there was a plaza literally across the stadium with a Big Lots and Play it Again Sports....

I second Bovada, cashing in with cashapp, and cashing out with Bitcoin. However, look into getting a bitcoin wallet other than coinbase to deposit FROM Bovada. Deposit from Bovada to that walllet - then to Coinbase. Then coinbase to your bank account.

Coinbase has substantial ties to the banking industry fwiw. Online betting from overseas sportsbooks is on the frontier of what is legal or not. I don't do it any more given this.

Do not get a check from Bovada. They will fix any issues, but I had a major pain in the ass getting issued a check from canadian bank with a return address of a native american reservation in quebec (IRC).

The lines on Bovada IMO are not as bad as people say.... Plus it works.

What's the deal with all the…

What's the deal with all the so-called experts saying Michigan does not have a lot of size? Teske is one of the tallest centers in the country.

Also, living in the Lansing area I hear this a lot from Sparty fans which boggles my mind too...

I was a senior during 2014/2015 and they canceled class for the first time since 72 (I think?). Ironically they had classes the day prior which was colder.

I walked and actually did some hw in the fishbowl during the day we had canceled class. Why I did not go to the bar or get smashed at home I don't know.

I've always liked Cafe Felix (even though I see reviews of it aren't as good as others). I'm partial to French cooking though and it also has a pretty nice atmosphere.

Very good, but its a brazillian steakhouse (there's another chain called Texas de Brazil which I thought was the exact same quality). Essentially all you can eat. You turn over a green/red coaster thing and the servers will give you as much meat at you want.

The big scam is the nice salad bar they have (and offer) before the meal. Don't fill up on salad - fill up on meat and get your $80 worth or whatever it costs now.

This actually sounds pretty fun,  I might make the trip if work allows.

Figured I'd beef this up…

Figured I'd beef this up with specific pros and cons of Lansing/the burbs

Pros

- Cheap COL. By cheap I mean extremely cheap and pretty good housing stock.

- Great public school systems (however doesn't matter w/ no kids)

- Nice to have an airport for a city so small

- Stable economy: MSU, State Gov, Insurance Co's, GM....nothing seems to be all down at once which insulates the area from Detroit-like boom and busts.

Cons

-Nightlife - either college bar, old people bar, or kind've a rougher crowd. Not much of an in-between.

- Sparty - 99% of MSU grads are awesome people. But being a younger guy you always get shit from the hardcore Spartans who are equivalent to our worst fans, and average O$U fans.

- Roads - they suck

- City income tax - I would strongly suggest not living in Lansing (current income tax) or EL (impending income tax). Also if you work in Lansing (which I don't) you are also subject to it.

- Politics - even local politics gets amplified here by people in the political "know." Similar to living in DC where some people take their lobbying jobs/legislative director jobs too seriously (to the point of trying to look totally awesome to people).

I spent a year in Columbus…

I spent a year in Columbus and will have to say having never been there it is a pretty kickass City if you enjoy midwestern towns. Loved that traffic was always smooth....

Same here... Surprising…

Same here... Surprising amount of not only UM grads here, but also UM fans. It seems like every automotive worker + family is a UM fan and Sparty only really dominates EL and Okemos/Haslett.

Generally, I like how close Lansing is to GR, up North, and Detroit. A little small though when there's no like trader joes etc... Airport has some nice flights direct to MSP if you want to go out west or else DTW is 1 hr away. Basically everything in MI is 1hr away from Lansing.

Oakland, Toledo, Depaul, and…

Oakland, Toledo, Depaul, and Kent are pretty decent if he had multiple D1 offers.... I mean he's not a blue chip, but it's not some guy with one D1 offer.

Not totally sure if I…

Not totally sure if I believe this, but I'll bite. I doubt they do this because South Bend has been making lists of "top 50 most dangerous cities in the US" recently and their mayor has been mad as hell because crime reporting stats are not uniform. - Source: Went to ND for grad school/reading the SB tribune often.

FWIW I like Youtube TV, but…

FWIW I like Youtube TV, but some of my friends said all the movement was weird when we watched a Michigan bball game.

I went to a school of about…

I went to a school of about 1000 in SW Michigan. Graduated in 2011. My class had IIRC 6 got to UM. Mlive posted an article about where hs students are going to college in MI. I think my school's 2017 grad class had 1-2 go to UM. Really shocking how much harder it is these days.

Most if not all the TVs are…

Most if not all the TVs are manufactured by the same people/companies regardless and have similar hardware unless you’re buying a super high end television.

FWIW if you have the right…

FWIW if you have the right Netflix you can stream 4K and HDR content

Because they’re relatively…

Because they’re relatively inexpensive all TVs will generally be 4K. The biggest thing now to watch out for now is not resolution but refresh/motion rate especially if you like sports (I’m not a huge tech guy so this terminology may be wrong). I’d recommend at least 120Hz if you can afford it. I use my 4K TV to play games, and watch Netflix in 4K and it’s great.

For brands, I have an LG that works great with HDR. Vizio (although cheaper) seems to be a good TV and I have one that’s about 5-6 years old going strong, but relegated to the bedroom.

If you are somewhat tech inclined - go to Newegg and buy a refurbished TV, you’ll save a ton of money. I’ve bought two and have had no issues with either. Some say to only buy refurbished that are offered with a warranty (and don’t buy the warranty) but YMMV. I also bought an open box sound bar and that works great and I saved probably $350 by doing so.

I went to ND and Michigan and

I went to ND and Michigan and received an email about buying UM tix in South Bend, not saying that could change....

Yep Ford is "reliable" now,

Yep Ford is "reliable" now, but just now doesn't give a shit about their customers. Bought 2011 Fusion Hybrid (fully loaded brand new). Found out over a year ago (from Ford) and going on two that no one should use the front passenger seat due to Takata airbag. Ford I guess is in a dispute with the Feds about the recall and therefore has no parts to replace the airbag (AFTER OVER A YEAR GOING ON TWO). Oh and no dealer wants it because of no part/can't sit in front.

Will never buy a Ford again (after buying three brand new in the last 15 years).

My CRV has been great no

My CRV has been great no problems at 112k miles. However, the AC just blew out and everything online says it is most likely the compressor (very common issue) and will be a 1-2k job. Not sure what I'm going to do now since it's a 9k car. Might need to get a new car tbh if the dealer will give me a decent deal.

FWIW that could have been the

FWIW that could have been the vision for UM in its inception, but just from my own families anecdotal evidence, you'd be hard--pressed to find any 'common men' attending UM from its inception to maybe the 1950s onward (post GI bill).

Lived in Columbus for a a

Lived in Columbus for a a little over a year, but S/O was still up in MI so on the weekends I'd go up a lot. Once you get N of Findlay you start start seeing UM fans...

Also ironically High St (Columbus/OSU version of state street) runs/turns/ into/is US 23 - The hwy from Ann Arbor to Columbus (well besides when it turns into 75 etc...)

You drive around in areas

You drive around in areas with bad neighborhoods for a good laugh? Wtf??

Yep I played for lakeshore

Yep I played for lakeshore back in the day. BH has a cool one side set up. The one thing though is because you were so low and close to the river the field is full of mosquitos. Locker rooms are a country mile from the stadium similar to Niles

BCC has a pretty impressive stadium too. Also as the visiting team you have to walk under it in a tunnel to get to the lockeroom right past the opposing fans. That was fun!

We're getting a lot of

We're getting a lot of players from the NE. I wonder if we'll soon have about 1/3 of the team (including Don Brown) with some variant of a NE accent. Would be cool.

I didn't experience hazing

I didn't experience hazing like that at all and would say it's very uncommon. I went to a pretty large school, but in a small town. The older kids would ride on you when you're younger (esp. because we shared a lockerroom) but nothing like that.

Closest thing to hazing I saw was basically older guys who thought it'd be funny while they're heading to showers to stand close to freshman etc...

Yes. Your son will most

Yes. Your son will most likely just get a fake ID (like every one of my peers who went to college in Chi) or go to bars where they don't check and go wild. It's college sadly.

I never understood U-M on

I never understood U-M on this one. I almost didn't go to UM back in the day when pre-admits to Ross were impossible and they only took like 40% of people who applied to the school. I was set to be an accounting major at another Big10 university, but (1) got a gf who I'm now engaged to in MI; and (2) did not want my parents spending OOS tuition on me because I got directly into their B-School.

What it did was force many Ross "rejects" into Econ (what I minored in) which prepares you IN NO WAY (well maybe a little) for a career in Business.
