... but really, I hate anybody that does the job he does. I just find sports radio to be so, so, so painful. I like sports -- the gladiator in the arena -- and I like thoughtful analysis. ... all businesses have the right to find any legal revenue stream they can. Mgoblog is a media company. It benefits from advertising revenue, associates revenue from companies like Amazon, donations from readers, and paid content like HTTV. This is what Brian does to pay his bills, pay his staff, and keep the lights on in order to pursue his passion (even if it is slowly killing him, as this season has shown).
The owners of Blimpy Burgers also have the same right. While I don't question your right to be offended, because that's just like your opinion, man, it seems an odd thing to care about. Don't donate if you don't want to, bitch if you want to, but you're wrong.

... what revenues + other good will does Nick Saban bring in vs. his cost and what revenues + other good will does the next best alternative bring in vs. his cost. obviously, estimating those things is difficult, and defining a time horizon for which to evaluate this is challenging, but the process should determine if he is "worth" it.
Given where the program was before him, the risk associated with change, and the direction his program is pointing with him... my guess is he is worth an extra $3MM a year just in "good will", which will be funded by rich dudes who like to see their alma mater win championships.

Is silly. Just look at recruiting rankings the last 6-8 years, then look at bowl records and the scores of the BCS championship games. The SEC is 9-1 in BCS championship games. The only losing team was LSU, and they lost to... Alabama.
Is the culture of football corrupt, and can it really be called "student" athletics? That's a fair question. But questioning whether the SEC is the best conference in football is a foolish endeavor.

... but I honestly think you drop Hoke. I just think he's in over his head and outside of recruiting (important) and tough guy soundclips (infuriarting when not backed up by actions), he offers nothing. I'm certain we can get as strong a recruiter who can actually coach, as well.

... that replacing the alumni band with a DJ is not a crisis. What is horrible is the effort to disguise this as a result of being oversold, if in fact there are tickets still available. I'm still not clear if that part is true.
It's frustrating that the AD doesn't have any balls in their approach to communicating these changes. The moves look cynical and their reasoning disingenous as is.

Do I agree with him? Not always. 29 runs and 29 yards, regardless of execution is bad game planing. But I appreciate the insight he brings in.

... again, caveat about me knowing nothing about football, but it seemed to me some of the issues with Fitz this week were more trust issues with Devin Gardner.
A couple times I felt Fitz had a good stick, but Devin still hesitated or got distracted or folded. I don't know if that stick is too far in the backfield, but I felt Devin was expecting failure and planned for it, rather than taking a couple extra steps to the side or back while keeping his eyes upfield. I can't blame him for his lack of trust, but I'm not sure it's all on Fitz either.

... I readjusted expectations to be 8-4 or 7-5. I'm still sticking with that even with how bad Nebraska and NW look. MSU is the deserved favorite in this game. They are simply a more consistent team and have shown the ability to out game plan us over the past several years.

Sure, it's nice they helped, but I don't think it's worth a giant write up or that we should be making heroes out of these guys for it (not that the OP was doing that). I think it's the expected behavior for anyone in that situation. Now if they started taking pictures and posting on Twitter with #LOL, that would be worth noting. Helping a guy who crashed right next to your house is not note worthy of the press.
Maybe the only hero in this is the unknown guy who took the lead.
