Does anyone know how Does anyone know how graduation rate is calculated, particularly as it relates to football players?

Seems like you would have to remove any early NFL draftees. There's also a coach in stability factor as it relates to stability / continuity (e.g., more transfers associated with coaching turnover).

The point is that Saban's tenure and the nature of Alabama vs, Michigan's program is not comparable on the same basis. Not to say these metrics won't improve under JH, but he's only been here 2 years.

In this case, the two are In this case, the two are intrinsically linked, albeit more due to coincidence than intention. If Clark had been given his 6th year, it would be good for both the team (presumably) and Clark. Therefore, complaining that he didn't receive his 6th year is effective equivalent to wanting the best for Clark.

The NCAA is good at one thing: polarizing an otherwise like-minded group of individuals against themselves.
Though that I, a low point Though that I, a low point guy (I'm sure, although I don't even know where to check), would respond on behalf of "low pointers" everywhere...

I enjoy the content from both the blog writers and users. I'm not always compelled to share my opinion, as I'm either taking a quick pass through the app or just don't have anything meaningful to contribute. I wish others used the same discretion to keep content at a high level.

That said, I'm not sure which low pointer comments you're referring to, so I'll generally say that yesterday's game exposed our team. I don't think it's fair to say the team is "shitty" - it isn't - but it's also not elite. It's ok to say so.

Low pointers are people too. Please don't stereotype us. It hurts our feelings.
Doing my part to keep it Doing my part to keep it alive...

I'm sure he had between 3 and 9 reasons why this was the right time to declare.
I think you could argue Utah I think you could argue Utah last year had a mobile QB. Although we temporarily knocked him out of that game, be basically won it for the Utes himself.
Their impending dissolution Their impending dissolution gets zero fakes out of five.
This literally is a joke. This literally is a joke. Unless it's not, in which case Trump is likely watching MGoBlog users' every move (thanks a lot, Putin). This many intelligent individuals in one forum cannot be good for a 1984 government.

In other news, Buckeyes and Spartans are free to gather on their forums uninhibited and unsupervised.

This is a joke. Unless it's not.
I agree. Why leave an elite I agree. Why leave an elite program (ya, I said it) to coach FAU? Even if it's a title promotion, the task of winning to get the "next one" is a challenge. Drevno is better off waiting for the right opportunity; see Narduzzi and Herman. Even Durkin took a B1G position.
Better get used to these Better get used to these outcomes, unless we can start beating OSU. The UM v. OSU game is likely to be a play-in de facto quarter finals game every year. Unfortunately, with OSU recruiting solely 5-star players (sigh), UM is going to have a tough road. We squandered the OSU "rebuilding" year. Our "next year" is probably 2018 or 2019, unless OSU has QB issues sooner. On that note, Barrett will probably be back next year. Hopefully he still doesn't remember how to throw downfield consistently.
Not sure if the info is Not sure if the info is readily available, but I'd be interesting in seeing a bar chart of all B1G games over the last [3] years with number of penalties called on each team (axis 1) and resulting number of yards (axis 2). If ranking from greatest to least, I imagine the OSU 2 for 6 yards would be one of the lowest totals. Would be even more interesting if you could find correlation with specific refs (although the crews often change, right?).

There has to be a way to statistically prove bias officiating (see Freakonimics sumo wrestling example).
Reminds me of the study done Reminds me of the study done in Freakonomics wherein the authors discovered rampant match fixing in Japanese sumo wrestling league and teacher cheating on standardized tests (to make themselves and school look better).

The authors used some very creative statistics to definitively prove cheating. Unclear to me what that would be in this case, but in sure someone smarter than me could definitively prove improprieties in a league/conference. Hard to do on a single game basis due to outlier data cases. Need to study broader dataset.

Perhaps a study that traced "favored" teams through big games or rivalry games?

I'm sure there are statisticians and economists amongst us that could figure this out and probably get famous for doing so.
This. On my way out the door, This. On my way out the door, my wife questioned how this was different than any other day and any other game. She is mad at me for watching and not spending the same time with family. FML
No need to chains. Start No need to chains. Start exactly on 25 yard line in OT; meaning 15 YL is the first down line.
As a reality TV show "star", As a reality TV show "star", we should also add that he is now fully qualified to run (and win) the presidential nomination in 2020 and beyond (assuming he's 35 years old by then; thank you founding fathers).
Agree that SEC will want this Agree that SEC will want this pre-formation banned, probably after we roll Alabama. However, I don't see how it's different in concept than a huddle.

In addition, if this practice were to be banned, Harbaugh would just come up with another formation (perhaps 2x5 or 3,3,3,2 "soldier formation"). The possibilities are endless. Not sure how you could anticipate and ban them all... at least in the short term.
Add Iowa/Ferentz (nice Add Iowa/Ferentz (nice contract extension timing) and TA&M/Sumlin (thought they were turning it around, but if they finish poorly, fans' angst will crescendo).
Not sure what prompted your Not sure what prompted your post. Of course you want guys with great work ethics that play hard and want to complete. Harbaugh sets up an environment to weed out the players who don't fit this profile. Give Jim talent (4 stars plus) and the rest will take care of itself. If we want to compete with Alabama, Ohio, etc., that's what it will take.
I hear you. Although it would I hear you. Although it would imply a closer game, I almost wish that Peppers' safety return was a game winning score, just so that State fans could feel what UM fans went through last year. Alas, life is not a movie script.
I think a certain I think a certain sharpie-toting head coach would also disagree (while challenging a spot or faking a punt up 30 in the 4th quarter).
Agree with your sentiment Agree with your sentiment regarding Harbaugh's competitiveness. If we do run up the score to that extent, my hope is that it happens with our bench playing the second half. First, more demoralizing. Second, lowers probability of impactful injuries. Third, illustrates just how far the Spartans have fallen since getting exposed in the CFP by Alabama. Fourth, solidifies the message that all the best players in Michigan go to Michigan; take this away from MSU, and their banishment to irrelevance will be completed.
Of the baked, low-salt Of the baked, low-salt variety.
In the past, would agree, but In the past, would agree, but this MooU team has played so poorly, it's hard to imagine a set of circumstances that result in anything but a UM victory. Unless some mouth breathing Spartan pulls the proverbial fire alarm (bomb threat?) or East Lansing is engulfed in a meteor-induced crater, this contest only has one expected outcome. Go Blue!
Agree with this. The greatest Agree with this. The greatest level of disrespekt can be inflicted not by running up the score (also good), but by executing in a similar fashion as in games with Hawaii, Penn State, Rutgers, and (1H) Illinois. Play every player who makes the trip. Have Henderson (or some other guy we've never heard of) score 3 touchdowns to end the game. Added benefit of avoiding late cheap shots to our starters, which you know are coming. I would not want to be at the bottom of a fumble pileup with this pack of green and white, in-a-corner, nothing-to-lose (or play for) wild animals. Go Blue!
As a fan base, we've As a fan base, we've forgotten what winning consistently and convincingly looks like. The team is playing with confidence and expects to win each week. We fans should too. I vote we throw caution to the win, stop saying what's politically correct, and begin doing what Harbaugh would do if he was a fan of his own team celebrating with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. Just win? Yes. But expect to be great. Expect to win. Expect to be champions. First the B1G, then the CFP. Anything less, and we disrespect what Jim has endeavored to build (or restore). Go Blue!
Disagree. Unbridled Disagree. Unbridled expectations after 10 years stuck in college football purgatory (hell?). Let the team and the coaches temper their forward-look horizon; as they should. As an avid, lifelong fan, I'm championship or bust. Go Blue!
