|5 weeks 3 days ago||Is it really any different than a regular college football Sat?||
Unless I'm at the Michigan game, I am extremely happy to watch a "primary game" while knowing I have a few other choices to switch to during commercials. Or if I'm at a bar, it's nice to have different TVs to look at.

And JOK didn't pull the trigger. But he drew a late hit from the Indiana D, so there's that I guess...
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Pep||
I had seen Peppers do that same move earlier in the year, when he faked like he was going to field it. At the time, I thought he was being a bit cheeky and kind of liked it for that reson alone. But now I see the value, and what value it is!
|10 weeks 3 days ago||Not irrational at all||
1. Exposure to the constantly playing Tomahawk Chop song
2. They tore up the grass from our field to take as a victory memento.
Either one of those reasons alone would be rational enough.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||Agreed||
Athletically, Maryland at least brings something to the table in basketball. And football isn't any worse than Purdue or Illinois-low level teams that occasionally have good years. But Rutgers just has nothing and was simply a money grab to get BTN in the NY-NJ viewing area.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||OMG Yes! But the weird thing||
OMG Yes! But the weird thing that makes me hate Oklahoma's fight song so much is how it just...ends. It's like whoever wrote it had no idea how to bring it to a graceful finish, so they just stopped. It's always bugged the hell out of me.

I actually never paid close attention to FSU's song until they came to Ann Arbor. And then living through that constantly playing almost the whole game pretty much causes me to twitch every time I hear it now.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||I'm giving them total props||
They were only off by 1 year, and they also predicted the existence of a Miami based MLB team. Not bad, Doc Brown. Not bad.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||Excellent point!||
No way AA Pioneer could be ready for a Friday night game, unless it was a day off school for them. The logistics of trying to get high school students out while letting RVs in for tailgating are just about impossible. Moreso if Pioneer has any sort of activities on Friday night, like say, a high school football game.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Eh.||
I don't know about missing NFL talent as much as comparing the college and NFL talent. He knows what it takes to develop from a college player to an NFL level one and he wants to instill that in his players. He gets NFL level execution out of his guys, we're looking at undefeated seasons and National Championships for years...decades...centuries.
What, you don't think Harbaugh could coach for centuries?
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Cole held his own...||
...and was sick most of the week. So there's definitely that!
|10 weeks 6 days ago||I'd rather have a trophy...||
...than not. But let's be real here. The Paul Bunyan trophy was not a "thing" until MSU treated it like the Lombardi trophy. No one outside of the state of Michigan really knew about it until Sparty started showing it off on the field for all the national coverage to see. It means a lot for them to have it. For us, it's a nice benefit of stomping an in-state rival.
|11 weeks 5 days ago||I don't know why...||
But for some reason, the attempt to "fix" it by lengthening the top line of the first E really, really makes me laugh even more. This is the very definition of trying to polish a turd.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Hmm...||
I don't want to throw stones back in a knee jerk manner, but...
Seems disingenuous to say Michigan didn't prepare him for life when he only gave it 2 years. It's not a stretch to think that a kid leaving after two years of college may not have put in the time to obtain the skills necessary to navigate life as a professional.
And claiming it's a coach's job to handle a personal issue? I'm sure any coach would do their best to help one of their players, but you can't expect to be spoon fed. I find it difficult to believe John Beilein would not help a player having problems.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||I wonder...||
The use of damn may not necessarily a bad thing. It could be be an expression of incredulousness. Like when Jordan Lewis one hands an interception, it easily becomes a good "Damn!" Or probably more accurately..."daaaaaamn!"
|11 weeks 6 days ago||One workhouse RB would be nice||
But I certainly have no problem updating our idea of Michigan football to feature multiple great backs like we have. Having this rotation on defense, RB and TE is not only great for keeping the team fresh into November, but creates a kind of depth and development that survives losing talent to graduations. The dropoff is lessened, and ideally is non-existent, as eligibility is used up.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||I want to say I got this from Jon Falk's book||
When Michigan wins that game, the Paul Bunyan trophy was never accepted on the field. It was never, and should never, be a big issue to take that trophy. I can say that I definitely noticed that it was only when Sparty started beating us that you would see Paul Bunyan be paraded around the field like it was the Lombardi Trophy or the Stanley Cup.
Personally, I hope the only time I see that trophy is in the case at Schembechler Hall. I don't ever want to see the team run it around the field like it was true championship hardware.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||I just realized...||
There may be another factor at play here. New York City is very heavy with Michigan students and alumni...probably heavy enough to piss off everyone across the river in Jersey because they hear about it so much.
|14 weeks 5 days ago||Well played, Hab||
|14 weeks 5 days ago||Solved by technology!||
How about watching the game on ESPN2 on your TV and stream other games on a device or computer via the ESPN app? I've been known to have multiple games on in my living room that way. It's the 21st century way of doing what my dad did by setting up the little TV next to the big one!
|15 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe I'm way off here...||
But I kinda like the idea of Les hopping on for the rest of the year as a "consultant." It would give him a way to come back for a little bit, keeps him in the game, and puts another set of very qualified eyes looking at the field or film. And frankly, if he really has lost it, Harbaugh doesn't have to listen to any of his advice. It's kind of a win-win. If he has good ideas, the staff works to implement them. If he's nuts, the staff just ignores him. Not sure how that would work from a hiring perspective, but Harbaugh seems to be able to create positions at will.
|15 weeks 4 days ago||Well...||
I would not call Mattison's situation "demoted." Sure he went from coordinator to position coach, but calling it a demotion, to me, has bad connotations. Mattison was asked to stay around because of his abilities and continuity purposes, and chose to stay around because of his rapport with the Harbaugh family, and having kids at Michigan. It was out of great respect for him that they kept him on, and reducing his role was something he was all for.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||Ooh...Jet's...||
Jet's is good pizza. I can see why they'd be inspired by that.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||So then bring it SEC||
You wanna put an Alabama camp in all 50 states? Go for it. Not only would Harbaugh not be scared, he'll have a guy participate in Every. Single. One. to see if you're doing something we should adopt. Whatever happens, he'll always do it better than you. And the students win by having more camps and more exposure.
Besides, with all that oversigning, no one's going to stick with their SEC commitment anyway.

I read it as we don't need Texas because they will cause Nebraska to leave and be a general PITA.

You use that word "Gerg." I don't believe it means what you think it means.

|1 year 11 weeks ago||That article on Harbaugh remembering Ufer||
This is one of many exhibits to present to someone who wants to perpetuate the "Harbaugh to NFL" arguments. It's laughable to think going to the Colts so he can reunite with Andrew Luck is even a thing, but this is one of the many ways to illustrate what being in Ann Arbor means to Harbaugh.
Part of me would love it if they could find a way to play a Ufer touchdown call, complete with George Patton horn, in the stadium after a touchdown as a way to reintroduce and perpetuate the legacy to new generations of students. But then the other part of me wonders if it could be done ina way that doesn't cheapen it.

As a child at the time, I just couldn't understand such a mistake wasn't corrected. My parents and teachers always told me to own up to anything I did wrong and correct it.
Ah...such sweet innocence...
Also, to this day, when I hear the USC fight song, I immediately start singing:
Time out for USC
It's time to pay the referee

I thought Macklin was dead?
|1 year 12 weeks ago||That's not quite the whole story||
Houston's coaches messed with O'Korn's throwing mechanics to make him fit their system. Harbaugh wants to restore him back to his natural method of throwing, which should give him a better chance of success than Houston's methods of "coaching him down."
