This is always my explanation to the 'they cheated' crowd, and it always ends with them having no rebuttal and just muttering under their breath as they walk away.

Eli Brooks, but tall!

When was the last time we had a PG that was this tall?

I thought we were pretty convinced that Johnell Davis wasn't coming to Ann Arbor.  Did that change recently?

Not just publicly comment -…

Not just publicly comment - the NCAA told all the other B1G schools about the 'investigation' that had just started and allowed them to get to work penalizing and publicly condemning Michigan for something not yet investigated.

This is the treatment that Warde, Santa, and the BoR authorized and condoned by dropping the lawsuits.

Warde is the guy that backs down in the name of appeasement.

Plus 1 not for you opinion - I think you're wrong.  But for having the balls to state such an opinion on this board, where going against groupthink mostly gets you killed.

JJ's best games are the…

JJ's best games are the biggest games, the ones with the most pressure to succeed, with the most eyes watching.  He'll be a fine top 5 draft pick.  Did you see the throws he made against OSU?  Including the one to Wilson down the sideline in 2021?  Or the one between the safety and LB to Wilson in the EZ just a few months back?

How many of the kids (adults…

How many of the kids (adults, really) attending classes at UM today could recognize who DRob is, understand his importance to the football program, and decide to offer such a ride in the few seconds they'd see him stumbling through a parking lot?

I'd say precious few.  And when considering the times we live in today, where you're as likely to be assaulted as taken up on an offer of help, even fewer would offer.

But if he asked for help - either a ride or an Uber call - I don't doubt for a second that he would have immediately received such help.

Pachinko?  Uhh, you mean Plinko?

Mostly puck luck.  Hockey is a strange sport in college - recruiting is weird enough that I don't really have a clue how it works.  But also the tiny colleges held voting control over the game writ large, which is why we have recruiting rules like we do and why we have a dummass tournament plan.  Especially for the regionals.  But Michigan has had some other-worldly bad puck luck in all the Frozen Fours they've participated in.  It's been so many, across so many different teams with different coaching staffs, that it defies logic while not being systematic.

This year was a little different.  Most of the time, Michigan has the stronger amount of talent on the ice.  Not this year...  Just getting to the FF this year was a major win!

While true, we also can't…

While true, we also can't summarily dismiss people who break a rule.  From what we understand, he was talking to a player (or players) about how to respond to investigators.  I'll suspect he was telling them to be honest - although that is a guess on my part.  Nonetheless, we all know that Warde always sides with caution.  And in this instance, caution means jettisoning Partridge without comment in hopes to appease investigators.

We also knows that Warde goes out of his way to appease outside forms of 'authority'.  He fined Harbaugh for honest (and rightful) comments about officiating post-2016.  He penalized Harbaugh for defending his players and program on Twitter multiple times.  He suspended Harbaugh and Moore in hopes of appeasing investigators over BurgerGate.  This is a guy with a demonstrable penchant towards appeasement.  I have no doubt that he fired Partridge quickly, without recourse, and immediately told the NCAA what he did and isn't he a good boy for doing it?

FWIW, Harbaugh was pissed about the firing.  You could see that in his clipped comments about it.

The direction of the mountain doesn't matter, either...  It'll go over one, just might be a little offline from where he was looking.

It was a late hit out of…

It was a late hit out of bounds.  Of course, I'm not convinced it was late, or out of bounds.  That call was as phantom-y as Duke's 'trip' in the 2nd last night.

"Seems to me VA was calling…

"Seems to me VA was calling me out for saying Harbs was a crazy and pushing the media narrative that we all hate and is untrue."

That's exactly what I was doing!  You're reply to me was (mostly) spot on, and I agree with a lot of what you said.  But I don't like calling it 'crazy antics' because the media (and opposing fanbases) use that term as derision towards his conduct.  I don't think his actions were ever out of line, or inauthentic, and I appreciate his defense of his program (even if Warde fined him for it - and he did).  I also don't think his interest in chickens is out of the ordinary - millions of people enjoy them as pets!  Quirky?  Yes.  Speaks his mind regardless of subject?  Yes, mostly.  Is not a robot like other coaches?  Yes.

Crazy antics?  No.  Certainly not in the way the media (I think Pete Finebaum coined that term for him) report them...  We would all do well to not push a media narrative we know to be false.

A sign of the culture this…

A sign of the culture this program has.  How many former coaches - either voluntarily or not - can walk back on campus a few months later without the new coach batting an eye?  Let alone being happy to see him?  It's unprecedented!  And not something the media will trumpet, either...

I have no doubts that Tom…

I have no doubts that Tom can come back this year and be a top 15 QB in the league, instantly turning some random team into a threat.  I also have no doubts that he should not.  Enjoy the retirement knowing the legendary status is in full glory, and not tarnished by some half-hearted comeback attempt that people will take out of context.

If your bored and maybe need some football in your life, I'm sure Kirk Campbell would appreciate some help with his QB room.  You know, just spend a day or two with them every now and then, not a full time coaching gig.  Show up, throw some pointers at them, talk to them.  I think that would go miles with the entire team.  Not to mention recruiting...

Negged for "crazy antics"…

Negged for "crazy antics"...

WTF, man?  What "crazy antics" did he do?  He played a football game the way kids all across America do  - shirts vs skins.  He climbed a tree to get a frisbee because a little girl asked him for help (David Long's baby sister).  He spent the night at someone's house because they asked him to instead of finding a hotel room.  So the fuck what?  He also defended his program via Twitter ONLY AFTER it had been attacked by some other asshat not associated with Michigan football.  He held football camps for high school players.

Tell me, were these 'antics' only for show?  That's what the media says, yet here you are pumping their water.  Nothing he did ever amounted to "crazy antics".  That was just a media term because they couldn't handle someone being authentic.

I'm with you in the eating of crow, though.  I had mine baked, with lemon garlic seasoning.  He was a very different man the last three years vs the previous three years earlier.  And Thank god for that!

Sorry guys.  I turned the TV…

Sorry guys.  I turned the TV on and Duke immediately went off for tripping.  Downhill from there.  You can beg me to oblivion, I haven’t watched much all year and shouldn’t have tuned in now.  I understand hockey stupistitions…   I’m sorry.

By "tubby" I suspect you mean AD Warde Manuel.  The guy who it should be known does not control NIL funding.  I mean, what a stupid fucking comment.

Also, Warde can be knocked for his acumen as an AD (something I do regularly), but personal insults are just sad.  It says more about you than it does him, honestly.

"“On the sand it was $120 a night, but across the street it was $80,” said Harbaugh, who chose the cheaper option even though he makes considerably more than $200 per day plus expenses."

Yep, that's the same Jim Harbaugh we know...  Cheap bastard.  You know he didn't lavishly tip the waitress for a couple of cheeseburgers.  Fuck off, NCAA.

And why didn't we know of this love for Rockford when he was here?  We fawned over Judge Judy...  WTH, man!!!  But whatever, his next job - wherever it is - will have some new folk hero he's always loved that we don't know about yet.

I watched the first 10-12…

I watched the first 10-12 minutes of the second half last night, and I went to bed secure that Purdue was outclassed and had no chance to win.  I was hoping Purdue would somehow win it, but didn't really think they could.  Same with Iowa on Sunday.  Buildng around one player is great, but you need a team to win it all.

Driving 6-7 hours to get…

Driving 6-7 hours to get into a totality area wasn't feasible, so I watched from the parking lot at work - across the street from Dulles Airport in DC.  We had mostly clear skies for the ~90% coverage.  Didn't get as dark as I'd thought it get, but it still looked pretty cool, and it did cool off temperature wise a bit.  Was fun to see, and I hope to see a total eclipse someday, but it'll have to be overseas.  When the next one comes through the States, I'll be 78 and probably won't want a drive.  I mean, I didn't want a drive yesterday!

It's very true in Virgina,…

It's very true in Virgina, also - Dollar General's everywhere!

May have been when Beilein…

May have been when Beilein was here.

Purdue basketball is not football.  Yes, the conference is the same and all that, but I'd rather see Purdue when a championship than anyone else in the Final Four this year.  Painter is a good person, and a great coach.  He wasn't one of the asshats calling for Michigan's head during football season.

I'd have about 7 hours to…

I'd have about 7 hours to drive to get to an area, then god knows how long to get back.  So nope, can't do it.  Kid needs schooling, anyway!  Virginia will be 90-some % covered, so it'll have to be close enough for what is probably the last eclipse I'll ever see.  I might be around for the next one in 2044, but I'll be 78 by then and probably be stuck in a home by the kid.  LOL!

That OSU game without Hunter…

That OSU game without Hunter was a career game!  A great performance when the team - and fanbase - needed it most...

Ha!  You think Michigan…

Ha!  You think Michigan would have been gong'ed off the court this season?

I do...

Yesterday morning I heard…

Yesterday morning I heard some radio guys talking about how well Indiana St was playing, and I briefly thought to myself - when did ISU get back into Final Four?  I mean, they haven't been relevant since Larry Bird was a teenager!

And then I remembered about the NIT.

But yeah, tell me again why UVA was in the NCAA tournament.  As a 10-seed, no less!

That's what it's shaping up…

That's what it's shaping up to be.  If the roster comes together as nicely as its trending, the bubble will be real.

Get the three or four core…

Get the three or four core players from FAU, and add Wolff, Rooths, and another guard (Essegian?), and I can see a bubbly year of 15-18 wins.  With that roster, a new coach, and the enthusiasm it all entails, I can see a much better year than the last couple we just had.

What a fall from grace. …

What a fall from grace.  Dude went from trusted Harbaugh OC coach at Stanford, San Fran, and Michigan, to being a quality control assistant at OSU.  Hope he saved that money from earlier in his career!

Guess he'll be pumping that well for a few more years...
