I was sitting in a lecture hall in Ann Arbor during that one. Felt my seat rumble. Realized it wasn't gas. Knew right away it was a quake.

Secretary of State in Oak Park. Wife's plate not eligible for online or kiosk renewal so have to sit here amid the misery and suffer thru the poor customer service.

I naturally smell like an ocean's breeze so deodorant really isn't a necessity for me but my great great grandfather was named Tom...so there's that.

Crest. Tom's. Scarlett. I'm Jewish so ISIS. Heat disease.

What you did there. I see it. My pet peeve is people who repeat worn out sayings and memes.

This is great. Interesting to see some of the outliers whose on-court success is not translating to recruiting success...and those whose recruiting success is not resulting in the expected on-court success.

Thanks for posting this. I said something similar in a recent thread regarding the recruitment of Jaylen Brown (although much less eloquently and thoroughly). I've not understood those who are so upset or despondent about Austin going on a medical scholarship.

Maybe the OP went to UM Flint or Dearborn? Too soon?
|1 week 4 days ago||The only thing this incident||
The only thing this incident makes me think of is my wife's grandmother (may she rest in peace). She always added an "s" to the names of stores or brands that didn't, in fact, end with an "s." For some reason, though, she always referred to Jameis' favorite grocery store as "Public."

Oh. And Ulis and Booker were not top five recruits.
|1 week 5 days ago||One can always find||
One can always find exceptions to anything. Mudiay was injured and Alrxander had issues with possible rules violations. I'm a total loser so I went back and looked at the top five recruits from '08-'14. Pretty much all of them started right away and left college after 1 or 2 years.
|1 week 5 days ago||Dude. You're crazy. He's not||
Dude. You're crazy. He's not going to come off the bench. There's got to be someone on here who could do an analysis of top five recruits and their freshman year role. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of them start the majority of the games in their freshman year.
|1 week 5 days ago||Seriously? You really think||
Seriously? You really think Jaylen wouldn't start? A consensus top-five player out of high school?

This is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing both of your sons on the field at Michigan Stadium (and hopefully mine in the stands as a student beginning in 2019)!

I'm amazed that anyone really thinks that Beilein will pass up the opportunity to bring in a transformative player in favor of keeping Hatch on the team.
There's no doubt that Hatch's story is incredible and inspiring, but Beilein has already gone above and beyond what could be expected by honoring his scholarship for this year.
Jaylen could make U of M an instant Final Four favorite...and could be the player to get the team to the "next level" of success and reputation...which could have a positive effect on recruiting and performance for many years to come. You don't pass up this opportunity.
There are other ways to live up to the spirit of the promise or obligation to Hatch. Medical scholarship. Team manager. Maybe one year as a walk-on and then resuming the scholarship after this year.
Put yourself in Hatch's shoes. You'd certainly realize the impact a player like Jaylen could have on the team and would be more than willing to give up your spot on the roster to help out the team...while still being able to be involved as a manager, trainer, walk-on, etc.

We're all Jewish. (and please refrain from any cheap Jew jokes)
|4 weeks 3 days ago||You're fortunate.||
My in-laws neither offer nor flinch when the check hits the table. I'm like "WTF?!?"
On the other hand, the only way to be able to pay when we're out with my parents is to do the before-the-meal credit card thing with the server.

Not that you care, but we probably couldn't be friends.
1. No shoes allowed in my house. Do you have any idea what's on the bottom of shoes? I can't even imagine and don't want to know.
2. Hair = food goes back to the kitchen. And, yes, I know that it is possible that they simply pull out the hair and bring the same dish back to me.
3. I have a 13 year old son and an 11 year old daughter and I think that participation medals are ridiculous.
4. 90 degrees? Indoor activities, please.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||For some reason...||
...I'm finding myself to be curious about your wife's rules for what constitutes an appropriate and "fun" table.
What are the criteria? Or is her level of table satisfaction random and/or subject to whims and changing preferences?

I'm reading this on the app so I'm squinting and holding the phone as far away as possible...and the lack of matching is still pretty obvious. Oy.

Finished law school but didn't take the bar as I had no interest in being an attorney and in spending the time necessary to study for the bar.
When I shared this news with my mother, she told me that maybe I should consider therapy because she couldn't understand this decision, based on the fact that I "always wanted to be an attorney."
I responded that it was actually she who wanted me to be an attorney...and that my position was that those who pursued a career in law were the ones who needed therapy.
Unfortunately, you can count me among those young Jewish males who felt obligated to attend either law or medical school...and given that my science classes consisted of "Plants, People and the Environment," the decision was pretty simple.
Not sure if things have changed at U of M, but I always felt as though there should've been more of an effort to provide career guidance for students...to avoid people like me making the decision to go to law school just because I didn't know what else to do after graduation.
(by the way, I'm not blaming my mother or U of M for me making the decision to go to law school)

Having to spend so much time and effort to defend the concept of your thread should be your first clue that maybe it's not the best topic.
