Note that it’s for the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Maybe if it were for the 1st round. Maybe. But not likely.

Wow.  There is a LOT to…

Wow.  There is a LOT to unpack there.

Sounds like he will fit in nicely in Columbus.

They are clearly NOT building the same type of culture we are seeing in Ann Arbor.

They might win a lot this coming season due to the stockpile of talent, but I don't think they are building a sustainable program.

Sorry to hear you lost your…

Sorry to hear you lost your father at such a young age.

My son was the one who first mentioned being interested in heading to Ohio.  I wasn't initially that interested in the eclipse...but knew it would be a memorable experience so I jumped at the chance to go with him.

It was also great to experience the eclipse in a "communal" atmosphere.  I know that some people preferred to watch it in a more remote/quiet/dark location, but there was something energizing about being in the BGSU football stadium and on its campus with thousands of other people.  About one minute before totality, the crowd started to roar and clap.

Picked up my son in Ann…

Picked up my son in Ann Arbor and took side streets all the way to and from BGSU. They had a fun event in the football stadium. Was a great experience. The drive was long but those hours alone with my 22 year old son are priceless.

I can confirm that Rutger is 100% coming back for another year.

This is Verified Veracity.

I'm guessing that a QB from the portal might still be in play.

If I'm a QB looking to play for a high-profile team that could contend for a championships in 2024-25, Michigan would look like the type of place where I could be the last piece to the puzzle.

MHJ didn't exactly "struggle…

MHJ didn't exactly "struggle" against Michigan.

2022 - 7 catches, 120 yars, 1 TD

2023 - 5 catches, 118 yards, 1 TD

An almost impossible to cover WR on a rookie contract would be a great asset to a team with a coming-in-to-his-prime Herbert as the QB.

It took me about twenty…

It took me about twenty watches of the Nazar assist to even fully comprehend what happened there.

Can someone do a frame-by-frame of that...like we sometimes get with the most interesting plays throughout the football season?

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY. …

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.  ALL OF IT.

Gotta love the local ties.

Gotta love the local ties.

Also gotta love someone with DC experience.

I think there's something to be said for getting coaches coming from smaller schools but with experience at a higher level than the job they are taking at Michigan.

There's a big difference between coaching a position group and coordinating an entire defense...even at a small school.

I've got you by a few points and can report that I am still awaiting my first loyalty gift...or opportunity to redeem my points for prizes.

Winning Imprints in Keego…

Winning Imprints in Keego Harbor can do whatever you want.  One of the owners is a friend of mine.  They have access to any type of tshirt.  I always recommend going with the tri-blend!

Call them and ask for Emma.   248-681-3191

I remember watching that game.

Going in to the game, everyone just knew that McCarty was going to go after Lemieux.

A love child of Jim Harbaugh and Melissa McCarthy's character in Bridesmaids would be something else.

When the hire was first…

When the hire was first announced, I was a bit underwhelmed.

What I've read in the past 12 hours has increased my level of whelmed-ness.

I don't typically believe in "getting the band back together," but having Beilein involved and some coaches with HC and high-major experience would definitely be a plus.

If he has The Internet I’m…

If he has The Internet I’m assuming he’s aware of the current situation at Michigan basketball.

Agreed.

Some coaches are a…

Agreed.

Some coaches are a better fit at a smaller program.  Brady Hoke is a perfect example of this.  Fine for the MAC;  not so much for the Big Ten.

I would normally agree with…

I would normally agree with you on the "up and comer" (that's what she said), but I think the situation right now calls for a proven, steady hand.

McDermott probably has 5-7 years left.  Pay him a ton of money and work with him to bring in someone as part of a succession plan.  "Hey, Mr. Up and Comer, you can work with me for 2 or 3 years to bring the progam back to where it needs to be...and then I'll hand over the keys to you."

I know the last few years…

I know the last few years have been tough, but I don't understand the "this person will get us back to being respectable" mentality that some people are expressing.

Michigan basketball may not be a "blue blood," but it certainly should be considered a top-20 program.  In the last 35 years, the team has been to five Final Fours...which has to put Michigan in the top ten or so schools for Final Four appearances over that time period.

Not to mention the prestige, the history, the enormous fan/alumni/student population, the facilities, etc.  This is a top 15-20 job by any metric or data point.  Maybe not top ten.  But definitely top 15-20.

I'd start with Greg McDermott.  He can get the program back to being top 10-15...and then it's once again a very attractive job when he decides to hang up his whistle.

Holy shit, those deep balls…

Holy shit, those deep balls were right on target.

I know we won the "natty," but man it would've been nice to see more of that from JJ in a Michigan uniform.

Winning is the top priority, but it's fun to see some basketball on grass from time to time, too.

We live in Birmingham and…

We live in Birmingham and have seen the same issues with cars. In the older neighborhoods along Woodward, most houses have detached or small garages...and also have narrow driveways due to the narrow lots. As a result, many people thus park in their driveway or on the street. Most of the cars being stolen or broken in to are unlocked(!) and many people even leave their keys in their car(!). The crime section of the local newspaper we get in Birmingham is like a hall of fame of bad decisions regarding unlocked car doors, valuables left in clear sight, and keys left in the car. I’m not “blaming the victim,” but there are simple steps one can take to reduce the chance of having one’s car stolen.

I’d look for an Airbnb downtown, in Midtown, or in Corktown. Any of those areas are safe and convenient for getting to sporting events and restaurants and bars.

We are staying at the Ace Hotel when we are in Kyoto.  Looks like a nice spot in a great location.  I'll definitely be having a drink (or ten) there!

Feel free to do so!  The trip itinerary is still very flexible.

My wife and daughter need to leave a few days earlier than my son and I...so thus the imbalance between Kyoto and Tokyo.  We need to get back to Tokyo so they can fly out...and then my son and I will remain in Tokyo and spend more time doing things that are more to his liking...probably mostly Akihabara.

So, it's four nights in Tokyo, three nights in Kyoto (but taking train back very late to Tokyo...so almost four full days in Kyoto), and then three nights in Tokyo...but only one for my wife and daughter.

We are going to Japan in May…

We are going to Japan in May in celebration of our son finishing up his one-year Masters of Science in Information.

Also looking for any tips from our far-flung community here on MGoBlog.  Spending 5 or 6 nights in Tokyo and three in Kyoto...with day trips to Kamakura from Tokyo and Nara/Osaka and Hiroshima/Mayajima from Kyoto.

Most interested in knowing what "must-sees" we should skip.  For example, I'd advise anyone spending three or four days in Paris to skip Versailles.

Traveling with 1991 UM Grad and 2026 UM Grad (in prayer on this one) and 2023 (undergrad)/2024 (Masters) UM Grad.

Yes!  Get him to commit to…

Yes!  Get him to commit to three years.  Build the program back up.  Immediately have him bring in a successor in waiting and mentor him...and then hand off the program.

Definitely go grab a meal at…

Definitely go grab a meal at York, which is on Packard just a mile from campus.  Really great vibe and atmosphere.  A few different restaurants...and lots of wine!  Sort of a mini, fun food court.  The BBQ place - Ricewood - is excellent.

I partially agree and…

I partially agree and disagree with your thoughts.

Certainly, it's become more "professional."

But, for me, the connection isn't so much to the individual players as it is to the entire experience and institution.  Both of my parents went to Michigan.  I met my wife at Michigan.  Both of our kids are current students.

There's nothing like that feeling I get when we exit on to Main Street on football Saturdays...and the buzz of excitement that you can feel as you get closer to Michigan Stadium.  Then, walking in to the stadium and getting settled in to the seats we've had for a very long time.  Finally, the emotions I feel when the team rushes on to the field to "The Victors."   Always brings a tear to my eye and/or gets the adrenaline flowing.

Were it not for Michigan, my life would be very different...and less rich.

The names on the jerseys don't matter as much to me.

Was told by “someone who…

Was told by “someone who would know” that Rutger is most likely coming back for a third year.

Bake Station!  But alas they closed. I miss having easy access to their seven layer cake.

Listen, it's undeniable that…

Listen, it's undeniable that the OSU football team is stacked with talent.  Plus, they went out and picked up a few players at key positions in the portal.

They probably should be considered to be the favorite to win the Big Ten next year.

It's been great for Michigan to be the dominant team the last three years...but let's not pretend that OSU is all of a sudden a doormat or that they don't have the talent to win the Big Ten and/or get to the Playoff.

Backup for Goff?  I’m sure he’d come cheap.

Nice comment, HE.  "S & M Barbie"

Not at all oozing with sexism and misogyny.

These numbers are inflated…

These numbers are inflated. There is no fucking way Keon Sabb got $2 million to transfer to Alabama.

I also do not have an email…

I also do not have an email from February 13.

As a season ticket holder, I've got emails from "Michigan Hockey" dated 2/2, 2/8, 2/9, 2/16, 2/21, 2/22, 2/23....plus dozens more that I received in January and before.

Seems odd that I would've missed or not received this email that was allegedly sent on 2/13.

EDIT:  It looks like a few people received an email this morning.  I also did not receive that email.  The only email I received from Michigan Athletics was a confirmation of my football ticket renewal.

We should enjoy watching him…

We should enjoy watching him over these last few games. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t transfer. A 3rd year Dug would be a great addition to a contending team.

Thanks for doing this,…

Thanks for doing this, TruBlu!

This confirms what many of us saw.  A group of very, very good - but not necessarily elite - players who took advantage of their relative experience, teamwork, and great coaching to win the championship.

It’s not having it both ways…

It’s not having it both ways. White people have not historically been marginalized.

I buy a lot of media in…

I buy a lot of media in metro Detroit. There’s no fucking way I’d advise my clients to spend even $10 or $20 for a commercial on 1270 am. Maybe $5.

Well, up until just a few…

Well, up until just a few decades ago, Black folks watched and listened to media and entertainment provided almost exclusively by White folks.  So, there's your answer!

This is doomed to fail,…

This is doomed to fail, regardless of the talent of the personalities.

Radio, in general, is dying out gradually.  While AM radio is dying even more quickly...especially signals like 1270, which are relatively weak and are at the end of the dial.

Harbaugh had a long-term track record of success as a football head coach.

Howard does not have the same track record of success.

I bet he drives around with a bottle of Grey Poupon in his Rolls...just in case anyone pulls up next to him and asks him if he has any on him.

Does anyone else have the…

Does anyone else have the feeling that the football team's National Championship has created a disturbance in the force?

Seems like almost all of the the other Michigan sports are struggling right now.

Agreed.  Those who are…

Agreed.  Those who are opposed to any common sense gun legislation love the "it's too soon to have this discussion" argument.

Fine, if it's too soon to discuss common sense gun legislation in light of this tragedy, is it too soon to discuss common sense gun legislation in light of the tragedy a year ago at MSU?

How long do we need to wait until it's no longer "too soon?"

This thread will probably…

This thread will probably get deleted or locked, but the argument that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is so comically and pathetically intellectually dishonest.

Other countries have people.  Other countries have mental health problems.  Other countries have divorces.  Other countries have social media and video games.  Other countries have "bad hombres" and shitty people who don't have any regard for life.

What is the one factor that makes America unique among every country?

The answer to this question reveals why America has by far the most amount of gun-related deaths.
