Talking basketball powers, I'd take Kentucky, if only to raise our batting average against the SEC. |

Unfortunately the Big 10 already tried that and the PAC 12 sashayed out of the deal. |

So here's the only way a sequel could work, and it's not a guarantee. People loved the characters from the first. Instead of submerging them into the same tired dialogue, give them a new stage. Why not focus on the one guy's dentist office, with the other guys playing big roles outside of work? Introduce them to different situations so that you don't have to make the same stale joke. Make it like a waspy midlife version of Barbershop somehow. If done right, it opens an avenue to new material with characters we already like. You don't have to get highbrow, but focus on the characters, not the recurring situation. Hollywood likes to chase it's own tail, but it makes for a bunch of crappy movies. |

Magnus, is the rap game a legit threat for Peppers, or do we feel he will likely go the conventional route and accept a college scholarship? |

I don't think anyone is debating it. We all called out the OP in this subthread for incorrectly calling out Heiko. |

It reminds me of ignominious, or equanimous. Also of a Quentin Tarantino character. |

I know our QBs had an extra blocker, but he should have been able to show at least something. It was a cold, cold year in terms of RB production. Barry Sanders was still Barry Sanders. Fitz is no Barry Sanders, but if there is no production, it's not solely due to the OL. |

| 1 day 11 hours ago | Where he goes wrong is |
Where he goes wrong is assuming that most fans don't understand the importance of setting the table. The general concept of running to pass and passing to run is pretty easy to grasp. The finesse is when to play to your strengths (Devin at QB and Denard at RB for OSU) and when to play away from your strengths to keep a team honest. If you play away from your strengths too much, then you're being counterproductive. And if you're handicapping yourself by trying to keep a defense honest with a guy who can't throw, well... All in all I like Borges, but I still think that second half of Ohio State could have gone much better... |

I like to think that by moving down to Ohio, I balanced that out a little bit. |
| 2 days 11 hours ago | From what I understand, there |
From what I understand, there would have to be some pressure applied to the parent companies in order to separate the channels. Google "a la carte cable" and you will get a variety of opinions. It's not a consumer slam dunk by any means. There's better content out there than I can explain on here. |
| 2 days 12 hours ago | I'd both hope and assume that |
I'd both hope and assume that the powers that be have a pretty good projection as to when bundling will be gone. That's why I think there is also a hidden value beyond the BTN. It'd be foolish to stake the conference's claim on the proliferation of the BTN. I think that was the immediate payoff, but the added population is still a bonus without the BTN, in terms of national exposure. Especially if one of the new teams bottles lightning and gets good for a decade or so. Also, recruiting. That is a more concise version of my initial argument. |
| 2 days 12 hours ago | I agree with your point, and |
I agree with your point, and that was likely a very large factor in making the call. But in addition to that, I feel like there were other reasons for the expansion that are more geared for the long run. If the TV revenue drops, there is still a net gain in regards to exposure and product potential with recruiting. Both of those won't happen overnight, but once fully assimilated, we may look at both new schools as important parts of the conference. |
| 2 days 12 hours ago | It does, but there are |
It does, but there are subtleties that separate the two situations. The NHL already had a largely national footprint. Moving to a desert seemed to be inorganic. There is good high school football being played on the east coast. But your point is valid. Making sweeping assessments of the situation makes you (me) sound unversed on the topic. I am, after all, largely unversed on the topic. |

Jim Delany is in control of an army of unpaid, highly athletic, tactically trained athletes. All he needs is a reason. Tell me this man hasn't thought of a hostile takeover at some point in his life. It would be silly not to consider it a plausibility.

| 3 days 2 hours ago | It is not inherently selfish |
It is not inherently selfish to pray or give wishes. I think that some people feel that some other people only do it to be seen doing it, like wearing a funny hat at the Kentucky Derby. Note all the ambiguous qualifiers... EDIT: Judging by the next several posts, it seems that my point is quickly proved correct. People bickering about how THEY choose to deal with it. Losing point of the whole thread. People lost lives, kids, houses, etc, but I'VE been inconvenienced by someone else's point of view! |

No. It's a sign that this thread is wandering too far in the "no touch zone" for the blog. I don't really have an opinion on it, just think that may be why it's being negged. Note the similarly negged post a few places above that leans to the other side of the religious debate... |
