I had the best night of sleep in 20 years… it’s the Harbaugh Redemption… we’ve crawled through ~20 years of filth and now Michigan is coming out free on the other side.
All of you who lacked steel in your spines should stay in your mom’s basement and let the rest of us enjoy this win before you start second guessing the staff again.
Two other major changes which bring long-term hope:
1. A 12 team playoff will allow talent to spread out across more schools and still participate in the playoff rather than allowing 3-4 ‘have’ schools to use this to recruit against the rest. Despite having that school down south in our way, Harbaugh’s teams would have been among the next tier in appearances in a 12-team format which would help recruiting.
2. NIL should level the playing field or even tilt it in our direction. Fire the Michigan Money Cannon!
So, not to add pressure, but a passable to good year this year can be a bridge to a promising future without the disruption of hitting the reset button.
I had a partial tear repaired eighteen months ago.
The afternoon of the surgery my arm was numb and I was thinking - this is weird.
The next two weeks my arm hurt like heck and I was thinking - why did I do this?
The next two months my arm got slowly better and I was like - how long will this recovery take?
At month 6, I was able to do push-ups in front of my doctor at my last follow-up appointment and I was like - why didn’t I do this two years prior when I first hurt my arm.
So, I recommend getting it fixed, just be mentally prepared for the first few months to stink.
At this point we should stay the course. Harbaugh is still the best coach we can hope for and recruiting is still well above RR or Hoke years. I wish they would be more multiple on offense based on the opponents defense game plan
Similarly, I wish Brown would put more beef on the d-line even if they don’t provide much penetration (especially against a power team like Wisc, I liked the 3-3-5 vs Army)
We do need a break-through to get to the ultimate level, but that level has gotten smaller and smaller as top talent has been concentrated at fewer and fewer schools. We are not the only fanbases of power teams on the outside looking in these days; Nebraska, Fl St, VA Tech, and on and on are in similar boats
At this point it’s Alabama & Clemson at the top
Georgia, Oklahoma and the cooler poopers next
and then a long list of the next tier where we sit (with Penn St & Wisc)
At this point it’s a two game season. Win at home against State and that School Down South and I’ll be 100% happy. Don’t even care about the Fig Things or Nits.
All the Fab Five put in a lot of time at Motts as undergrads. I had a few opportunities to interact with Juwan as undergrads and even at 19 years old, he was nothing but class.
I ran into Juwan a few times as undergrads. He was always an excellent ambassador for the school and sport.
...and now that we know that every other school has been blatantly cheating since at least the fab five era, we unapologetically should hang the final four banners.
Maybe they should do a similar exercise on football bowl games to highlight the inherent home field advantage of the SEC, Big 12 (at least Texas) and PAC 12 - oh wait we are talking about an espn offshoot here.
Thanks for a proper OT thread to counter all the trolls.
I enjoyed having guests back but the rest was, as you said, a little less fun.
They should also bring back the traveling tent.
We might give the world wide leader crap for their skewed coverage, but they nailed it this time. While most of this information has been discussed around here, the outside world was blissfully unaware until now.
The bigger picture with Penn State, MSU, the Tennessee rape incident and all the basketball recruiting malfeasance is that big money has hopelessly corrupted the priorities of those in charge of college athletics. It's no longer a few isolated incidents of points shaving or individual bag men paying recruits; it's now entire institutions covering up or looking away from wrong doing or in Pitino's case actively assisting in the wrong doing.
It's a sad day when we are forced to realize that there may be no innocence left in college athletics. I hope the MSU fallout convinces all other schools to take a harder look, and spare a few victims.
Harbaugh threw the game against Iowa to ensure OSU could not go to the B1G title game and to rob them of some motivation in The Game. Playoff committee would look more favorably on a road loss to Iowa than a home loss to Indiana. No real consequence for Michigan as the team still has everything to gain if they win out.
Would explain some iffy offensive play calling. (?)
I'm not saying it happened, but I would not put it past the grand chess master Harbaugh or Ernst Blofeld.
Loved the pics RGard, even the plane which the blue suited civilians keep trying to kill.
I'll take the Naval variety myself. I managed to keep a shell casing from a 5"54 when I got out.
Thanks to all those still serving, it's been tough duty the past 15 years.
These threads are so much shorter now that the fan base no longer thinks it is smarter than the coaching staff.
We need to study harder to get ahead of Harbaugh :)
If you have ethics - Accounting
If you don't - Finance
If you have a personality - Finance
If not - Accounting
If you want to be 'right' - Accounting
If you want to try to be rich - Finance
Somewhat kidding... Get the MBA with a lot of finance & accounting credits to make it worthwhile.

The rumor is that he was having trouble HASHing things out with Harbaugh. He had a lot more HIGHs than lows, even after multiple warnings, which in this case ended poorly for him.

Brian - "Denard's" timing was a week off... he should have known to arrive AFTER signing day, not the week before. (>24hours without the informative update)
I hope you have gotten the little guy home, I heard Harbaugh wanted him at the signing of the stars.

Drink whole milk, eat steak and build steel in our spines.
Kudos Alex… your FFF gave me hope and your analysis was excellent.
Bravo
Steel in spine!

Don’t look ahead… enjoy the rest of this year.

Agree… seems like the whine and cheese crowd stayed home and rabid fans were back.
Crowd noise was a difference maker with the false starts on the OSU offense.
All of you…
100% agree.

Ryan Mallet on the Generals as well.
TJ switched to OL, hope it works out for him.

A comparison of total deaths state by state would suggest that NY, NJ and MI did a MUCH worse job than Florida.
Numbers started to come down towards the rest of the country when those states stopped actively infecting nursing homes.

Sparty is back to being the Gimp. For a brief moment they escaped but now they are locked up in the basement again with Rutgers as they should be.
Gene Smith from Ohio State led the discussion.
He was chosen because Ohio State already had extensive experience in paying its athletes.

Have we reached our ‘Fire Beilein’ / ‘Fire Bakich’ moment with the football team?
We’ve got a scrimmage this week and two winnable games before the next test at Penn St.
If you had to lose one game, away at Wisc would be a good choice.
Enjoy not being 3-9 or 5-7 at the end of the year.

... nice distraction from all the 'crootin'.
I love that while the article is from the Colts media, the ring he's wearing in his charity's official picture is from MICHIGAN!
