It was basically a playoff game. One of the better NBA regular season games I've seen this year. The Thunder brought it.

Hate to say that if Michigan loses by 2, it will have exceeded my expectations here. State has found its groove, with Valentine back and healthy, and Michigan is living and dying with the three, playing subpar defense, and is without Caris Levert.
We are reaching the point where getting Levert back will have diminished significance, as there is not much time for the team to gel around him. Frustrating year.

I wholly agree with you. SC needs to professionalize the position, for its own sake. Seflishly, I have enjoyed watching the shitshow, however.
|1 day 21 hours ago||This was his hobby--I think||
This was his hobby--I think that is the root of the problem. USC has for the last twenty five years or so hired program dignitaries and not professional ADs. He has had a very successful career otherwise, and from all reports (I wound up at some events filled with SC booster types during my LA days) he is a good guy.

Pat Haden is a really good man, but he is too close to the program to be an effective AD.

Maine is, I am sure, due to a statistical anomoly (such as small sample size, I am sure).
There is something to the Nevada thing, however. Reno and Las Vegas are, I am sorry to say, hives of scum and villainy on par only with Ohio. I have been to both places dozens of times, and they are magnets for bail jumpers, deadbeat fathers, grifters, degenerate gamblers, check kiters, scam artists, bar room bullies, meth cookers, drunk drivers, ex-felons, and wife-beaters. The aforementioned low-lifes lean Buckeye, pretty hard.

I am concerned about how soft the schedule has been the last month or so. I look ahead and see only two games that should definitely be wins (@ Minn, NW). I agree that anything at or above .500 down the stretch clears the bubble--just not sure it is the most likely outcome here.

Taking a step back, the team has accomplished much without Caris Levert.
Having said that, Michigan is a bubble team unless Levert comes back and elevates the team for the stretch where it plays Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue, at Ohio, at Maryland.

Time was, it was Wyoming Park and Wyoming Rogers. Maybe they merged?
I think you need to analyze this situation from the perspective that a teacher was violent with a student, and not be colored by the fact that the teacher was a former Michigan player.

Hackett exudes professionalism and grace. Michigan was lucky to have his services during what was probably the low point of the football program.

I wanted to see them on that tour they did last year, but the closest they came was LA and the tix were big $$$. My uncle regaled me with tales of seeing the 'Mats in the mid-80s opening for R.E.M., falling off the stage drunk, fucking up all their best songs.

Denard at only 4.75? The man broke offensive records at Notre Dame Stadium, Penn State, and was the MVP of the Big Ten one year? Seems like a 5* by any definition to me.

"Making plans for Nigel" is definitely in my top 10. (Most people don't know it, but the '80s began in 1978 when XTC released White Music. See, e.g., "This is Pop?").

+1 for Westerberg at his most soulful. Foretold the second side of Tim, and is the subtext of not only this but perhaps the Replacements more generally.

I don't understand why college kids use cocaine. The realization of having all that potential, freedom, free time is the purest high there is.
|1 week 5 days ago||I'd split it up into four||
I'd split it up into four rooms if you can. From experience, you get a 'tragedy of the commons'/Lord of Flies shitshow if you pack in many to a room. You won't get 8 in a suite no matter what, at least not comfortably, and chances are you will trash it.
There is so much to do in Vegas that you should use your room to sleep. Party at the sportsbooks. Call around and see if anyone will give you a discount on four rooms. That was common a few years back, but the economy has picked up, so maybe not as much any more.
Just don't put it all on your credit card...

Great news! Neighborhood wise, hope you are in the old UCSF location in Inner Sunset. You could go to the MoMa at lunch.

This is really all the NCAA could do. It couldn't just cut Bama's practice time. What is it's authority to do so? No rule was broken. There is not precedent for cutting practice time that is otherwise allowed.

The last time Michigan beat Florida in the Citrus, with RR in the wings. This feels different though. It's hope based on experience and not conjecture.

Harris is a different guty the first quarter. Robinson dropped a perfectly thrown fade, forcing a FG attempt.
You have to think the game would have been different had either Robinson hauled in that pass, or Florida would have kicked the FG.

He didn't go out at the very top of his game, but he was still playing at a high level. I think one more year was not going to add to his legacy too much.
