I understand that he is a young, hungry coach and would like the be a head coach. And I also understand it will happen sooner, than later.
But I do not understand why he would take a job in the same division as his mentor. If there were no other P5 jobs out there this year, it might make some sense. But there are tons of jobs open out there, with more to come in the next few weeks. Why would he want to have to coach against Harbaugh, his mentor, every year? Just does not make sense.
I call BS.

Others have said it, I've been saying it too but I just want to point it out again. OSU runs the qb on almost every 3rd down. Everytime I see it, I think that our coaches have to be seeing that too. Going to be pissed when it works next week.

Doyle with 1 rebound, Wilson with 0. That pretty much sums up the whole game. Pretty speechless looking at those 2 stats.

It was a road game, and we have been terrible on the road. That's why I'm scared of the next 2 weeks.

Someone on the board mentioned it a couple weeks ago and I have been noticing since: Ohio State runs the qb draw on 3rd long almost every time.

He still has NFL arm talent, and will be drafted. Rudock has no chance of that. Have you not watched us play on the road? We made Leidner look like a stud, just like last year making Gary Nova look like a stud on the road. We have to play a good road game before the perception is changed.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||That was on the road, also||
That was on the road, also gave up 38 on the road to OSU, but shut down completely Indiana, Illinois and Rutgers at home. Those teams aren't good but their D has been lights out recently at home.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||For some reason it feels like||
For some reason it feels like most people are not worried about the PSU game coming up for us. But I've been worried about it for awhile. First of all, until we play good on the road(only looked good in the 2nd half against Maryland so far) I am not going to assume we can. Have looked bad on the road for the last few years. And how are we going to move the ball on their D? The way I look at that game, both defenses are elite, both offenses struggle, but they have an NFL QB and are at home, not sure how we win that game.

I can't create posts, and sorry for thread jacking. But someone needs to post about Jay Harbaughs tweet, so we can float ideas on it. I have no idea who he is referring to, but Steve Lorenz makes it seem like it's someone very obvious.

I hate to be that guy but.....
Weren't we all kind of saying bad things over the summer, when we kept taking 2 and 3 star under the radar recruits? And I bet we all were thinking about something like this stuff now.
It was great to have players ready to commit at the camps in the summer, but we all kind of thought there would be a lot of 4 and 5 stars who might want to commit down the road. So I never want to be a downer when a kid commits, but each time an under the radar guy jumped on, in my head I was thinking, thats another top 250ish guy who won't have a spot now.
As others have said, seems like we are in good shape with like 10-12 good recruits right now, but only have like 4 or so spots. I wonder if in the future we will hold off on some of the under the radar guys in the summer. Under the radar guys are fine if its in Jan. and Feb. and you are trying to fill a class, taking them in the summer seemed crazy.

Anybody else get the feeling the writing is on the wall for Derrick Green? If Smith's vision is still as bad as he displayed last night and he is the clear number 1....that says bad things for Green. Isaac atleast has the 3rd down back role, and is newer to the program than Green. Just feel like if Green can barely get carries behind Smith as this point when everyone is fully healthy, not sure what the future is for him at UM. WIth Drake coming back hopefully in a few weeks, really think Green might look to transfer after this year.

So if Ross, Taco, etc. are left off because of injuries, what does that say about Drake Harris?
He is listed there. But he is supposed to have a potential season ending injury?
These other have minor injuries and they arent listed at all? What sense does that make?
|41 weeks 18 hours ago||If only it was realistic to||
If only it was realistic to redshirt some of these guys next year. Specifically the guys that arent necessarily needed this year(based on what we know up until now)
The LB depth chart would not be as scary in '16 if you still had RJS around and Gedeon with 2 years.
Mone is a guy who would not be needed this year based on the DT depth, also not taking a DT this year, would be nice to have 3 years left on him after this year.
Stribling is another guy, with Lyons coming in, who might not be needed this year, would be nice for the future as well.
Dymonte Thomas, we all can agree needed a redshirt too.

Seems like we are sending out late offers to WRs to RBs but not to any CBs, should we read into that about a CB being a silent commit? Hopefully he is alluding to a CB.

Zak Irvin the last 2 games, 5-23 from the field, 3-16 from 3pt. How many of those 23 attempts came at the rim? I only remember 1, a fast break layup against NJIT. The dude fell in love with the 3 and is stuck to it.
I understand not getting to the rim against some teams, but against an undersized NJIT and EMU? You can't go to the hole 1 time in 2 games? GTFO
|1 year 6 weeks ago||If you are talking games||
If you are just talking games missed this season by starters due to injury, don't forget Jake Butt missing the first few games and being limited in the games hes played. I know he waasnt injured during this season, but it still effects this year.
Also Ondre Pipkins missing games this year too recovering from his injury from last year. So that's another would-be starter who has only played sparingly through 7 games.
But yes I have thought the same thing every weekend, I watch a ton of football and lots of teams have injuries, but nobody has near as many as what we have. Like I have said to my gf everytime someone gets hurt "our team is bad enough when we have everyone healthy, do we really need another freaking injured starter!?"
|1 year 9 weeks ago||Braden||
After rewatching most of the game yesterday, I think Ben Braden is just not ready to play tackle at this level. Too many missed assignments, causing sacks and stuffed running plays.
They said Glasgow was taking snaps at RT in fall camp, and I think Kalis looked good at RG in the App St. game, so put Kalis in at RG and bump Glasgow out to RT. With his overall game experience(although not at tackle) he can't be worse than the first year starter Braden.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Potential Silver Lining||
During the game, I kept saying to myself that this is a humbling game for the team and fans. But then I thought, we are unranked, coming off a dissapointing year, did we really need to be humbled that much? Probably not.
So today I dismissed that thought, and looked for a different silver lining.
Maybe having this happen early in the season, showed our team and coaches that certain things are not going to work later in the year when we play more quality teams.
Maybe Mattison can see that the press coverage almost every play is not going to work against an offense with a pulse. It might force him to work in some more zone throughout the game, to keep the offense more uncertain.
Maybe it will show Nuss, any decent defense is going to bring heavy pressure on Gardner since he and the line have stuggled with it so mightily the last couple years. So work in some different types of runs and crossing routes and screens to ease the pressue.
We have a couple weeks against lesser teams, and maybe the coaches will use those weeks to work out ways to beat the the things good teams do to us. So when the harder teams on the schedule arrive, we have worked out some of our deficiencies.
That's the best I can do for silver lining.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||So it looks like Stauskas and||
So it looks like Stauskas and GR3 are gone, and we wait on McGary. So we have bad news on the first 2, but hope for good news on the 3rd.
But it's interesting because if you had to pick only one of the 3 to come back next year, given next year's roster, you would probably pick McGary. I know Nik was BIGPOY, but Levert is not a huge dropoff in that spot, not nearly as big a dropoff as the 5 would be without McGary.
So I am staying optimistic, if we get Mitch back, we are right in the BIG title race.
|2 years 6 weeks ago||I am trying to be as rational||
I am trying to be as rational as possible after a game like that.
But, how many negative running plays do you have to have in a season before the OL Coach or the OC has to go? I watch hundreds of college games every year, and even terrible teams do not have an many negatvie running plays as we do. Like seriously, watch some of these crappy teams next week get blownout, they still wont have that many negative plays.
Our special teams coach should be fired just for the simple fact that we do not use the spread punt. 95% of college teams use it and it has all but eliminated punt returns in most games. Add to that a horrible pooch punt tonight, the horrible field goal debacle tonight, the muffed punt returns, the gunners being where they are not supposed to be and costing us a fumble, etc. What does a ST coach have to do to get fired?

I agree it's the wrong time to worry about it. But as I was watching Gallon and Dileo make all the important catchs tonight, I started to realize how much we will miss them next year. We have barely even targeted anything but a senior at WR.
|2 years 11 weeks ago||Great win, pretty in control||
Great win, pretty in control throughout, which my heart appreciates.
Not to be a downer, but is anybody else terrified of the WR corps for next year? Not one WR that will be on the team next year has caught a pass this season(Norfleet doesnt really count), or should I say none of them have a caught a pass in their careers........ That is scary to me.

As I am laughing my ass off at this MSU offense, I went to check their 2014 schedule. I am reminded that their 2nd game next year is at Oregon.....my god.

Stauskus is one of the worst road players I have ever seen. I dont care that he shot the ball well tonight, his turnovers were making me rip my hair out. Everytime he is even close to pressuered, he just throws it away. 5 TOs to 1 Assist tonight, absolutely terrible. He is just so flustered on the road, so nervous. I dont want to hear any excuses about being a freshman either.

Totally OT(But I am too much of a watcher and never post, so I cannot create a topic)
But my brother is an FSU alum and super fan(we live in Tampa area), and he has friends who are big boosters for FSU. He just told me that he has heard that Georgia Tech is 100% going to join the Big 10 this week and that BC or VIrginia is going to come with them as the 16th team. He says the ACC is basically done.
If someone wants to creat a thread about this, I would move this post.
Sorry, not threadjacking

If PSU had never had the Sandusky scandal and was still a moderate national power, then these divisions wouldnt be quite as horrible, but.....
Everyone agrees PSU will be a bottom dwelling FBS team for the next decade or so(having a better than expected year this year, but the near death penalty is too much)
So its just OSU and Wisc in that division, thats crazyness. Where as UM, Nebraska, MSU and Northwestern are top 25ish teams. Just horrible.
