|21 weeks 5 days ago||watch the video||
He is moving to his right and the ball fumbles forward and left relative to his motion...that's why he has to swing around....but actually your point even proves my point more! Without rugby motion the ball is just fumbled in front of him...therefore easy to grab and punt...but it's not easy because of his motion to the right
|21 weeks 5 days ago||the punt||
As everyone has pointed out...not being in max protect. But more importantly. ..was the rugby movement. I've watches it 50 times and there was a great analysis from J. Leman of BTN. The entire team was moving to the right including Oneill....the snap came a little low and to his left. He fumbles it to his LEFT. Since him and all blockers are moving right it puts that side of Sparties pass rush into play. He grabs ball and because of the rugby motion,he must swing around to kick it. A sparty guy knocks it out to another sparty ( a guy who was perfectly blocked by Braden!) And the rest is history. Without motion he fumbles it in front of him and doesn't have to swing around, he simply grabs and punts....no block happens....set up on max protect and do not do rugby motion and even with the fumble we win

I graduated from U of M in 1983 with a BSEE. I was pretty smart so I got a Fairchild Scholar. I worked for Fairchild Communications (on Satellites) outside of DC for 3 days a week and I got to go to Maryland for 2 days a week to get my MSEE (full salary). Maryland was so bad I couldn't stay even with that deal! I got a job at ERIM in Ann Arbor and came back and got my MSEE from U of M. Best decision I ever made :)

I put $300 on us to win it all at 50 to 1....and $100 for us to win the B1G at 16 to 1...I'm liking my bets :)
|34 weeks 6 days ago||comparing to 1997||
why not.....I think this year's Dline is better than 1997. Deeper and quicker and bigger. I don't think Renes, WIlliams and Steele are as good as Glasgow, Wormley and Henry....but most important is the backups! Taco, Hurst and Godin...sheez there was nobody like that in 1997.
I DEFINITELY think the LBs from 1997 were far superior to this year's LBs. Dhani Jones and Ian Gold were my favorite michigan LBs ever (I am an old guy too!). Throw in James Hall and its a clear win for 1997.
FInally, from what I have seen...even as amazing as Chuck was...this year's team has just a collection of studs at DB. Nobody on 1997 was anywhere as good as Peppers at Safety (sorry Marcus). Jarrod Wilson might lose a small battle to Hendriks. But when it comes to CB, its the depth that impresses me. Jourdan Lewis will play in the NFL and even though he loses to Chuck, so does everyone! Clark and Stribling are where you see the big difference. a 6'2" guy and 6'4" guy? Are you kidding me? Awesome...throw in Delano Hill and its just a machine of DBs...they can all tackle, press cover and play to their assignments.
I know I'm crazy... but because of this, I see this year's defense as potentially better than 1997....still early but WOW

|1 year 2 weeks ago||Lorenz Factor||
The whole thing is NON-Linear...your train experiement is Linear. As you go faster, the scale factor changes, it does not stay the same. That is hard for most of us to imagine, but thats the correct way to view this problem
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Interesting stuff||
Everything seems kind of what I would expect...except the "glitch" in your first plot where it is more likely to be a 7 year player in the NFL than a 4 year player. I will take a stab at a theory.
Generally speaking, the plot should simply decrease as time goes by (age + injury potential). But at year ~4, some guys "figure out" how to be NFL players and stick another so many years. Those guys who figure it out last until the age/injury curve makes them leave and the curve goes back down. So the glitch is the guys who figure out how to be a professional.
That being said, it might just be monetary or maybe based on contract length!
|1 year 10 weeks ago||I'll do my son||
He fell just short of getting a U of M football scholarship. He didn't want to leave the state for Purdue, Iowa or Minnesota. ...so he went to Western....they wanted him on Defense...he wanted to play RB....he made travel team his freshman year....3rd game of the year is against Michigan at the big house....2001....because he was easily the biggest back....they had him playing FB to simulate Michigan's offense for Western ' s Defense. So the week leading up to the game he did that....well 9-11 happened...they postponed the game....the following week while practicing at FB still he got rolled by an Olineman....snapped 3 of 4 ligaments in his knee...he never recovered and still has knee problems to this day.....FUCK OSAMA BIN LADEN

|1 year 15 weeks ago||for me...||
1) Derrick Green - before he got hurt he was running extremely well. I think Harbaugh will rely on him for most games
2) Peppers - I always wanted him at safety because he will be all over the field. Look for 5 or 6 interceptions, 4 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 punt return for a TD, etc...
3) Moe Ways - I think he is our next great WR. Dude has all the tools to wear #1
