You're right - not every situation is exactly the same. HIs turnaruond of SF is more an indiction of what can be done with existing talent than let's say Stanford.
It illustrates the fact that Harbaugh appears has the ability to take existing talent and work around it. In fact, his "quick turnaround' ability is what allot of UM fans are counting on this year. The fact that the players already int he system are a good fit for him only makes that expectation even greater.
The team RR inheritedwas definitely young on offense for the 2008 season - but young does not mean without talent
To blame the 3-9 and 5-7 records on a team being is trying to simplify the cause of their poor performance. Many young teams with good coaches have performed better than the 08 team.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Remember how everyone applauded Hoke||
when he first came and one of the first things he did was talk with Denard and get him on board? Remeber how the first year was a definite Borges/Denard spread "fusion" as Brian like to call it?
RR failed to do that and although you nor I will ever know exactly what went down to make Mallett transfer to Arkansas, claiming Carr was the single reason for him to leave is just being blind to the other factors that went into his decision.
Asshole or not, Mallett was thinking of what was best for him and his career and playing for a guy who was going to not use his abilities as a pocket passing QB played a HUGE factor in pushing him out the door.
As your brother's girlfriend's sister's hairdresser's uncle's boyfriend that and see what your answer is.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||RR is to blame for being a coach||
who didn't maximize the best out of what he had, Not making a harder press for Mallett to stay can be argued as one of the things that set up his eventaul demise.
Again, let me reinterate that I liked RR more than Hoke and wanted him to succeed - I am not a hater. But guys, let's be real here. Lloyd may have dropped teh ball somewhat with the caliber of player, but the roster wasn't full of talentless players.
So what if RR took 2 years to implement his spread system. Ask the class of 08 and 09 how it felt going out 3-9 and 5-7 with no bowl?
Our newly beloved coach sure seems to be able to take teams with players that may not fit what exactly he wants or needs and turn them into winners - all while building a team in the mould he wants. RR did not do that and that's what he is to blame.
I'm not going to sit here and play the "what if: game but we know that what he did didn't work. It's only human nature to wonder what would have happened had things been done a little different.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Mallett left the program b/c of RR and the style of offense||
he would run. The Threet/Sheridan arguement is only there b/c RR created that by making it know his new offensive gameplan was going to be intorduced no matter what.
RR's first mistake was to not retain a competent QB and scheme with the available talent.
I liked RR more than Hoke but come one - he was a disaster on his own. The infighting within the progam and AD just sped up his eventual demise.

I didn't do any LSD in my younger years. If that's what I see I am glad I didn't b/c that is just freaking me out.

That's the creepiest thing. Eyes are said to be the window to the soul. Does that mean the AI realiizes everything around us is actually alive?

Yes - very underrated. Not bragging but I never lost a stoplight drag race to anyone. Vettes, Mustangs, Camaros, etc would all be spinning while I was already at the next light.
I once raced it up near London Ontario at a 1/2 mile paved oval for a "King of the Hill" competition. Bascially, everyone would show up with their cars and race once around the oval, 2 at a time in a single elimination format.
Long story short - I made it to the finals quite easily and faced a guy with a 1987 Mustang GT all modified and tricked out. The thing was supercharged, lowered, giant racing slicks, etc - like it was straight out of the Fast & Furious
My Stealth looked stock except for the slightly larger tires and the giant 3" Stainless exhast tips coming out the rear. Needless to say everyone was gunning for the tricked out Ford to beat the import (even though it was a Dodge).
We lined up and the light went green, I revved the car up tot 6500 RPM then featheedr the clutch for about 1/2 a seoncd - then dropped it. I jumped out to a 3 car length lead before he even got off the starting line.
I was cruising to a win until turn 3. There was an accident on the stock car race prior to my race and I hit a patch of oil/glycol left on the track. I spun the car out but luckily did not crash the car into the wall.
He went high - missed me and the spill and ended up winning.
I lost - but a girl did come up to me after and give me her phone number.

Bought it used in 1995 up in Hamilton Ontario. Was a graduation present from me to me. Had the engine ported and polished. A new ECM and custom boost controller allowed me to run up to 20 PSI boost on it versus the regular 13-14 PSI in the factory turbos. Custom intake and exhaust allowed it to breathe. Had to get a special heavy duty clutch since I burnt the factory one out in 2 hours once the car was finished..
HP was well over 400+ per the engine builder although I never had it dyno tested.
Kept the factory chrome rims but installed 275/40R17 Firestone Firehawk tires. Great for gripping and not over the top for size.
What made this car fast was the AWD. Though heavy, once the rear wheels began to spin, the fronts would engage and you could actually feel the car grab the pavement and drop. Street racing anything RWD wasn't even close. I'd be 60 feet in front of them before they even found traction.
Top speed I ever got in the car was 265 kph (pegged the spedometer) on a stretch of I675 in Saginaw back in 1996 (late for a buddy's wedding).
Sold the car in 2000 right before I got married.
God I miss that car.

Seriously - if he was such a dick and ego maniac, he must have been like that long before he became AD. Did anyone here allot of complaints when he was hired? I didn't.
That begs the question. How was a guy like that allowed in the door to begin with? I realize MSC had allot to do with his hire, but did she really hire him in a complete vacuum? Why weren't his character issues ever mentioned before?
Like finds like and I think there are/were allot of DB types already in the department and when the wheels fell off the bus, DB was the scapegoat.
Don't get me wrong - the guy seemed like a total tool and had to go but I think there is probably allot more house cleaning that needs to be done.
DB's hire seems like it was a culmination of a general trend the Department was already heading in. His spectacular failure just sped up the process or the department needing to be reset.

It'd be interesting to see her job description.

Whenever a MSU grad makes a dig to me - I always them them in a polite manner that I absolutely love MSU grads - they're soo good at cutting my lawn.
Then they get really offended. So then I turn and get angry.
I tell them if they don't hurry up and finish pumping out my septic tank, I'll call their HS grad boss and complain.
It works everytime.
