I just...don't really care, one damn bit, that he did this. And, I don't care about his history in this instance, this just seems ridiculous to me he's suspended for yelling words in public (words that weren't even intended to cause emotional/mental harm.

I've made a couple posts recently, one each on the 2 types of Dlineman. The other day I yearned for Frank Clark to GET THERE more often than, "oh he was so close again". That was a bit unfair I admit, as he really is so damn close, so many times, and it seems other players would totally have a sack there except every damn QB seems to be able to get the ball out a split second before Clark can arrive, as Brian notes.
The other post was about the lack of PUSH and blown up plays from out DTackles. Now, I know they've blown up run plays, they had a few against Notre Dame even. However, and this is more or less reiterating what Brian stated above, it seems them blowing up a pass play a little more often would help FClark soooo much. Again, I've seen Glasgow kill a run play, but rarely do we see our DTs demolish, a la Mike Martin (the last I've seen be able to do this with any frequency for Michigan), a pass play and get the non-sexy sacks (the edge rushers being the sacks most people thing of and go ga-ga for) where a bum rush ends any sort of timing for the QB and he's left with nothing to do than get creamated or roll into somebody like Clark who is pretty often close to a sack, anyways.

Cheese and Rice...that is brilliantly hilarious.

Yea I've always felt what he was doing there wasn't that bad. He was pumped his team was getting a penalty and free yards, not because it was at the expense of a player being hit late. Once again, everything isn't black and white. Yes, it was a bit extreme jumping up and down like that because of what happened but his excitement was due to competetiveness and adrenaline.
|2 days 51 min ago||Correct. If I'm not||
Correct. If I'm not mistaken, the NCAA guideline* says football games are for a 1:00 PM kickoff. Now, since TV schedules came into play, things were able to change via permission, moving games earlier or later for TV and other scenarios for school's benefits. Anymore I don't think the whole permission thing is needed and it's a free-for-all by the TV networks in scheduling games.
*See: NCAA Division III games, all 1:00PM games.
|2 days 3 hours ago||It's certainly something I've||
It's certainly something I've started pondering, oh, the past 2-3 years. I used to dismiss the notions that the Big Ten is weak and flat out isn't very good. Well, results speak loudly, and we've been weak and not very good. Sparty has recently, but Ohio State has been THEE team from our conference competing at a high level. Some were pretty good squads but some didn't quite live up to competing with the other "cream of the crop" teams from the other conferences.
It's a scary notion but is it that far off that the Big Ten may be unfixable?!
|2 days 3 hours ago||Well put. The trajectory||
Well put. The trajectory we're on right now does not point at being elite. I'm not really sure what needs to change, though I've/we've some plausible ideas, other than Michigan re-locating to the South. But, maybe something like that happening, like you state, may help change perception issue we have these days and be a bit more forward thinking to help get back on track, being successful.

I see Frank Clark getting close, but I keep seeing him come up short on, getting sacks. I know he's somewhat affecting plays and maybe hurrying QBs, but man, I want to see him demolish more and see less of "well, he was so close on that play".

Glad I'm in Iowa City for the Iowa-Iowa State game than witnessing what's apparently going on up there. I'm sure it's not as bad as it would appear but then again, I won't be shocked to hear of some pretty bad game play by Michigan by the time it's all said and done.

Thank you. I wanted to vent how ridiculous the commercial abundance is for NFL games, especially this one tonight. Damn, it's been worse than a college basketball game.

This, 100%. ESPECIALLY after a depressing weekend primetime ass-kicking. I mean, I'm about to buy a house, can we talk about some home improvement stuff instead of the miserable weekend we just had and the unknown future that lies ahead?

I'd say he'll be guilty of something. Such a bizarre story and chain of events. Again, I'd guess he gets S. Africa's manslaughter equivalent. Prison time, I'm not exactly sure about.
|6 days 20 hours ago||I think I may get where||
I think I may get where you're coming from. I also think Brian is mostly right and the DL played pretty well.
My "issues" with the line are as follows. This may not be realistic, though I don't know why, but I wish we would see, every once in a while, a defensive tackle blow up an O-lineman and get through to disrupt a play, immediately. I've somewhat seen if from a defensive ends, though not often, and from the DEs it's not fast enough anyway. (Frank Clark will make good plays utilizing "moves" but they usually aren't a bull-rush where he's won right from the snap of the ball). But again, I wish we'd see it more from our DTs. Mike Martin was the last I can recall being able to do this a few times a game, blowing plays up right off the snap. Saturday night against Notre Dame, with the 2-3 seconds and the ball was out, I get that it's hard for our ends to get to the QB that fast but a DT right off the snap, a-la Sheldon Day, can help slow down/blow up even those quick pass plays. We don't see that often from our DTs it seems.
I could be way off. I mean, I'm positive Pipkens has blown some plays up, maybe Henry, too. But Saturday night, when we NEEDED it, to slow that quick aerial assault down, it wasn't there. And again, even the D-ends making a quick play wouldn't have been fast enough. We needed it from the tackles. The Dline played well, yes, and the secondary is what let us down. Making a huge, badass play, though, could have helped save the whole unit on a drive or two.
*Edit: An addendum: I know I'm a bit wrong on the above, in that our Dline players can blow some people up. It happened on some running plays last Saturday. I think where I really meant to come from was in regards to pass plays. We know out pass rush the past few years hasn't really been good, and it's not always up to the ends to create that spectacular play by getting a good rush. The non-sexy blow-up plays come from the tackles and we've gotten few of those lately, again, during passing plays.
|1 week 34 min ago||I think it'll grade well but||
I think it'll grade well but I'm still thinking, personally, that it wasn't all that good. Rushing, there were some good holes opened up that some were hit and some weren't, so a pretty good positive number for that aspect. But the protection I don't think was up to task. That combined with Devin's, uhmm, poor play, was not a recipe for success. Humble opinion...and that's based off of 1 viewing and a few replays on a number of plays.

I'm with you all the way, especially in regards to Cook. I've been high in him going back to last year when all he did was improve week to week. And now, he's turned himself into a pretty damn good QB who many homers can't get themselves to admit.

Just being funny. Thanks for your service. Things aren't great in regards to the football team we cohesively cheer on but I'm quite sure you're glad to be back to it all (we're glad you're back safely), and honestly, we should all be glad we have the opportunity to even fret about the above matters.
