How about we reinvent what "family-friendly" actually means? For example, anything by Sidney Lumet, although I would be partial to "Network". We could extend the Paddy Chayefsky theme and show "Altered States" after "Network" too. Alternatively, "Airplane!" or "Caddyshack" would not be terrible options, although if my wife is any indication, the kids won't be seeing either for a while.

I will say this - I like this, and I think it would be cool if we could get Rockapella to make some minor alterations to their rather famous intro music to Carmen Sandiego to accommodate the show that will undoubtedly follow. Well, it could end up simply being the new "Countdown To Kickoff" music too.

Those in the area, which will include bleacher-style seating, will get a close-up view of Lions player leaving and entering the locker room.
So, since you're paying for this experience potentially, do they throw in - free of charge, mind you - some dude trying to sell timeshares, doing his best to convince you that your equity will go through the roof? I mean, if you want my money, just say so.
|14 hours 22 min ago||I Had Thought...||
I had thought it was something about how the software came to the conclusion that Canadian postal codes - by virtue of their alphanumeric format - constituted an attempt at hacking, but then I could have been quite tipsy at the time the initial explanation for the problem was fronted as well. It is difficult to tell.

So returning to Edison that Sunday, Tyus Battle decided to get it all over with. He says the Michigan winters and being far from home are the "sacrifices" that come with "finding the perfect fit."
That's an interesting aspect of his decision though, and I am glad that he sees it as such. The winters can be harsher in Michigan than really any place he could have gone save for maybe Syracuse, but I like that his seeming immediate draw to the team and Beilein led the way here.
|18 hours 53 min ago||Alas Too Late...||
Well, I was going to say something about "depth", but I missed the initial error of "OB", so saying we have nice depth at this position probably could have been taken in some unfortunate ways. That being said, I am slightly pissed that I was not here to be able to make that line funny somehow.
In all seriousness, it seems that where we had a real problem before, we now have a nice problem. I like that much better.

How You Like Me Now?
I think the board gave a sufficient answer to this question at 39 downvotes and increasing.
|23 hours 14 min ago||Well, OK...||
Well, OK....but only if we can turn right around as a crowd and sing "Muskrat Love" while donning captain hats because if we're going to do something like this, we're going to really just go ahead and do it, I would think.
|1 day 9 hours ago||If We Go Python...||
If a few of us are going to go with answers from Monty Python, I want to throw "Hide And Seek" in as a possibility. It's even relatively cheap if we don't do the worldwide version, but then it wouldn't be nearly as dramatic.
|1 day 14 hours ago||Sports Business Daily...||
Sports Business Daily has a short writeup here - LINK. This might be the one the OP is referencing, but I did want to at least put the article in the thread.
As for having to look at Millen on BTN, all I can say is that this will be emotionally difficult for me as a Lions fan even though I could use a break from Glen Mason.
|1 day 17 hours ago||Thank You, Sir...||
First and foremost, thank you for your service to this nation.
Also, thank you for sharing that article - you're right that it probably wouldn't get to MGoBlog unless someone posted it as you have, but all the same it was quite moving and a reminder of what today is in fact about.

Yeah, I can't wait for handshakes which are as awkward as they are somehow epic. I have a feeling that we're in for a few of those and I am intrigued by how they will turn out.
I like this question actually, in other words. It may not stand a good chance of getting a direct answer, but I like it.
|1 day 22 hours ago||100 Days...||
Man, 100 days seems like forever when it comes to waiting for the season to start, although that's probably because I am particularly excited to see this one start. That isn't something I've been able to say with much conviction for a couple years at least. Sadly, I don't get to start the Harbaugh era in person until the second game of the season, but I'll definitely be there via television.

It's something the SEC doesn't allow its own coaches to do elsewhere, though that is subject to change if the SEC fails to get the practice banned. - SEC stance on satellite camps
But I thought Mark Richt believed that it might be too cold up here in the June or July timeframe? This change might be worth monitoring for climatological reasons alone.
|2 days 7 hours ago||All I Can Say Is...||
All I can say is that errors that take fice minutes are the worst. I can't believe myself when I make them.
In all seriousness, if there is such a thing in this thread, I have some Sheffield's Tawny Port sitting on the desk as I sort of watch episodes of "Cheers" and type.
|2 days 13 hours ago||Good News Indeed...||
...and the hits continue to come indeed for Michigan athletics today. Well done indeed.
Between baseball and this, even if you didn't know what was going on, the hashtag #HarbaughEffect would probably be all you needed to know.
In all seriousness though, congratulations to the rowing team!

|2 days 17 hours ago||I Agree With This...||
I actually agree with that though and I have told people similar things in the past. The Lake Huron side is great for plopping down a fishing pole and spending a day polishing off some beer or however you want to take it easy and relax. The Lake Michigan side is much more active and possibly the better side to be if you've got kids. As someone mentioned upthread, there is a nice selection of mini-golf in and around Traverse City and my kids and I have done that tour, but Sleeping Bear Dunes are over there, winery tours and numerous other activities.
A lot of it depends on what you want out of the time.
|2 days 22 hours ago||Emotionally Jarring...||
Well, certainly the most emotionally jarring day for me thus far in life - if this counts as extreme somehow - was probably the day one of my sisters died back in 2012. She had been having issues with drugs really since high school and despite numerous attempts to help her over the years, my parents and others could never get her to stay clean for very long.
She did die of an overdose - people who say "cocaine is a hell of a drug" are right, especially when you were doing Special K and downing some Jack for good measure. What makes it emotionally extreme is that A) it was my parents who found her, and B) at no point despite it all did losing a sibling cross my mind because as troubled as she was, I was still hopeful she could get out of it.
I was as shocked as I was saddened that I suddenly found myself the oldest brother of one and that my parents had to face the one thing I am sure they never cosidered - outliving one of their own children. October 10th, 2012 i s perhaps the most extreme day of my life on an emotional level, I suppose.
My surviving sister, whose work some of you know from cons or the Internet, actually have begun to outline a book on what it is like to live with some who has addiction issues of that scale, and from such a young age. Catharsis, if you will, and much needed.

I could be wrong, but didn't Toledo have a team for a couple years? The Crush was their name, I believe, and it was only at the beginning of this year that they decided to find another market in Ohio. There are only a half dozen teams or so currently active, I think, but tons of ones that were flashes in the pan of varied length.
|3 days 9 hours ago||For A First...||
For a first post, it's a very good one and a very nice reminder, so many kudos to you.
Also, the 1980s on SNL were indeed a very nice time - if your second thread was about that, that wouldn't be a bad followup at all as there are plenty of people on the board who undoubtedly remember them.
|3 days 10 hours ago||Also Remember....||
We should also remember that the football program's profits - which are significant - are used to fund a lot of other sports and activities inside the athletic department, so even then we cannot pretend that the loss of $4,000,000 is a pittance. It might not affect football too much, but some of those programs that rely largely on that money might face issues. It's something to consider anyway.
Also, as a general note to the board...*puts on mod cap*....some people may not be familiar with the Teddy Blanks stuff, but yeah, moving forward, try to avoid posting it. There is a history there.

I definitely applaud the courage, but I also like the sense of accessibility that it provides and I have to believe that is the point of doing that. It will be interesting to see if he ever mentions any call or e-mail at some point moving forward actually.
I am pretty sure that if I did the same thing, I would simply get numerous prank calls.
|4 days 12 hours ago||Good Warning...||
This is a good warning to all - be sure that ESPN's family of networks airs your game on the channel and at the time that is in fact listed. You would think they would learn from their rather random assortment of programming back in the day, but you can never be sure when ESPN will cover a sudden lawn darts tournament and bump your desired programming even now.
|4 days 14 hours ago||Makes Sense...||
It's hard to speak to the odds this far out, and I can't say I agree with all of them if it were me making the prediction, but if I were to make a very preliminary stab at the order of finish in the conference, then the order of Big Ten teams above actually would make a lot of sense to me. I see Michigan - and take my "no data" prediction for what it is worth - in about that spot in the conference standings (hopefully higher, of course - we are going to be pretty damn good, I think).
That, and I see Villanova at 25/1 and the part of me still bitter about my ESPN bracket wants to ask, "Really? That high, eh?"
|4 days 16 hours ago||To Add A Little...||
The Sporting News had a short piece on this earlier today - LINK - wherein UNC is directly quoted as to how they plan to release the particulars of the NOA:
“The University will publicly release the NCAA’s notice as soon as possible. The notice is lengthy and must be prepared for public dissemination to ensure we protect privacy rights as required by federal and state law. When that review for redactions is complete, the University will post the notice on the Carolina Commitment website and notify the news media. When we respond to the NCAA’s allegations, we will follow this same release process."
I will admit to being intrigued - the outline of of these, if it involves all the things that have been reported on at UNC for years now, will likely be very damning for the university in general, not just the football and basketball programs, at least in my opinion. Not sure if the punishment levied on Syracuse is any good indication as the NCAA is a random entity in that regard, but on the surface it sounds like a bad time for UNC, to say the least.
