You hate to hear this news about any one player, let alone three of them being announced at the same time. Whoever they end up being, that has to be the worst to hear that you will no longer be able to follow a dream and play football for your school.

OT: Domino's stock is hot again
The same CNN Money article was posted last night and removed ultimately. See Seth's post directly above this one for the reasoning.

Here's a Florida writer who is also a little hesitant to jump on the Mullen bandwagon - LINK
Basically, this guy talks about Mullen's less-than-great record against ranked teams as well as other teams in the SEC West (the normal obstacles, of you will) before this year as the primary reason to perhaps go a different route. That being said, he fronts Mullen as well as Gary Patterson as "safe" choices for Florida with Rich Rodriguez being his more bold selection.

This was actually the first game that my wife and I went to as husband and wife (we were married in April 2004, as soon as the NCAA Tournament was over, of course). We were supposed to go to a reception after the game, and if it had ended on time, we probably would have been there long before people were beginning to cleanup. Around the beginning of the 4th quarter, my wife began nudging me and saying we should just go, and I still remember turning to her, "You don't just leave in these situations!" and I think the look on her face at that moment was when she realized the depth of my MGoObsession. Also, silly friend for having a wedding and reception ON THE DAY OF the Michigan / MSU game.

A little more on Domino's recent resurgence is in this WP article - LINK
One of the things that I found amusing is that certain locations are now introducing the "pizza theater" concept, where you can dine-in and position yourself so you can in fact watch the entire process from start to finish. The actually mention as well that 45% of their orders are online orders now (Domino's did get the technology piece spot on) and the tab size is increasing on those orders.
That being said, the OP's apparent inference that Brandon did nothing at Domino's....well....many of the foundations of their recent success began under Brandon's watch. It's more that he is in some ways a fish out of water, as it were, in the college athletics world.

He said he and Burbridge text back and forth, wishing each other luck each week, except this one.
I admit that I got a chuckle out of that. I actually had forgotten that Funchess and Burbridge both went to Harrison. It's also a minor bit of evidence that he treats this game a little differently than others, but in all honesty, I don't think there's a reason to get upset over this because I don't see this as an indication that they aren't preparing - in a strictly mechanical sense, it IS just another game before we apply our own feelings on this rivalry to it, and I would rather they focused on the mechanics even in a rivalry week.

Jim Harbaugh Recruiting at UM, and assistants....
To paraphrase a line from the movie "Dragnet"..."These threads seemed merely irritating at first, but were quickly gaining notoriety through their growing freuquency and naked brazenness..."
Wolverine fans want it more than the UM players?
Basically a comment on the thread containing quotes from Funchess currently on the first page. This could have easily gone in there.

Good to hear that Branch will be back at it and in a position to help the Patriots. That NESN was a pretty interesting overview of Ayers and Branch in different defensive alignments, incidentally, even getting into the possibility of the Patriots being creative and going to a 3-3-5 in the nickel.
As for the photo the OP posted, I am pretty sure Anthony Morelli only recently got up from the hit, as it looked that painful and jarring when it happened.

You also have a mod that happens to bear this last name (guess which one), so there is that as well. Too many Cooks spoil the broth indeed.
On a more general note, congratulations to Alex on this endeavor! Looking forward to this year's hoops coverage.
|1 day 1 hour ago||Not Sure About The Game...||
Although I am not sure about the game per se, there are some instances of Michigan and Michigan State being in the Top 10 of at least the AP at the end of the season per a few sites:
1950 - MSU #8, Michigan #9
1956 - Michigan #7, MSU #9
1999 - Michigan #5, MSU #7
There are numerous other instances of one or the other being in the top 10 and the other team being somewhere in the teens. That site for historic year-end AP polls is here - LINK.
I believe that we were #3 going into the MSU game in 1999, and State might have been #10 or #11 in the poll that week. Not sure about that though.

I think that, by the rules of "juju", the culprit's next exam will have a section where the answer is either "Bobby Williams" or "John L. Smith", depending on the painful (for them) moment in Spartan football being described. Their next bluebook will be the answer to this - explain the following: "That's a dang coaching mistake."

Offray, a backup cornerback, will have to pay an additional fine for hampering the investigation by attempting to use his friend's name at the jail before quickly admitting his real identity -- and thus dodging a felony.
Wow, there's a friend you want to have in Offray. Anything more serious and he's probably throwing Mike Gundy under the bus. Actually, he should have tried that here just to see how well it would go over. Go big or go home in these situations.

"I've been called the N-word so many times this year," Gardner told the Detroit News. "One guy told me I was the N-word, and said, 'I know N-words can't play quarterback.' And I was like, 'Are we not past this?' Say what you want about my skill, but come on."
Like someone mentioned, this sad phenomenon is not unique to this fanbase, but let me just reiterate that anyone who states a similar racist belief on this blog will be sent to Bolivia, then banned, and then have his/her belongings peed on by a horse with the runs. It is incredibly sad that in 2014 there are still such a**holes out there and worse that they have had access to social media.
|1 day 18 hours ago||Ah, Yes...||
This was the second game I took my wife to actually - the first was Braylonfest.
Another classic Mike Hart performance, of course - 36 carries, 218 yards and 1 rushing TD. As I recall from the boxscore (for some reason I remember it), Chad Henne accounted for the other half of the offense that day with something like 3 TDs. I believe there was one pick too. Two week later, if I remember, was "TOUCHDOWN MANNINGHAM!"
|1 day 20 hours ago||Even Though....||
Even though you used the sarcasm tag, the answer probably actually involves some stats, just not necessarily football stats. Life's weird like that, even taking into consideraton, well, stats.
|1 day 21 hours ago||Massey Simulator...||
The base matchup (i.e., if you played a random game) on Massey's simulator actually slightly favors the Royals, but if you keep running the best of seven simulator the Giants actually win most of the time in their simulations interestingly enough. As for me, I would tend to lean with the Giants based on the numbers (probably in six), but part of me is at least interested in seeing if the Royals can chuck the numbers and pull it off.
|1 day 21 hours ago||At Least Before...||
My own take on this involves my own acculturation into Michigan fandom really, but growing up, the order for most everyone I knew was OSU, ND and then MSU and it was pretty unwavering save for the years that ND went on the odd hiatus (now a long, odd hiatus of course). It seemed to match the perception of the teams at the time - OSU was virtually always neck-and-neck with us in the conference, ND was the premiere OOC game most years and MSU was a game with a team that was occasionally competing basically.
Without ND, I think it becomes - by tradition - OSU and MSU, but it seems like it has been a 1A and 1B relationship in more recent years.

I am thinking that this deserves some sort of catered affair with an open bar as well, along with speeches from regulars both past and present plus a presentation of completely made up awards by the staff to various MGoDenizens.

At 29 downvotes and descending, I think this is another CC thread that has run its course when it comes to the usefulness of the replies and it would be difficult to salvage anyway...
CC: Any Chance John Harbaugh comes to UM and keeps Brady on Staff with Mattison?
|2 days 18 hours ago||To Be Fair...||
To be fair, of course, there was not a whole lot of reason at the time to believe that things would be any different for MSU, so there is that - Dantonio was not exactly a name at the time. You can't really project the last seven years back and say that it was not a reasonable conclusion when in 2007 we were absent those seven years of data at the time. Hindsight is always 20/20, right?
|2 days 20 hours ago||Offensive FEI...||
I saw this thread and looked up offensive FEI numbers for explosive, methodical and value drives and the rankings are as follows over the last couple years:
The value drives are the drives which begin in Michigan territory, in this case, and at least get to the opponent's thirty yard line. The methodical drives are the drives which last more than 10 plays. The explosive drives are drives where the plays average 10 yards or more.
I'll be honest - I can live with being third quartile in explosive drives so long as you can manage the other two on a semi-regular basis, but I wonder...
|2 days 22 hours ago||Optimism...||
I think a fair number of people here were in the 9-3 or 8-4 camp (with an undercurrent of 7-5 and 6-6 folks), and based on what the general consensus was at the time regarding the schedule and the optimism about a new OC and - dare we dream - development on the OL with a dedicated scheme in place, it was a pretty reasonable guess. That's just the data - the smidge of data - we had at the time.
I was one such person, and that's fine really. Having seen the season play out to date and to see our estimated prospects of bowl eligibility currently sitting aroung 15% per Massey's new numbers, yeah, obviously the outlook is quite adjusted with game data now insertable.
|2 days 22 hours ago||Saving His Job...||
Others have touched on it, but at this point, I don't think any landmark hire necessarily equates to forgiveness in the case of David Brandon. The problems are larger than just the performance of the football program and things like the monetization of tradition, the disrespect that comes from longtime season ticket holders and others being treated merely as consumers, and what amounts to rather cold attitude towards the people who cheer for this program are symptoms of a bigger disconnect in the department. There's no guarantee that this changes even with a big name hire short of Brandon either being effectively neutralized as a director somehow or simply let go.
|3 days 2 hours ago||The Methodical Drives....||
Actually, the rankings for Explosive, Methodical and Value drives for Michigan State seem to pain an interesting picture. They are #86 in explosive drives at 0.161, which is the percentage of drives averaging 10 yards per play or more, but #3 in methodical drives at 0.016 - that is the percentage of drives averaging 10 plays or more. MSU is also in the top 25 in value drives, or the percentage of plays that at least reach the 30 yard line. If there is a weakness in there, and we saw it in the Indiana game, it is the odd explosive play. Our chances are not great, of course, but there are avenues to make it interesting perhaps anyway.

|3 days 7 hours ago||The Projection....||
Well, if nothing else, the projection over at Massey has us scoring a couple times anyway despite giving us an estimated 8% probability of winning this game. They are going with the 35-14 median projected score based on their simulation. I think the Sagarin ratings might have painted a similar picture of a potential 3 TD underdog too.
|3 days 15 hours ago||Great And Popular...||
Not only a great event, but a popular one as well. I believe the HOCR regularly draws a few hundred thousand now, bolstered some by the fact that there is typically some international representation in the regatta as well. Does anyone know if we've we got a team in the Head Of The Schuykill as well?
