For all we know, that's what he talked to the team about.

I think she was saying that the ratio of home price to income is much higher in some parts of country than others, so that people judging income levels from different areas have misleading ideas about what those lifestyles are like.
I think the article could have been improved with some actual data to show this though.
I live in Los Angeles, so I have a visceral feel for the point she was trying to make, although she didn't make it very well. Incomes are inflated here relative to the rest of the country, but not enough to be in proportion to the cost of housing.
( In Ann Arbor, home price to income ratio is about 2. In San Francisco it is 5.5! )

Chart added for completeness.

Who has the time to make a chart for something like this?
|8 weeks 3 days ago||My point||
I don't see it that way. The message does not deny what happened.
But my point is that the tone of the message should be interpreted in relation to its purpose and its intended audience. I don't think that's controversial.

I think the implication is that a few of their members were cooperating with people from outside the fraternity.
But let's remember that this letter was not written for the public. From the perspective of the larger group of fraternity members and alumni, it is a small group of them that has embarassed them all. I don't have a problem with them internally reminding themselves of their positive attributes at at time like this. Would be a different story if this was supposed to be their public apology.

I can't wait to find out what is supposed to happen in November 2022.

This is so much better than the fake rivarly-drumming talk that Urban does and all the leaving out M's and such, and that Hoke kinda did too with calling them Ohio.
The rivalry doesn't need that BS. It needs two great teams playing against each other for high stakes.
Jim's gonna bring it to them on the field, not in the media.

Isn't this the widget we already have on the middle right column?

Well I read it as pretty tongue in cheek but what do I know.
You could hear them talking about Hackett in the original video. The sound file is only mildly altered from the video.
But I do agree with your sentiment. What two men say in the privacy of a national television broadcast should be left to national television broadcast.

The real danger is that our fan base ends up on the bottom of the sense of humor list.

Drive. Yes, I like this theory. Makes a lot more sense with "all he needs is three hours of sleep" than tie.
Although, given Jim's aversion to choosing clothes, we might hold open the possibility that he thinks choosing a tie requires long hours of sleep, so I'm not calling this solved just yet.

You say that as if there's something wrong with a little bit weird and creepy.

I honestly don't get why people are so angry at these guys. They were reporting what they heard from their perspective; they were slow to get on board and were generally conservative in their reporting. Rapaport and Shefter seemed very professional about it the whole time to me. So what makes people so upset at them, that they were wrong initially? That they were saying things we didn't want to hear? This was a situation where everyone was speculating based on incomplete information from second-hand sources.
I'd much rather have reporters that are conservative with their opinions and wrong, than reporters who are wildly speculating to get clicks by telling fans what they want to hear.
I just don't see anything wrong with what they did, aside from being wrong. which is not a crime.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||I agree||
Yeah I agree but presumably even a trade deal for draft picks would involve the Raiders talking to him at some point, so I don't see why the 49ers would block that unless they just don't really want him in Oakland under any circumstances (which is possible).
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Tampering Rules||
Once the season is over for the 49ers, they can grant permission for other teams to talk to him. Or, if his contract ends one way or another then anyone can talk to him.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||My guess||
"I'm sorry, but I'm not going to comment on that. As Bo Schembechler used to say, keep your focus on what's in front of you. That's what I plan to do. Next question."

|24 weeks 9 min ago||My story||
I've told this one before, but it's a good one! My freshman year I was in Intro Psych and I got paired up with this guy to do a project with. We had to design, implement, and write up an experiment. So he and I came up with this idea to test the hypothesis that women eat differently depending on the social context.
We went into the cafeteria in South Quad and observed people eating, counted who they were eating with, etc., and wrote it up. Our hypothesis was not borne out, but that wasn't the point -- we learned a lot and got a pretty good score on our paper.
Towards the end of the semester I asked him what courses he was going to take next, and he said "actually, I'm going to play baseball instead". I thought that sounded pretty ridiculous. Good luck with that, Derek!
Welp, he became Derek Jeter, and I became a professor of psychology.

I've lived in LA for almost 20 years now, since I left Ann Arbor. I can't remember the last time we had such an advisory.
Also I work at USC. Traffic doesn't really affect the students, as most of them live on or next to campus, which continues to improve -- Downtown LA is going through a huge rennaissance and new construction projects near campus are bringing more new commerce and community.
