Would love to see something like this in Pontiac. I could help by getting some vacant lots and volunteers together.

Surprised that nobody has mentioned Sergeant York. Great war movie with Gary Cooper in the title role. Also The Best Years of Our Lives which depicts the plight of three soldiers after they return home. I believe both won Academy Awards for Best Picture.

Because he's 13-13 all-time in NFL postseason play but the NFL promotes him like he's 26-0.

I have an original program from every bowl game Michigan has ever played, starting with the 1948 Rose Bowl to last week's Citrus Bowl. Post 1975, most of them were obtained in person at the game. The only bowl game I don't have is the 1902 Rose Bowl. The last program I saw for that game went for over $20,000 in a Leland's auction about ten years ago.
As someone else replied, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. There are a ton of Michigan programs out there.

My daughter just ordered our tickets (4). Was told no student id needed at the game, tix will be all together in the student sections. Couldn't tell her where that would be ahead of time. Ours will be mailed out from UM Ticket Dept. the week of Dec. 21st. Hope this helps.

Just looking at this lineup of nondescript bowl games and teams, I am reminded that we didn't even go to one of those fleabag bowls last year.
Thank God for Harbaugh!

I also attended the infamous 2000 Michigan-Illinois game at their place, the infamous A-Train fumble game. Other than the typical Sparty and Buckeye fans, it was the worst group of opposing fans I ever saw. Anyway, the very next day after that game, the Lions happened to be playing the Bears in Soldier Field. My buddies and I went to that game as well, all of us wearing our Michigan gear. In the first quarter, a drunken Bears fan and his friends started screaming at us that Michigan should have lost the game the prior evening. This rant went on until about halftime when I calmly turned around and yelled back: "Your great team gave up over 500 yards yesterday, including over 300 yards rushing. You didn't deserve to win shit." He looked at his buddies, and one of them replied: "Yeah, he's right". Shut them up the rest of the game (which the Lions won, incidentally).

That player wasn't a running back, it was QB Art Schlichter. Woody promised him if he came to OSU he would start immediately (which is what happened). When Schlichter (and his dad BTW) wanted the same guarantee from Bo, he was told he would have to earn it on the field.

At the very least, I'm hopeful that the conference can rescind Bolden's targeting penalty. It won't change the Sparty game, but rescinding it is important. Why? The next one, legitimate or not (kinda like Ross against Northwestern) against Bolden kicks him out for the year, I believe. If someone can verify or disprove, please do so.

Well it's refreshing to see that the Big Ten admitted the head referee made a mistake in informing Hoke that a timeout could not be used to put Gardner back in after he lost his helmet. What about admitting the mistake that the same head referee made when he didn't call the late hit by the Minnesota defensive end? He was standing about 10 feet away from the hit and still didn't call it! Is that referee going to be calling any Michigan games this year? He shouldn't be refereeing college football anywhere as far as I'm concerned. He should be fired for not knowing the rules and not knowing a late hit when said late hit is literally staring him in the face!

There is specific language in the MI FOIA law that exempts disclosure of information on criminal cases that are still 'under investigation' or 'open'. If they were investigated and closed without prosecution, they are fair game to be disclosed under FOIA. Also, the statute of limitations would likely cover most of the criminal prosecutions in this time frame as well, making prosecutions extremely unlikely and thus FOIA disclosable .

I have the entire 1989 NCAA run (6 games). I originally taped them on vhs and later transferred them to dvd. Also the 1992 and 1993 final four games with the Fab Five.
It's nice to sit back and watch those games every once in a while.

Growing up in Oakland County, I really didn't have a favorite college team. The Spartans ruled the roost and got a lot of publicity in the mid 1960's, but for some reason I just didn't like them. Then my friend's dad who was a high school referee got tickets to the '69 game. He took us, and from then I was hooked. Decided right then that I was going to Ann Arbor for college. Lived through what has been called the greatest era of Michigan football, the 10 Year War. Hated Woody but respected him. Of course I loved Bo (he reminded me of my own Dad in many ways). Graduated in 1978 and never looked back. Both of my kids are students at UM now. Life is a circle, and our family's circle is the University of Michigan.

Took my 8 year old son to the game, and even though I had taken him to previous games this is the first one he can actually remember. Was going to leave after PSU scored in the 4th quarter but he talked me into staying. Went crazy with him after Manningham scored! Great father-son moment. Now he will be a freshman this fall with his own student seats in the Big House. Time sure does fly!

(Sorry in advance for the formatting)
Age: 58 Occupation: Judge
Location: Metro Detroit Alum: Yes, LS & A (1978). Most Michigan thing ever done: Been to literally hundreds of Michigan football and basketball games over the years. Have only missed two bowl games since 1977. Saw Charles White's 'phantom fumble' at the Rose Bowl in 1979; how many people remember that there was a 4.2 earthquake at the Rose Bowl during the third quarter of that game? My daugher is a current student (junior) and her brother will join her as a freshman this fall. The funniest thing Michigan related that I ever did was during the second year of the Fab Five while attending the home game v. Wisconsin. The Badgers were coached by Stu Jackson (who later went on to be a coach and GM in the NBA). Even then, Stu was well known for his sartorial style and was easily the best dressed basketball coach in the Big Ten.
Second row behind the Badgers bench, I brought a huge hand made sign that read: "Stu: You're styling like Billy Dee, but you're coaching like Ruby Dee!" I waited until a crucial moment in the second half before unveiling the banner. I yelled at Stu and he looked around at me and the banner. He started cracking up, and pointed the sign out to his assistants who also cracked up. Then the Badger players saw it and they all started laughing. He then gave me a big thumbs up and turned back to the game. I still have the banner.

Both my daugher (soph at Michigan) and son (freshman to be at Michigan) have State of Michigan MESP plans. I know I can still contribute to my son's plan, but does anyone know if I can still contribute to my daugher's plan even though she's already in college? Searched misaves.com and can't find the pertinent info. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

"...like most popular sports, it's drawn its talent from disproportionately poor and awful places."
Isn't this very similar to what Larry Foote was trying to say a few months ago? That we needed to be recruiting more athletes from these places?

Papa Bear started the notoriously cheap tradition of the Bears. When paying his players, he threw nickels around like manhole covers.

I saw Bruce at the Syracuse basketball game, it looked like he was sitting in the front row. Coincidence? Michigan could do a lot worse than rehiring Bruce...if he wanted to come back.

Tell that to Mike Martin and Willie Henry's lower legs after they were deliberately chop-blocked by Spartan offensive lineman. And incurred penalties for it.
