Crazy what happens when you play your best players in their best positions. Somehow it took klinsmann 6 years to figure out Bradley is a 6. Nagbe and Wood should both be starting. Get beckerman and Zardes out of the lineup. Why zusi is playing over Bedoya I'll never understand either.
|10 hours 59 min ago||Eh, this group is a little||
Eh, this group is a little better than you're giving them credit for, even if they are hamstrung by Klinsmann's deficiencies as a tactical coach. They're not going to win the World Cup anytime soon, but you don't think they'd be in a much better position to compete with a solid backline and a good attacking mid? Of course they're not Germany, but they're ranked 25th in the world right now. The additions I suggested would make them a very solid team, even though that doesn't fit with the current pretty negative narrative among fans who I'm assuming don't even watch most of the games until the World Cup starts.

Hopefully that guy goes nowhere near the field in copa as well.
|11 hours 30 min ago||USMNT are two players away||
USMNT are two players away from being really good. Need a LB to solidify the back line and an AM capable of allowing Bradley to slide back to his more natural DM role.
|11 hours 32 min ago||We really don't have a LB,||
We really don't have a LB, unless you'd want to play Timmy Chandler there. I'd probably rather play a man down than ever give Timmy another minute of action, but that's just me.
|19 hours 27 min ago||Curry wasn't even in the top||
Curry wasn't even in the top 30 for minutes played among NBA players this year because he sat out the entire 4th quarter in so many games. I don't think getting more rest was the issue; that wouldn't have prevented him from slipping on a wet spot on the floor in Houston and hurting his knee.
|23 hours 19 min ago||I mean, he's clearly not||
I mean, he's clearly not 100%. And two bad games don't change everything else he's done. Even if GS loses game 5, Curry has already changed the game.

Anything with a distinct Penn State flavor has to taste pretty terrible, no?

I still don't understand how a forklift could've actually run him over and not broken anything. Forklifts are heavy, right? How was this only a 2-3 week injury?
|2 days 8 hours ago||That's what I'm saying. We||
That's what I'm saying. We need to replace some of the cupcakes with teams that will still be easy Ws but have higher RPIs. And we really need another high major team on the schedule. It might be too late to fix that, though.
|2 days 8 hours ago||I'm sure they have and I||
I'm sure they have and I actually think buzz Williams is a good coach but, like you said, they're still not good. Do we really think a non-conference schedule of VT, two of Pitt/Marquette/SMU, UCLA, Cincinnati and cupcakes is that much better than the non-conference slate that almost kept us out of the tournament last year?

I didn't say it was.
|2 days 10 hours ago||I know. I'd like to see||
I know. I'd like to see another high major team on the schedule, especially at the expense of one of the cupcakes we hopefully learned to avoid after last year.
|2 days 11 hours ago||Yuck. We need to schedule one||
Yuck. We need to schedule one more high major team. And get rid of the 300+ RPI anchors.
|2 days 18 hours ago||Michigan could legitimately||
Michigan could legitimately end up with the top 7 or 8 kids in the state for this class. Crazy.
|2 days 18 hours ago||If I had to choose one I'd||
If I had to choose one I'd take Young but it would be nice to land them both. That would give us a raw, athletic prospect with a high ceiling (Cain) and a skilled, more polished kid with a relatively high floor (Young). Add another good prospect to Young, Cain and Poole (who I love) and we'd have a really solid class.
|2 days 18 hours ago||This is good, I guess, but||
This is good, I guess, but the only position it really applies to is big men. Historically, Beilein has signed a number of wings and guards (Dawkins, GRIII, Chatman, Stauskas, Ibi Watson, DJ Wilson, Hardaway, Irvin, LeVert) that were/are athletic. It's mostly been the 5 spot that has suffered from a lack of emphasis on athleticism.

Said this in the original thread about Levert's injury and didn't get a response: am I the only one who doesn't understand how Michigan put him out on the floor against Purdue with a Jones fracture??
|1 week 2 days ago||What does that have to do||
What does that have to do with people incorrectly questioning his toughness and desire to play?

Michigan put Caris back on the court against Purdue with a Jones fracture? That seems bad.

I mean, Ausmus went to the playoffs his first year here. He's terrible, though.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Whether his gams could||
Whether his gams could translate depends on what he'd be asked to do. Carry the offense? No. Become a go-to scorer? No. Provide some athleticism, rebounding, defense, and finishing at the rim? Definitely. He'd have a role here because he'd be bringing a lot of what our team lacks.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Guess who gave Harden that||
Guess who gave Harden that 3rd place vote? None other than Houston Rockets play-by-play guy, Bill Worrell.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I actually think the exact||
I actually think the exact opposite is true. Michigan is going to get into the playoff any year they either go undefeated or win the Big Ten title with only one loss, regardless of their non-conference slate. Scheduling difficult non-conference opponents just increases the possibility that we'd lose in the non-conference, completely removing our margin for error against the diificult teams in the Big Ten. If we don't play anybody and remain undefeated before the Big Ten schedule starts, we can afford to drop a game during the conference season and still get into the playoff.
In that sense, a weaker non-conference gives a team like Michigan no risks at all.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Yeah, this is pretty much how||
Yeah, this is pretty much how I see it. And basically what the situation will be every year for us so, in that respect, it's almost better not to play a tough out of conference slate. The only thing I would add is that if we were undefeated going into the Big Ten title game and lost to like a 3 loss Wisconsin team or something, it's possible that we still could get in if it happens to be a weak year in terms of competition for the last playoff spot or two.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||No, it doesn't. If we lose||
No, it doesn't. If we lose once on the road to OSU, MSU, or Iowa but still win the Big Ten, we're in the playoff. If the same thing happens but we don't win the Big Ten, we're not in the playoff. It's as simple as that.
If we lose once, beat OSU, and win the Big Ten title, resulting in both OSU and us only having one loss, it's not going to matter that the Buckeyes beat Oklahoma during the non-conference scheudle and we didn't really play anybody. We'll be in the playoff, and they won't. A one loss, Big Ten champion Michigan team isn't getting left out.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||What makes you think Michigan||
What makes you think Michigan is going to struggle against weaker opponents?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||This is true, it just doesn't||
This is true, it just doesn't really matter. If we finish the regular season undefeated, we'll be in the playoff (and still might be even with one loss, provided it doesn't occur in the Big Ten title game).
