|11 weeks 3 days ago||Robertson||
Robertson predates MJ not sure being too young is an issue. The Big "O" was the first player to average 10 assists/g and the only player to average a triple double for a season. His lack of rings is due to the Celtics dominance in a league with limited player movement. I am not sure Jordan would have as many rings if the Bulls had to build a team around him with the limited player movement exhibited during Robertson's era. Regardless, they are both great players and being from different era's it's hard to compare the two.
|14 weeks 5 days ago||The Derby||
The Derby pays the most out of the TC races with a purse of 2 million. The winner takes 60% but out of that the trainer and jockey each take a 10% cut the rest goes to the owner.
In the US the largest purse is the Breeders Cup Classic with a purse of 5 million, The Dubai World Cup has the highest purse in the world at 10 million. Just because I am at it the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, probably the most prestigious race in the world, carries a purse of 5 million euro.

For breeding you really look for winners of Grade 1 stakes. Sires who produce high numbers of Grade 1 winners (even if they are in sprints or turf races) command the highest stud fees and even more so if the offspring tend to be precocious. As far as times go not so much because there can be lots of factors that influence time. An old handicapping adage is "time only matters if you are in prision or waiting for the bus." Also, even though Chromes times were not good he would still be viewed as one of the best of his generation because of the races he has won. Cali Chrome having lower stud value will be tied more to his lack of a strong pedigree than his winning times; if he was out of A.P. Indy he would command much more value even with the same winning times.
However, when buying bloodstock time can matter. Young horses for sale tend to do a little workout usually like 2 furlongs (quarter mile) and their time sometimes influences buyers. The Green Monkey is a famous example because his pedigree was terrible but he ran a flashy time and ended upbeing purchased for a record 16 million, he ended up being a complete bust fwiw.
|14 weeks 5 days ago||They didn't expand the field||
Back then owners didn't push as much to win a triple crown race. Now everyone wants to take a shot at winning one of them and you almost always end up with full fields in all 3 races.
|14 weeks 5 days ago||Horse racing money||
Horse racing money is in the breeding shed; something casual fans often miss. Winning any of the Triple crown races significantly increases stud value. For example one of England's best horses in recent memory named Frankel went 14-0 and won 4.7 million US$. His first season stud fee was 125k pounds. After his first breeding season he hulled in over 20 million US$. So you can say the Triple Crown is meaningless but to a breeder in means Speed and Stamina.
|28 weeks 3 days ago||Albert White||
Glad you mentioned him. I was a big fan of White for the one year he was at UM. I thought he had a great game but he never lived up to his potential. Also Olivier Saint Jean was pretty good too.
|32 weeks 6 days ago||49ers over Broncos 55-10||
49ers were the only number 1 offense to beat a number one defense in points allowed. Importantly, the niners had the 3rd best scoring defense. That San Francisco team was very good, 2 losses by combined 5 points.
|35 weeks 4 days ago||Rivalries||
I think rivalries should be broken down into Traditional vs. Temporary (for lack of a better term).
For me outside of Michigan OSU most of the traditional rivalries don't interest me that much. Army Navy would probably be second on my list.
I much prefer what I will call temporary rivalries were you have 2 teams that are really really good at the same time (obviously this can happen with traditionals too). For example Red Wings and Avalanche during the late 90s was great while it lasted. The teams hated each other and were very good.
|36 weeks 1 day ago||Also||
Defense atleast in football relies more on the unit as a whole. Offense on the other hand can depend on the performance of 1 or 2 great players.
I know I might be cherry picking but when Dennis Dixon went down for Oregon in 2007 the team totally collapsed; even getting shut out by a 5-5 UCLA team. Also, see Michigan-Nebraska after Denard went out. On the other hand defenses seem to be less effected by losing their best player, MSU without Bullough. Importantly, this holds true not just for injury/suspension but also having a bad game. Great offenses can look average when their star player is held in check.
|36 weeks 6 days ago||Not that this really matters||
but Louisville, KY is loo-uh-vul or something like loo-vul or loo-uh-ville but never louie-ville.
|40 weeks 2 days ago||Blake||
Blake played for the Bengals and was an average to above average starter from my memory. Buckley was also pretty good.
Emtman was a beast but injuries plagued his career; amazing how far medicine has progressed since the 90's.
I feel old now.

Louisville is awesome, my favorite city by far (atleast for places I would want to live).

Proud of this team. Nice to have a HC with balls. Didn't go or way but really proud of the team.

I say we go with some Jeremy Scott designed uniformz. Blow what ever everyone else has out of the water. Our helmets have wings. Why not the shoes?
|44 weeks 2 days ago||Onside Kicking||
Watching the end of the Stanford Oregon game got me thinking about teams who onside kick a lot (as in the OP). Oregon was able to get one out of three, I believe. I was thinking a team like Oregon or Indiana should onside more often. With a high powered offense why not try to increase possessions? Indiana has such a poor defense not sure field position is that valuable.
|44 weeks 3 days ago||Two Points||
1. Robinson is not currently playing Bball for Michigan.
2. Unfortunately, Robinson, post UM, has been a disaster.
|47 weeks 5 days ago||Mizzou||
Mizzou has a decent resume so far, better than Ohio. I would have a hard time putting someone else ahead of them.
|50 weeks 3 days ago||Ay Ziggy Zommba||
The peace pipe was better but understand it had to go; it really didn't have much history. Too bad they couldn't have made a better trophy like a Falcon holding a Rocket in its talons or something. Honestly, I would rather have a piece of asphalt as the trophy than the current one.

Maybe he was listening to Josh Groban.

Some examples of this idea would be the Equine Industry Program at University of Louisville or the Race Track Industry Program at Arizona. Both are geared towards individuals interested in careers in horse racing.

Joe States passing to a wide open Scary Ice.
The best part was killing the refs was a 5 yard penalty.
|51 weeks 1 day ago||As a Cardinals Fan||
As a Cardinals fan I agree 100%. I really wanted Pujols to finish his career in St. Louis but not for the money he wanted; 200 million was too much IMO, glad the Angels stepped up to the plate and offered even more.
|51 weeks 6 days ago||We are||
We are 112th in TO margin and the offense has given up a TD in 3 straight games. Gardner still has not completed a game without an int. Hopefully that gets fixed.
|51 weeks 6 days ago||Glad to see||
Glad to see the lack of misogyny and no homophobic slurs.
|51 weeks 6 days ago||Defense||
Defense basically gave up 7. Not going to hold that 10 yard TD drive against them. More importantly the D line did show improvement, we got a sack with a 3 man rush. I think the D is good enough to win the Big 10 but the turnovers need to stop and the offense is really lost.
