“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

I'm sort of amused that just after the post that ends "We have tile floors at work, so it wasn't too bad of a mess" comes the post that describes your boss almost crapping her pants.
Whether or not pants have been crapped truly is the gold standard of April Fools pranks.

What about Wichita State? Has anyone watched them play much this year? Undefeated, but they also haven't played another NCAA tourney team since December.

I don't really like the current blue jerseys with that weird curve over the chest (just above the Adidas and B1G logos). It always looks like the cut of a coctail dress to me. The maize jerseys have the same thing but it doesn't stand out so much to me there.
The new ones look fine, like others I'd prefer it say Michigan instead, but not a big deal to me either way.

I can think of at least two cities with NFL teams in Ohio that are smaller than Detroit.

There is no right to not feeling uncomfortable, or even to not feeling vulnerable if that feeling is fully unjustified. The aim is not and cannot be eliminating discomfort. It is not disputed that somebody might end up feeling uncomfortable if they end up sharing a shower with an openly gay man. The question is whether that discomfort is valid, in the sense of representing a reasonable feeling of endangerment.
Many are arguing here that it is not. As I gather, the argument to the contrary seems to revolve around the legitimacy of feeling discomfort because of the vague possibility of unreciprocated sexual thoughts, as if that is the sole reason why we choose to segregate locker rooms by gender.
|23 weeks 3 days ago||So, to respond to the old||
So, to respond to the old "What about the daughters?!" question:
If you had daughters, I guess you would not be fine with other guys seeing their knees? How could a guy avoid "taking a peek" at the sight of a naked female knee?! Every straight guy who has ever been 14 knows for a fact that this kind of thing happens a great deal.
Nevertheless, unless you're really unusually repressive, your daughters can wear shorts nowadays when 200 years ago it would've seemed outrageously titillating. What matters is not what anyone could conceivably have a sexual thought about, but what is the accepted norm.
Here's another question for those who think that a person's sexual interests make all the difference in how you could be comfortable with them seeing you. Would you be uncomfortable wearing a leather jacket around a guy who is open about incorporating leather into his sexual practices? What about a woman who is more turned on by a man in a suit than a naked man? Should such women, if they are open about this, be excluded from workplaces where men commonly wear suits?

Don't worry, that part's just symbolic. You're not going to live through the drawing and quartering.

It's unusual, but not unheard of. David Dawson did it, for instance. What seems to be more common is a "committed" recruit openly looking around, and then committing to the school they were supposedly already committed to (like Vic Enwere did last week). But that is not likely to be tolerated by our coaches.

For real. All those "doctor smarts" may be hot stuff in a hospital, but what's it ever gonna be used for out there in the real world?

I'll just chip in to agree with this. Dislike Tressel for lying, winning, and being pompous about it all you want. I'm not too worked up about it myself, but understand why others are. Trying to equate that with raping children for rhetorical effect, however, is really freaking distasteful.

Hate it if you want, but it's completely false that the campus is surrounded by slums, unless you are referring to the so-called "gourmet ghetto" on the northwest side of campus.

Off topic for this thread but also META:
Is the navigation to older threads on the MGoBoard broken for anyone else? It has never worked for me. If I click the arrow to go to the next page, I instead get the first page of Diaries. It has always been like this. And this happens on both the sidebar version and the full page version of the board.
Not a big deal as most threads I'm likely to want to continue following are ones that are still very active (so accessible under the "Hot" tab) or ones I've commented on (so accessible through my mgopoints history). I just imagine it can't only be me, as it happens for me on every computer and every web browser I've tried.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||Whether it was worth that||
Whether it was worth that amount of money or not isn't the question.
The question is whether the numbers in the contract represented approximately what was required by Hoke, or whether they instead represented a general sense of what a great coach at Michigan would be paid nowadays.
The argument is that a coach's salary ought to be determined by personal market value, not the school imitating what they see comparable schools paying their highly successful and established coaches (though in some cases those numbers certainly could be the same).

Cal won't be hiring for another couple years at minimum. They were terrible this year, but their coach was in his first year. Even if they wanted to bail on the new coach (which they don't, yet), they don't have the cash for another buyout (Tedford got around 5 million I think). I do agree that that's probably around the level of job that Narduzzi is probably shooting for, though.

If they're going to whine about the PI call, then they should also include the fact that they lost by 11. It's not like the ensuing TD was the decisive score.

I lived in 38?? Taylor, so one floor down. Don't remember the rest of the number. Granted this was the late 90s, so nearly a decade late. Nevertheless it's more or less guaranteed that we would have hooked up if she had stopped by South Quad to look in on her old room at any point in 1997.

It's hard to argue that ND was in the NC just because of riding the media train. They were undefeated. Okay, they didn't look great getting there, but no other eligible team was 12-0.

I don't think it's because the Emperor never taught him. After all, Dooku used it often in the prequel trilogy. Also, in the Force Unleashed video games, Vader's apprentice Starkiller used it liberally.
I would guess that it has to do with much of Vader's body being robotic. It could conceivably be impossible to shoot force lightning through robotic arms. But even if not, you could imagine that it would be a bad idea to mess with it when you are kept alive by electronic life support.

Hadn't the Governor's crew already left for the prison at that point? That's why Andrea was talking to the people at the wall, to see where they'd gone.
But yeah, my assumption was that the driver of the van just took off back through the gates after getting out of the truck. Why would she have stuck around?
I didn't really get the guy in the tower though. How did he get there, and were they just planning to ditch him?
