I don't get it either. This seems to me to be basically the standard haircut for a guy. This is what you get if you go to the barber and say "just a trim". What am I missing?

Cal, though I don't follow them that closely in recent years. There was a time when I followed both teams about equally, but it got a little exhausting needing to watch two full games every fall Saturday.

Pretty sure an Atari equivalent of this has been on the market for years, too.

No, I don't believe it will take old cartridges or have any means of expanding beyond the 30 built-in games.

Oh yeah! I forget about CJ Anderson since he really wasn't that productive in college. I guess Cal was too hard on the decline at that point for him to have the same opportunity the four I mentioned had.
|31 weeks 2 days ago||Best was probably the second||
Best was probably the second most fun to watch player I've seen (after Denard, obviously). Like Denard he was so much faster than everyone else that once he got past the linemen, there was a good chance he was going to score no matter where on the field they were. It seemed he was good for a 70+ yard run at least once a game.
Cal really had an impressive run of RBs in the late 00s: Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett, Jahvid Best, Shane Vereen. I don't think Vereen has been a starter in the NFL but he's played a decent amount.

Yup. I mean he has basically admitted that he did it. There was that book he wrote, "If I Did It" I think, in which his attempt to pretend to be speaking hypothetically lasted for about a half page.
|50 weeks 6 days ago||As I see it the problem with||
As I see it the problem with this kind of service is that you still need high speed internet access, and for now that is pretty much exclusively coming from the cable companies. The cable plans are already set up so that getting just internet without cable is a bad deal (it's usually cheaper but not that much cheaper).
So few people will truly be able to ditch their cable company at this point. At current prices cable internet + Playstation Vue will probably be more expensive than cable internet + cable, and probably less reliable.

|1 year 2 days ago||It might depend a little bit||
It might depend a little bit on the discipline, but in most cases I'm aware of, it's no different since you will satisfy all requirements for the Masters in the process of earning the Ph.D.
Having a Ph.D and a Masters (in the same field) should be looked on as no more prestigious than having only the Ph.D.
But as others said below, I think 5-7 years is typical in a lot of fields, but in some (especially humanities), 7-10 is closer to the norm.

I have the same thing happening on both Chrome and Firefox. As someone else noted, you can solve this problem by making the browser either sufficiently wide or sufficiently narrow. However, at least on my 13.3" screen, "sufficiently wide" is wider than the screen itself, and "sufficiently narrow" is also rather unnaturally narrow.

US News rankings are justly criticized, but the larger point that UC Berkeley is widely considered the top public university in the US is still true. This is also the case in the QS rankings (which also rank UCLA above UM).
(Interestingly, in QS, UVa falls far down the list at 172, even behind MSU at 164.)

|1 year 3 weeks ago||I guess you had it really||
I guess you had it really hard, except that the <$5/hr you made with that job has increased at a rate a little lower than inflation, while tuition has increased at a rate many times that of inflation.
The numbers: from 1991 to today,
Nowadays you can work fulltime year round in a minimum wage job and earn just barely enough to cover instate UM tuition & fees. Forget living expenses. And that's 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, so it's not like going to school is going to work out in that extreme situation anyway.
I went to school in the late 90s. I had it far easier than students today, and like it or not, so did you.

I have one sort of similar to Ace's story, but this was a serious, ongoing, longterm relationship. If I were to make this into a long story instead of a short one, you would understand that this isn't so much a "worst breakup" as a "most hilariously apropos breakup".
I had been dating this girl for about 5 years. During the last year she was working in a different city about an hour away. One week I was coming to her city for work reasons and we said if possible we'd get lunch. We hadn't made definite plans, so that day when I called and found she was at the airport on the way to Singapore, I wasn't perturbed. It was a little odd she hadn't told me she was going, but it wasn't unusual for her to travel abroad for work. About a week later, I get an email: "Umm...remember when I was at the airport? Actually, I was moving to Singapore."
Never spoke to her again, although she tried to get back in touch a few times and moved back to the US about a year later. Totally cutting off contact was probably the best relationship move I ever made.

I'm too young to have been a fan in the 70s, but I've been a big fan of his earlier output for years. I was aware of him growing up but a decade or so ago I felt kind of bored with the music I had, and looking for something new, decided to educate myself on the music of the 70s. Really getting to know David Bowie completely blew me away.
I never really paid much attention to his more recent stuff. But after hearing the news (and yep I got it from mgoblog first) I listened to the new album a couple times and watched the two videos. The album is fantastic from start to finish, and the two videos are superbly creepy and haunting.
It's amazing that he had the capability to foresee his own death and put out such a moving statement on it in a way that is so clearly recognizable as uniquely his own style.
|1 year 7 weeks ago||This is exactly what should||
This is exactly what should happen. I don't care in the slightest if there are sub-.500 teams playing in bowl games. What annoys me is the fact that schools are submitting to a system that rips them off year after year. They have the power in this. If the NCAA would just say this is how it's going to work, that's what would happen.
Unfortunately the NCAA doesn't exist to represent the schools and the athletes, it exists to make money off them.

I saw above that Partridge has coached LB's in the past. But do we know where his specialty lies (if he has one)? I mean, he was a high school head coach before. But is he primarily a defensive guy? Is LB his primary position, or could he also do DB or DL? Is offense out of the question?
