He might be trying to stay out of the spotlight given the dilute sample story and the outsized amount of attention he tends to draw.
|2 days 3 hours ago||Probably, but that's not||
Probably, but that's not where the team needed him. The staff's game is to win games Michigan is playing in. The byproduct of that is getting guys the exposure and coaching they need to get drafted, not the other way around.

Didn't they start sucking in the 90's? And wasn't that part of the reson Modell moved the team?
Dude, the Browns have earned skepticism by virtue of being the Browns and it's not Hue Jackson is some sort of super-star coach guaranteed to work out(he might, he might not, it's still Cleveland). It's not like I'm coming from some sort of off the beaten path angle here. Not sure why this is so offensive.
|2 days 3 hours ago||It's the Browns, their LONG||
It's the Browns, their history ever since(and if we're being honest even before) their rebirth proves it's safe to assume the coaching sucks until proven otherwise.
You're amongst Lions fans, so you're among a group of people to whom it's safe to admit that your team is crap and will never get better. We all feel your pain, there's no need to project such anger :).

Find the outlier very interesting? Absolutely.
|2 days 5 hours ago||They have a terrible||
They have a terrible reputation for developing players and at this point bad coaching is just an assumed given for Cleveland. I think everyone wanted Jabrill to go to a team where they thought he would be used creatively in a way that his strengths would shine. Given it's Cleveland where talent goes to die, I think people are worried for Jabrill. He's also going to be playing for a team with a fanbase full of Buckeye mouth-breathers and so any little flaw is likely going to be magnified and I personally wonder if thats going to affect the franchise's ability to be patient with him.
Finally, Fuck Ohio.

Makes a ton of sense, Fisch was on Harbaughs staff, they're two high academic schools with 900 lb gorilla rivals to the South and they both utilize some variety of blue and yellow for their colors. More in common than not, so may as well strengthen ties. After all a Southern California kid who is not ticketed to USC is likely a guy Michigan can swing and if the Michigan name gets more kids to the UCLA camp, then both sides win.

True enough, I did post this before seeing the video and instantly felt ridiculous. BUT there are a lot of civilian contractors at overseas bases(In fact one contractor I knew well and looked like he would have fit in with that crowd was a huge Buckeye fan and was very upset with me for even applying to Michigan for grad school) so my overall point stands that it would have been weird had Buckeye fans not showed up no matter the specific folks in the video.

The military is FULL of Buckeyes and there are a couple of bases in Italy. Honestly I would have been surprised if that hadn't happened.

Damn shame and a reason why I don't really feel like today is a day to celebrate. Sure some 'hot take" artists that have recently cheesed us off have gone, but losing a job is always traumatic and it's not like ESPN is going to drop the Hot Takedness of it all.
|4 days 1 hour ago||Oh, absolutely I get it.||
Oh, absolutely I get it. What I object to is the leap in logic you are making in trying to make your argument.
There's a difference between between a legal opinion that is framed to address the question over whether mandatory sentencing should apply to a juvenile, in the context of a country that utilizes different justice systems for juvenile and adult offenders and the argument that the risk profile of a guy who has committed especially violent acts recently is likely to committ them again.
Juvenile recidivism rates for violent crimes tend to hover around 50% http://www.cfc.wa.gov/PublicationSentencing/Recidivism/Juvenile_Recidivi... , if we can't call that easily predictable I wonder what we can call easily predictable. As for the next part of your argument, I agree people can grow up, but if we're talking about people needing to mature then we're talking about a longer time frame than one year and likely talking about a time frame past the college years as the college years are still a time of people being emotional basket cases.
I get the argument you're making, I just don't think it's very good.

Haven't heard a word beyond the general bitching about Harbaugh. I think people are beginning to tune this stuff out.

God, I hope not, Washington would be a great series in an area with a lot of UM alumni and Michigan already sacrificed one high level in-conference matchup when we screwed over Arkansas. If we keep doing this, Warde's going to get a rep he may not want.

At no point was he prosecuted by the government for the form his protests took, so I am unsure what free speech right was being suppressed. His chosen form of protest got plenty of coverage, his views got plenty of coverage and he was able to do it throughout the season. People just didn't like him disrespecting the flag and the anthem. Free speech doesn't mean speech without consequence.

Are you really citing a Supreme Court Opinion over whether mandatory sentencing legally applies to a case involving juveniles in an argument over whether it is wise to take on a player with established violent priors?

Or some people are just assholes and past behavior has always been a pretty good predictor of future results, especially when it comes to egregious crimes of the type Robertson committed.
This isn't toilet papering a house or shoplifting or getting in a fight with a rival at school that he was accused of.

The most recent report that V. Copeland and R. Bowers have been thrown off the team is inaccurate and has no validity.
There, I feel better now.

They play the big league California and National schools during the early part of the season and then switch to the Nevada State schools in OCtober, think of it as non-conference/conference split.
And yes, Nevada football isn't great.
|6 days 6 hours ago||Why not?||
It's a good call, he has a clear opportunity at UCLA over Michigan and QB is the one position in which rotation doesn't really happen. Can't blame him at all and for UCLA this is a huge win to secure a big-time QB early and build the class around him.
Even if over half of it is going to disappear once Mora gets fired.

Agreed, the charge was ordered by Lee over Longstreet's objections. Pickett's name just got attached to it because he survived after the war and was very bitter about how it turned out.

When I was in the Air Force, I loved teaching the first block of pilot training. It was great, I got to fly, I got to fly upside down, pull G's and in close formation, I was challenged in terms of both knowledge and skill, I had expertise and was respected, and I got to get away a lot of weekends on the Air Forces dime. Living in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma wasn't my favorite but I dug the rest of it quite a bit. Part of the reason I am no longer in the Air Force is Special Operations Command was staffing up UAV's and another type of special aircraft and so wouldn't let me go back to teaching pilot training. Then again if I hadn't've gotten out I wouldn't have gone to Michigan for my MBA......
If I had any sort of writing talent, being a travel writer ala a homeless man's Bill Bryson would be amazing. Go to weird out of the way places, drink beer, have weird conversations with the locals, relay what I see into historical/scientific commentary, what fun.

The 2017 cycle reflected a pretty significant lack of interest and they seem to be having trouble getting traction with this years guys as well, I am sure everything will turn out fine, but I don't get a feeling that guys are clamoring to come to Michigan, which given how Michigan uses Tight Ends seems odd.
