[Eric Upchurch]

Things discussed this week:

  • Rolovich tells a joke media doesn't get.
  • Cal-Hawaii: War of the meatball defenses.
  • Taco Charlton has been Michigan's best DL via Sam. Nobody mentions this might have something to do with who's blocking.
  • Speightmas: Playing within the offense is more important.
  • Safety report: Khaleke Hudson is more memorable than your roommate
  • Linebackers will be iffy to start; how much do they come along?

...this may be off the wall.

But Kiper has Webb as the top senior (not sure if player or QB) in the draft. He looked pretty damned good to me. So, I suppose we will see. This may be wrong. I am often wrong. But it isn't crazed. Dude is better than Tebow or RG3 or Manziel, I know that.

I saw that about Kiper, I'm pretty sure it was top senior QB. But that's one thing. Him being the top QB at the end of the season, including any QBs who enter the draft early, is very unlikely. Also Todd McShay said he thought Mithc Leidner was a first rounder, so these guys aren't flawless. Even if Davis was somehow a first rounder, he will not be the first pverall pick.

Speight being ahead of where Rudock was this time last year is all well and good, and expected, but when will he become what Rudock was at the end of the year (or at least his own full potential)? If that's by the Sparty game that would be just wonderful.

on that being a big question.  I'd think that part of Rudock's rapid development was the fact he was just about a 2 yr starter at Iowa.  Harbaugh's instruction obviously played a key role but one of Rudock's big learning curves was learning the offense.  Rudock was further along on some of the learning curves than Speight will be - game experience, playing on the road, etc., etc.
