You mean aside from Beilein being a man of integrity and one of the finest gentlemen to ever coach at Michigan, and Dantonio being a classless jerk who coaches cheating and cheap-shotting?

You can always find a difference - that's why they are called comparisons.  Putting character comparisons aside, you can't deny the on field (court) performance trajectory of both these coaches are eerily similar.

Coaching: Both are phenominal on one side of the ball (JB=offense, MD=defense)

Recruiting: Both are overall average at best.  Found lightening in a bottle a few times, but really relies on developing under-rated talent.  This strategy seems to be catching up to both coaches.

Performance: MSU made it to the CFP with some decent success before.  Michigan made it to the FF with some decent success before and after

How it will end for both: ????  Who knows, but I see them both kinda ending their careers at their respective schools with a big "fart noise".  Respective fan bases will look back and relish the good achievements during those handful of years, thank them for their services, and be excited to move on to the next coach.

I'm a little concerned FSU lines up Walker over Kalis and exploits that weak spot. If they keep him on the outside, I'm not so worried but if they're smart they'll match him up against Kalis.

Even if it is justified that he should get it and Davis had no basis for one and still got it, I don't think Clark gets his 6th because Delaney hates Harbaugh and Michigan.

I'm more worried about them hitting Speight, not necessarily the number of times he's actuall sacked. No Speight = no win, IMO.

If Derwin James is back I don't think we have much of an advantage vs their secondary anymore. We can scheme away from McFadden but James is their Peppers, if he's back and healthy enough he could be a game changer for them.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the OSU debacle. OL play was bad, caused that pick six, and when we needed them the most, in the 4th quarter, they couldn't get anything going up front and the offense stalled allowing OSU to come back.

On the other side of the ball, their OL doesn't seem to protect Francois all that well, which is great for us. But Dalvin Cook is the best RB we'll have faced all year. No disrespect to Saquon Barkley.

Should be a good game, but I'm not sure Michigan wins as comfortably as a lot of people seem to think.

FSU's OL has shuffled many different starters over the course of the season--sometimes due to injuries, sometimes due to poor performance.  FSU's OL was abysmmal in pass pro and penalties (false starts, holding) in the 1st half of the season.  The OL has played better in November than it has all season.  That said, part of that is worse competition; and there's no doubt that Michigan's front 7 is the best front 7 that FSU has faced all season despite playing Clemson (#6 D S&P), Florida (#8 D S&P), Miami (#14 D S&P), Louisville (#15 D S&P), NCState (#16 D S&P).

Here are the results of Jimbo's O while at FSU vs Don Brown defenses:

  • 2010 Maryland: FSU 30-16
  • 2013 BC: FSU 48-34
  • 2014 BC: FSU 20-17
  • 2015 BC: FSU 14-0 (1 TD was a FSU D TD)

and above average in HT & WT.  I'd probably give your WRs the advantage.   But again our back end is the real weakness in the secondary.  (Hoping Derwin plays... he was hurt in the 1st week of September!  Really surprised he's doubtful at this point).

If you just want to look at the WR-CB matchup, here's what things look like:

Darboh is the #6 WR, Chesson the #20 WR

Marquez White is the #13 CB

The other starting CB is McFadden, who is a RS Fr.  But he leads the country in INTs.  BTW, McFadden matched up against the #1 WR in the 2017 mock NFL draft (Mike Williams) and held him to 7 receptions for 70 yards.

Last, I'm really not looking forward to watching Butt gouge us in 3rd and longs, etc., but I'm sure it'll happen.

Beilein and Dantonio once had very similar programs. The key difference, unfortunately, is that Beilein's golden period lasted three years and Dantonio's lasted six.
