MGoPodcast 5.9: Sour Times

ALL HAIL HENRI, THE OTTER OF ENNUI

OFFENSE

Things could have gone better.

DEFENSE

The usual: late collapse in the face of overwhelming existential ennui. HENRI: deployed.

BASKETBALL

Save us, Obi-Wan Beilein, you're our only hope. Michigan tried to go away from the pick and roll against Lowell and that really did not work; when they went back to it they started scoring points. Two posts == DOA.

TALKING BIG TEN WITH JAMIEMAC

I sound jealous of Indiana football. We're so far past being jealous of Minnesota. Damn you, Iowa, for allowing Purdue to score a garbage-time touchdown to thwart BoilerQuest.

MUSIC

"Across 110th Street."
"Sour Times," Portishead
"I Got Issues," The Beauty Shop
"The Lord's Going To Separate The Wheat From The Tares," Huggins & Phillips Sacred Harp Singers (this is off of a six-volume box set called "Goodbye, Babylon" which is pretty great).

to Funchess. There was a play on the second drive of the second half, IIRC, where Nebraska actually went single coverage on the outside on both JG and Funchess, and Funchess did run a fade route. DG looked at him for a split second and decided to throw a back shoulder to Gallon instead that was way off. I can't imagine why he thought that was a better idea, but my guess is that at this point DG is just searching for anything that is remotely comfortable in this hideousness and JG is his security blanket.

I really liked 4th and Long and 3rd and Out, but am I alone in thinking Bacon's next book 2nd and 12: Brady Hoke Running Hard Away from Change is a bad idea?

Don't worry - I made that up.

We were all wishing for those 8-4 years. This year we may go 6-6 but after this year we should be around 4 losses the next several years. Hoke is just a 2.0 LC. This is what DB wanted!

I just feel like there are going to be changes on the offensive side of the ball. If there are not then the program is going to lose the fans. This is just so rediculous this situation. I do have to admit though I can't believe Brady is not saying to Borges throw more screens and have more of a short passing game since our line is having trouble blocking anybody.

I just hope that while Brady obviously can't fix the problem himself he personally recognizes the problem and realizes he needs somebody who runs a pro scheme that is smart as opposes to three and out, complex, and above all else stupid.
