This is going to be the largest audience that has ever watched either of these two teams.
August 27th, 2014 at 5:33 PM ^
but not Georgia State vs. Abilene Christian desperate.

I'm Canadian. I'm subjected to CFL week in and week out. This qualifies as real football.

When was the last time you saw a team go bound for street?

And here I was going to comment that the blog needs more Kermit pictures/gifs. Oh how incredibly wrong I was...
But still:

I've never been more excited to see an FCS team play a glorified FCS team before

real college football starts tomorrow

Abilene Christian is one of the newest teams to Division I (FCS football) athletics.
The only reason I know anything about them is because former Texas receiver Jordan Shipley's sister played basketball there.....and she's a female dime.
August 27th, 2014 at 6:03 PM ^
...as opposed to a male dime?
August 27th, 2014 at 6:55 PM ^
Or it didn't happen.

Chin is way to pointy, and a texas fan.

Pounce the Panther?
Or Willie the Wildcat?

the boxing gloves will turn the tide in the second half. willie's empty hands eventually are a liability. plus the chaps get in the way when they go to the ground.

I will be cheering hard for Georgia State, for no other reason than COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BACK, and I randomly picked a team.
August 27th, 2014 at 6:21 PM ^
Believe it or not, there are some Massey numbers for this game - Georgia State is favored (67% projected win probability) with a 35-28 projected median score (across a few thousand simulations).
I'll be watching it for sure - we're still buried in service restoration here at work and I do have the luxury of cable in the conference room where I am sitting.

Georgia State vs. Abilene Christian sounds like two made up football teams playing in a movie. Given that, I'll pretend that there is a lengthy backstory for these two teams, with a fierce rivalry, and this game means something big to one of the characters trying to overcome some type of adversity. That's the only way this will be even remotely interesting.
Better yet, I'll put on Explosions in the Sky on full blast with the TV on mute the entire time for added effect.

Completely OT and COOL STORY BRO. I was hiking/climbing in New Zealand earlier this year. Hit the wall and the rain was starting to freeze and was about to turn back when this song came through my earphones. Put it on repeat and powered through to the top. Cathartic in a way. Neg away if you feel.

I'd rather have too much to drink and pass out watching whatever obscure Turner Classic Movie is on tonight. In fact, maybe I will.

Except that Boise State went 0-12 last year and TCU is new to D1.

You know you're a college football addict when you're watching this game and enjoying it...
August 27th, 2014 at 7:20 PM ^
What an interception.
August 27th, 2014 at 7:21 PM ^
Georgia State runs the same WR screen 4 times on a drive. Shockingly, Abilene finally picked it off.
August 27th, 2014 at 7:29 PM ^
August 27th, 2014 at 7:22 PM ^
Might have been the worst screen pass ever. The WR ran right into the his blocker and then there was just massage confusion
August 27th, 2014 at 7:29 PM ^
Nice play, after running so many WR screens, the OC would be a fool not to call that

This is much better than the Tigers right now. Thats sad

I love college football. It doesn't matter who the teams are, as I will watch a college game. There is no greater sport on earth than NCAA football.
August 27th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
August 27th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
I'll tell y'all what. This game is tough to watch simply because this is a terrible atmosphere. A great atmosphere and crowd is what separates college football from any other type and what makes college football the best sport in the world.

I know the media likes to wet themselves when an FCS team beats an FBS team, but really, Drake's rap career is older than Georgia State football.
I've been on mgoblog longer than Georgia State has been a program.
North Dakota State, Montana, Montana State should be in FBS. You know, good programs.
