premature congrats. One thing we can be sure of: he'll take fewer asinine penalties than Abdelkader
Revision of Weekday Warriors 2011: 9-13 from September 12th, 2011 at 9:16 PM
This week on Weekday Warriors, Chris Wormley continues his assault on Canada, Ondre Pipkins dominates at nose tackle, Dymonte Thomas celebrates his impending Michigan commitment with a touchdown, and Shane Morris hurdles a guy.
2012 Commits
TN OL Blake Bars
Montgomery Bell fell to 1-3 on the year with a 23-16 loss to Baylor.
This week: The Big Red host the awesomely-named Battle Ground Academy on Friday at 7.
OH LB Joe Bolden
Colerain's incredible 61-game home winning streak was snapped by St. Xavier, 17-14, on a game-winning field goal with under four minutes remaining. No stats were available for Bolden, but you can see him making a nice tackle on the right.
This week: The Cardinals will look to start a new home winning streak on Friday at 7:30 against Mason.
MI OL Ben Braden
Braden returned after sitting out last week with a concussion and helped Rockford run for 290 yards in their 42-30 victory over Grand Haven.
This week: Rockford (2-1) plays at home against West Ottawa on Friday at 7.
OH DE Pharaoh Brown
No defensive stats are available, but Brown recorded an offensive touchdown in Brush's 31-27 loss to Kenston. Brush is now 0-3 on the season.
This week: The Arcs host Valley Forge on Friday at 7.
MI TE Devin Funchess
Funchess hauled in a 69-yard touchdown pass and finished with two catches for 77 yards in Harrison's 37-0 shutout of Stoney. Harrison has been dominant in jumping out to a 3-0 record this season.
This week: The Hawks welcome Oxford to Farmington Hills on Friday at 7.
OH S Allen Gant
Despite a strong defensive effort from Gant, who recorded 12 tackles and forced a fumble, Southview fell to 2-1 with a 28-22 loss to Toledo Start.
This week: Southview hosts Napoleon on Friday at 7.
MI DT Matt Godin
Godin was the subject of this week's Creeper Van Original, recording (by my unofficial count) two tackles, three QB hurries, and a sack in Detroit Catholic Central's 48-0 evisceration of Inkster.
This week: The Shamrocks host Highland Park on Friday at 7.
UT FB Sione Houma
This week: The Rams look to move to 4-0 on the season when they host Lone Peak on Friday at 7.
MI LB Royce Jenkins-Stone
Cass Tech took out their frustrations from last week's FHH loss on Detroit Central, coming away with a 62-6 victory as RJS contributed three touchdowns, including a blocked punt return. More on this game later in the post.
This week: The Technicians play at 4 on Friday afternoon at Detroit Southeastern.
OH OL Kyle Kalis
Kalis sat out St. Edward's 47-6 victory over Penn Hills, missing his second straight game to start the year due to a (not serious) knee injury suffered in a preseason scrimmage.
This week: The Eagles host Cardinal Mooney on Saturday at 7:30.
CA OL Erik Magnuson
Magnuson's La Costa Canyon squad won their season debut 48-0 over Huntington Beach Marina in a battle of schools whose names make me want to move to California. The Mavericks had two different running backs break 80 yards rushing as they dominated up front, I'm sure in large part due to Magnuson's rather large presence.
This week: LCC plays Poway at home on Friday at 7.
MI DE Mario Ojemudia
Did you know Farmington Hills Harrison is ranked as the number six team in the country by SI.com? Well, they are, and in this week's rundown Ojemudia came in for some high praise from Ben Glicksman:
Despite a loaded receiving corps (see: Aaron Burbridge, Devin Funchess, Gairus Coleman) defensive end Mario Ojemudia might be the Hawks' best player. The Michigan commit collected another two sacks against the Bluejays, building off a terrific 127-tackle, 12-sack junior year campaign.
You can see one of those two sacks in the following video from Fox 2:
Farmington Hills Harrison vs Southfield: MyFoxDETROIT.com
Fox's local sports guy might want to work on that pronunciation.
This week: The Hawks play their home opener against Stoney Creek on Friday at 7.
MO DT Ondre Pipkins
Pipkins led off The Wolverine's commitment updates ($) due to recording five tackles, three pass deflections, and three forced fumbles in Park Hill's 23-0 shutout of Ruskin. Park Hill is now 2-0 on the season.
This week: The Trojans travel (not far, I imagine) to Park Hill South on Friday at 7.
MI CB Terry Richardson
Richardson added to Cass Tech's onslaught with a touchdown reception, which you can see in these local highlights (he's #9 in white).
This week: The Technicians play at 4 on Friday afternoon at Detroit Southeastern.
OH LB Kaleb Ringer
Northmont dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 32-21 loss to Princeton as Ringer sat out his second straight game with a broken wrist. Based on his Twitter feed, it sounds like Ringer is hopeful for a return this week against Archbishop Moeller.
This week: Northmont travels to Archbishop Moeller for a Saturday night game at 7.
MI LB James Ross
Orchard Lake St. Mary's fell to Toledo St. John's Jesuit, 34-14, in their home opener. No stats are available for Ross at this time.
This week: St. Mary's hosts Highland Park on Friday at 7.
OH OL Caleb Stacey
Oak Hills improved to 1-1 with a 21-17 road win at Harrison.
This week: The Highlanders open their home slate on Friday at 7:30 against Loveland.
IL CB Anthony Standifer
According to his Twitter account (highlight the text to see the white type), Standifer recorded his first interception of the season–and 10th of his career–in Crete-Monee's 35-0 victory over Lincoln-Way West. The Warriors improved to 2-0 as 2013 WR Laquon Treadwell had a huge game, pulling in five catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yarder.
This week: Crete-Monee travels to Moline on Friday at 7:30.
OH DE Tom Strobel
According to TTB, Strobel had one solo tackle and five assists in Mentor's 38-27 victory over defending Division V state champ Youngstown Ursuline.
This week: The Cardinals host St. Ignatius on Friday at 7:30.
OH TE A.J. Williams
Williams didn't record a catch as Sycamore pulled out a 28-21 win over Springboro to improve to 2-0 on the season.
This week: The Aviators look to stay undefeated at Springfield on Friday night at 7:30.
OH S Jarrod Wilson
No stats to report for Wilson as Akron Buchtel fell to Steubenville, 22-6, dropping to 0-2 in 2011.
This week: The Griffins look to record their first win on the road against Solon on Friday at 7.
OH DE Chris Wormley:
Wormley had three tackles (I've seen it reported as high as eight, which means someone was doing some very generous stat-taking), two QB hurries, two TFLs, and a sack to help Toledo Whitmer beat A.B. Lucas Secondary School, 41-0, in this week's Creeper Van Original:
This week: The Panthers host another Canadian squad as they look to improve to 3-0 against Brantford (Ontario) Collegiate on Friday at 7.
2013 Commits
KY S Jeremy Clark
Clark had another great game as North Hopkins defeated Hardin, 34-21, as the Michigan commit recorded six tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown.
This week: The Maroons (2-1) travel to Hopkinsville on Friday at 7.
MI QB Shane Morris
Although, for some reason, HighSchoolSports.net thinks Warren De La Salle's quarterback is named Zach Bihary, it was Shane Morris who completed 10-of-16 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in their 34-6 win over Flint Carmen-Ainsworth.
This week: De La Salle plays at Fordson on Friday at 7.
I know I've said this before, but there are some people around Whitmer's program who think he'll end up as an offensive tackle instead of a defensive player.
Yeah, i thought about mentioning that. But if we pick up another OT like Banner, then does moving Wormley to OT make any sense? Then he would be battling Braden, Banner and Magnuson for those spots, when we need big, athletic guys on our DL in a bad way.
However, if the coaches think he'll make a very good OT, then by all means move him. It would mean that Bars and Kalis would for be OGs for sure and having a dominant OL is the best thing that can happen to a football team. We'd still have Godin, Strobel, Pipkins and (hopefully) O'Brien to hold things down on the interior DL.
I'm not sure who you have been talking to around the Whitmer program but palka thinks he's the best defensive end in the country ( palka (sp) is the coach) he could be right but the fact that nobody has ran a play to his side of the field isn't helping for when people scout him. The 3 games this year have been a joke. Start either ran away or qb 1 step drop then threw it out on a WR screen. The 2 Canadian teams were terrible and he had about a quarter of action in both. I know his size sounds like o tackle but he hasn't played a down on the offensive line in years if not ever. We should see what he's got now that he's going into trac conference play. Fingers crossed but I hope he finally gets to show everyone what made him so hyped to begin with. Sorry about no paragraphs. Phones aren't great for that sort of thing
Touchdown Manningham! MICHIGAN WINS!
Lots of coaches feel that way about their players.
It's not like a coach in Toledo is going to be extremely in tune with some DE from Utah or Florida or Texas.
At Tennessee John Henderson was 6'7" and Albert Haynesworth was 6'6". That height also allowed them both to play at 325+ lbs. I'd take that here.

6'7" 287# and... ya know, pretty good defensive end
(Sorry Lions fans. You look good this year!)
"Over? Did you say, over? Nothing is over until we decide it is!"
Ace could we get a running total (chart?Chart!) For each players stats on the season? I think it could be helpful to visualize how some of our future players do over the course of the year.
Keep up the good work!
Control of space means control of the world, far more certainly, far more totally than any control that has been achieved by weapons or troops of occupation. Space is the ultimate position, the position of total control over Earth.
We decided against the running charts during the season because high school stats are so unreliable, not just in different places reporting different stats but in tracking them down from week to week, so too much would be left incomplete to have the charts (charts) provide much real info. I will be doing a more comprehensive look at each player's full season stats at the end of the high school season, and you can probably expect some charts (charts) in that post.
I always smile on the inside when Fordson loses.
My favorite line in Duane Long's write-up of Dymonte Thomas is where he discusses Dymonte's verbal commitment as: "Key word being verbal, but I'll leave that at that." Looks like he's still living under the fantasy that all those guys from Ohio that have kicked OSU to the curb are going to come home (/s) in the event that the NCAA decides to give the Bucks a free pass.
Duane Long: Woo, Dymonte Thomas! Best Safety prospect in the state! Yeah!!
Some Dude: *Psst - Thomas committed to that school up north... *
Duane Long: Upon further review, Jalyn Powell is clearly slightly ahead of Thomas. *psst, some dude - Powell is still an osu lean, right?*

In fairness to the Duane Long comments, those quotes are actually from Jerry Beeson, aka The Other Guy on the Duane Long Report.
In fairness to Dymonte Thomas, both seem to let their commentary get influenced by their Buckeye partisanship. The "oh, it's just a verbal" comment is hilariously ridiculous, especially since it's not like ALL commitments are verbals until signing day (which, in Thomas's case, is still well over a year away) or anything.
I was at the Rockford vs. Grand Haven game with a close eye on Braden. The guy is obviously huge but early on I was unimpressed by his feet. As the game dragged on, I became more and more impressed. He was consistantly pushing his defender 10 yards or more off the line of scrimmage. I was impressed with his feet once Rockford starting breaking long runs and Braden would be right with the RB blocking for him 20 yards downfield. Eventually GH defenders started just falling to the ground and making a pile, because nobody out there could hold their own against Braden. And keep in mind, Grand Haven has a pretty good team. Their DEs are a little small but not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I'm excited that we are going to see Braden in maize and blue in the future!

Wormley a legit 6'7"? That's pretty tall for a DE and very tall for a DT. But that means he can probably pack on a ton of weight and if he can be an athletic 6'7" 320 on the D-line? I don't know if I've seen that before but it could be frightening. Or he could have a really hard time getting leverage, I don't know.
