Know thy enemy: History in the making for The Game, and it's not good
So this is likely known by many but, for those who do not, there is a little piece of history and added bragging rights on the line this saturday.
No quarterback in the 113-year history of the rivalry has won four games as a starter in the series, and Barrett will have the opportunity to complete a perfect 4-0 career in The Game on Saturday in Ann Arbor.
Closest we've come: Rich Leach 3-1, Forest Evashevski, 3-0

Also, I am a little surprised Minnesota is not listed given the rivalry.

yea, nothing too special.

lol it would be better if we had a real shot to make it 3-1

I was at that game. Even when it was tied going into the half, and Gardner seemed to be playing pretty well, I had zero doubt in my mind that Michigan was going to lose that game.

Eh. Tate actually played in the Illinois game though. Barrett went out the first play of the 4th quarter with OSU up 28-21, then Cardale came in and threw 3 passes for 7 yards and rushed twice for 18 yards

If the starting pitcher leaves the game with the other team in the lead, he doesn't get the win when his team wins the game.

Maybe I'm not remembering this correctly, but weren't they leading 28-21 when Barrett went out? The games sort of blend together as we older so I'm not entirely sure.

Brag about your ability to not believe in your team some more dude. Cardale Jones came into the game, Ohio St. changed their offense, and those changes blew us off the field.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:24 AM ^
Drake Johnson went down. He was running all over them before he got hurt IIRC.

They didn't really blow us off the field with Cardale. They were only up 28-21 when Barrett went down, and Cardale led them on 1 scoring drive that was mostly Elliott carrying the offense.
Then Bosa had a strip sack on Gardner that was returned for a TD, and by then there was like 2 minutes left in the game

Call it PTSD from the last 15 years. It just seems like OSU has a huge psychological advantage in this rivalry. They've won so much over that timespan that it's not hard to imagine why Michigan might lose the next one too.
I know every game is different, but with how poorly the year had gone up to that point, and how OSU was just firing on all cylinders by the time they came into that game, I just knew in the pit of my stomach that no matter what, Michigan was going to lose.

Eh. OSU was only up 28-21 at that point. Drake Johnson was running wild all over them, but he went down to injury. We had a good showing. The strip/sack returned for a TD made the score look more impressive for OSU.

put us up by 21. the garbage 2 minute drill TD by Gardner while we ran prevent is what made the score respectable.

Repeat of 2013 this saturday??? Except maybe we don't line up in the exact same formation coming out of a timeout when we go for two to win the game

Whatever happens, I just hope the stadium is full of Maize and Blue.
Sick of fair weather fans not supporting the team for Senior Day.
Say whatever you want about RR, Hoke, and JH. But don't take that out on the team. Don't take it out on the university.
Show up or at least make sure your tix don't go to the dregs of humanity from Columbus.

Crazy shit can happen in rivalry games. We had no business being on the same field as OSU in 2013 and 2014 but made games out of both of them and legitimately could've won in 2013. OSU is far from invincible.
I'm not expecting to win, or even really giving us a 50/50 shot. On paper, this should be a slaughter. But it wouldn't surprise me if this game is closer than it ought to be. The offense has shown it can play well enough to keep the chains moving with Peters at the helm, and OSU has shown that it can fall apart in any given game. Maybe they've got one more bad game in them.
Time for the OL to nut the fuck up. If there is one game where they finally put it all together, this is it.

How should this be a slaughter on paper? Yes, they probably have the better team, but Michigan is not a push over. I honestly think the same psychological effect poisoning Ohio in the '90s has been afflicting Michigan for the 2000s, but honestly what their program got away with has never been given the weight it should, including Urban being able to recruit when anyone else wouldn't have been allowed to. I sure hope Harbaugh has them raring to go Saturday because there is nothing to lose.

OSU was up 28-21 in the 4th when JTB went out. Jones converted a 3rd down and then OSU ran 3 times setting up a 4th and 1. Elliot broke it and the game was over. Lee then returned a Gardner sack/fumble for a TD before Michigan scored at the end.
tl/dr -- OSU was in a good spot in 2014 when JTB went down.

November 22nd, 2017 at 10:08 AM ^
Fuck OSU. Just play to the best of your ability and things might work out.
Seriously, if normal Barrett shows up the chance is real. 'Normal' Barrett can't throw to tight windows without hours of time, which he won't get. Plug the running gaps, keep contain, and blanket the recievers. Do those, and the pass rush will make him uncomfortable.
I got nothing for the offense... I'm assuming JOK plays, so I doubt the pass game will work. But maybe they're working on some specific routes to scheme guys open so he can hit them quick, without having to think? Get some Purdue type scheme advantages, coupled with a good defensive game, and we've got a shot.

It could still apply to Enzone. Or, rather, the title of Enzone. Michigan football has not returned.
