Man, this one stings.    While it doesn't erase all of the good feelings from the three recent commitments...  Actually, it sort of does. :(       Oh well, let's move on.

It does seem that we have a good shot at Deion Barnes who's visiting on the 7th. It'd be nice to do it the easy way once in a while, though.

p.s. Barnes is from Pennsylvania. Might as well trade with PSU.

So you guys really think that Brandon has examined 3 years of wins and losses, off the field issues, academic performance, maturity/development of talent, recruiting, and countless other issues (both positive and negative) and has concluded that he will base his decision on what happens against Mississippi State??

I have to admit with this loss I've jumped ship. Brandon's timetable is hurting recruiting. Its not KILLING recruiting per say (i.e. D.Hart and Countess), but it certainly is hurting it. Its not  everyday a lifelong Michigan fan, 4* DT, in state, player on team that desperately needs DT's goes anywhere else...

edit..UM FAN, I meant to post this as a reply to the above post not yours, sorry

Agreed.  I have thought that everything Brandon has said and done so far is right on but this decision to wait until after the bowl game is just BAD.  It is hurting us no matter how you look at it.  I have thought a lot about why he is doing this and I keep coming back to the same conclusion that Brandon and Harbaugh already have an agreement and they are just waiting until after the Stanford/Michigan bowl games to announce it.  If it doesn't end up being the case than Brandon made his first really stupid decision.

Jim Harbaugh.

He made it clear to anyone close to the Stanford situation he will not entertain any discussions for coaching jobs because he is preparing a team (which he built from nothing) for a once in a generation major bowl appearence.

He is Brandon's first choice. Brandon is taking the mess of early December 2007 into account, and politely honoring Harbaugh's wishes. Killing two birds with one stone: restoring Michigan's stature from a poorly handled search in 2007, and staying in good with Harbaugh.

No idea if this is fact, but it makes way more sense then the idea that Brandon is waiting on any second tier bowl result.

What about the dump JH took on Michigan football and the university.  If that's the kind of man that DB wants running the program maybe he should hire himself.  Dominos pizza tasted liked sh*t while he was CEO.  I hope he doesn't do the same for our athletics as he did for the pizza.

Given today's Bball performance against a Big 10 team, I still don't get how DB gave JB a vote of confidence.  JBs been here longer, doesn't recruit the state well despite a very deep and talented pool (unlike the generally weak FB pool), and we haven't done well in conference since JBs been here.  That's right JB has a young team- didn't Kentucky have a young team last year?

Possibly the worst comparison in the history of comparisons.  Why didn't you just reference the Fab Five and wonder why JB couldn't pull in a class like that again. I seriously laughed out loud at the thought of you comparing Kentucky basketball last year, which had 5 players drafted in the first round (4 of which were freshmen), and Michigan basketball. Possibly, no, not possibly, positively the dumbest thing I have ever read on these boards.

And I didn't even mention how dumb your overall point was of JB doing horribly because we got beat by the 11th best team in the nation with a bunch of true freshmen and sophomores.

John Beilein got a vote of confidence because the basketball facilities at Michigan are very bad. It wouldn't be fair to fire JB when Dave Brandon knows that Michigan hasn't provided the basketball team with the resources to compete with other top schools. Brandon has stated so publicly. It's a completely different situation than the football program.

Everyone assumes that not giving RR a vote of confidence means Jim Harbaugh is definitely going to be the coach. This is not true, there is an evaluation process that Dave Brandon will stick to for every sport that has been given the proper resources to compete with other schools. Football has not concluded it's season and thus there will still need to be an evaluation period that will involve reflection of all games and feedback from the entire coaching staff, especially RR, to decide where the future of Michigan football is headed.

I was hoping he committed to um. That would have gave some hope that he heard RR was returning. At least DB is right by saying that his eval time doesn't affect recruiting...What a stubborn man.....
