Zeke Pike making the wrong kind of headlines

Submitted by MGoCooper on
Well, it's starting to look like Zeke Pike picking Auburn was a blessing in a navy blue and orange disguise. With his stock steadily dropping in updated rankings, and now this, we dodged a Kentucky bullet. Yikes! mobile.al.com/advbirm/pm_29180/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=qIwi11ts

Awesome levels of fail in this post.

Confusing title.

Link that I have to copy / paste myself.

Leading summary of said link.

This kind of elitist reaction by Beavis is what makes me keep migrating away from mgoblog more and more. I agree with you Wolverine - it was interesting to see and I don't think it is a big deal to have to copy and paste the link and Beavis can suck it if he doesn't want to take the extra five seconds to copy and paste.

I don't care if his response will be, "I'm just having fun," it isn't funny

"On July 16, Pike wrote, 'I can tell you're an Alabama fan cause you have no educational skills. It's FAMILY not fambly . . . Something only AU knows about.'"

Oh, that is cringe-worthy.

...control with those tweets. #notsmart

This is an interesting one:

On July 16, in a reply to Baron Flenory Jr., his 7-on-7 coach, Pike wrote, "I'd like to be referred to as a mixture of Tim Tebow and Big Ben"

Sounds sacriligeous on some level.

Every major program in college football has recruited guys that play/played on the south florida express 7 on 7. Demar Dorsey played for them also.

7 on 7, mentors, handlers, etc are sad reality to big time college football. Some of these guys may have the kids best interest at heart and others are just leeching off of them.

Give him a break, he's just a kid and excited about his school and new rivalry. Wasn't everyone on this board laughing and praising everything Strobel and Kalis said on Dunn's facebook feed last week? I know, I know, our recruits did it with more class, but basically the same thing.

I mean, I get what he's trying to do, I guess, but he doesn't even really know anything about that rivalry. He's never played in the iron bowl or even been a student at auburn yet, and it's not like he would have a childhood allegiance to one team, given that he's from Kentucky. Way to jump on the bandwagon and start a bunch of crap for attention.

True, but when I was accepted to Michigan fall of my senior year in hs (originally from maryland), I still talked shit to every ohio state fan I could find. But I get what you're saying, especially for a guy like Zeke whos every word is being followed by fanatics

Most schools probably go over Twitter and Facebook do's and don'ts with new players once they're in-house. Pike will probably get a massive butt-chewing from someone on this and learn a lesson.

If I knew it would post like that from my phone, I wouldn't have posted it from my phone. I'm sorry that a perspective reader couldn't navigate to the link easily. Again, I apologize.

I don't think your post was that bad. Oh, no, I had to cut and paste the URL. What has the internet come to? Once I did that, the information was interesting. And I agree, I'm glad we don't have to deal with that from any of our recruits, though I wouldn't be surprised if it happened every so often. It's the prolificity that is most impressive in Pike.

Sometimes I don't get the hostility on this board...

This kind of rhetoric happens every singe day amongst fans and players. It is no different than the rhetoric surronding UM-OSU.

This is stupid.

Vegas has Auburn's O/U this year set at 6 wins. Wonder what Zeke thinks about that? Probably something only a mixture of Tim Tebow and Big Ben could fix the following year.

(BTW - mix of Tebow and Big Ben - does that mean he is bipolar? Does he constantly struggle with forcing himself upon women vs. restraining from pre-marital sex?)

It's like when you read the comments section under an article about Michigan on BSpn.

I know there are going to be trolls in there that will say things that piss me off, I tell myself to not even look, but I have to. Of course I see something so ridiculous that it pisses me off to the point where I respond.

Now think about people in Alabama, fans that are so ridiculous one of them actually fucking poisoned landmark trees on Auburn's campus. I can imagine people talking shit to him to the point that it boils over. What he should have done is just delete his twitter account, but I can understand it pissing him off.

Pointless thread. Even though 1 million out of 1 million times I will take a Shane Morris Commitment over a Zeke Pike. Loving Shane Morris. I think he is is ranked ahead of Zeke and he is still a junior.
