EDIT - oh, just a rumor... nm
EDIT - oh, just a rumor... nm
Hope you start to turn things around.
... at least he had a good reason.
For all that writing you did in your thread title, you could have just titled the thread "RUMOR: It appears Yuri Wright has been kicked out of Bosco."
It was confirmed in the thread. Thanks for complaining though. I knew someone would.
I did click the link and don't see where it was confirmed. Unless you're referring to the other random message board poster who wrote, "It has been confirmed. The kid is a punk." I wouldn't call that confirmation, unless you believe everything you read on internet message boards.
Dude, you're not supposed to complain if you clicked on the thread though. Rules is rules.
Complaining about spreading false rumors about his character?
To be fair, this is also a rumor. It's a random message board post that asks about more information on a "rumor" that he was kicked out.
I don't think this is an update if its based on a rumor.
If true, the superintendent at Bosco has obviously never worked for Ohio's compliance department! I hope the kid gets his act together and makes something of his abilities.
Now he has free time this weekend to set a official to UM. - Yeap , trolling. It's the wright thing to do. No - I don't give a shittu about it.
What a bunch of Cry babies on this board. I read more bullshit complaining than any useful news on here.
So you are complaining about the complaining? Seems counterproductive.
The good advice that Yuri just didn't take?
Its like 10,000 Urbans, when all you need is a Hoke.
good thing you keep coming back.
Almost as fast as that of Tiger Woods a couple of years ago. He needs to find a mentor.....fast.
No doubt, guess we dodged one there...
Even if that is all he cares about, he really didn't think this one through. I have to think the ladies he could get as a college athlete are much better than the ones he'll get as an unemployed, uneducated 20 year old... So young and foolish..
In all seriousness though, if he got kicked out of school, he won't be able to play anywhere will he? Somebody in the OP's thread said he might be able to go to Rutgers still? Don't you have to graduate HS to go to college?
It ain't that easy bein' a porn star. Trust me.
They even have to wear condoms now.
He has plenty of time to get pussy now.
Just remember, for a while everyone thought Kaleb Ringer was kicked off his team.
theres another RUMOR for y'all..some of those tweets are pretty outrageous...lol
Craig James allegedly killing five hookers! Now that I believe!
not allegedly. CRAIG JAMES KILLED FIVE HOOKERS.
Has never been definitively proven, as far as I know.
Jewish women everywhere, rejoice! You can put away your rain slickers...
Kids an idiot. I dont feel bad for saying that either.
but now that hes out of school he might be driving more, Jewish women keep your slickers handy!
This is as bad as someone posting off-topic stuff that is off-topic!
Killed 5 hookers at Don Bosco.. Take it FWIW
I'm not sure if this was posted in the other thread or not. I just noticed it personally. It's interesting to note that his Twitter account was private. I really question the ethics of publishing a story on it.
that changes my view a little bit. Tt still shows a lack of judgment as there really isnt total privacy on the internet these days.
I agree, however, that it should have never been quoted in public if the tweets were intended to be private.
His twitter has been erased as of this morning or late last night. I didn't follow the kid. I don't follow recruits. A few of the current players but that's it.
Apparently not private enough.
That said, publishing a story about it was probably questionable (then again, so is a huge business built around where 17/18 year olds decide to go to college). I'm sure people recruiting him saw those tweets way before they were public though, that'd be pretty basic due diligence.
While I agree to some degree, you also can regulate who can follow your account if you set it to private. Every follower has to be approved. If you're letting journalists or strangers follow you, you're opening yourself up to that can of worms, especially if you're going to tweet the controversial and racy tweets that Yuri did. I'm not saying that those tweets should not have been made public. I think that's going to be an interesting debate in the future. What I'm saying is that Yuri had the ability to regulate who could view his account, but didn't. He had the ability to regulate what he tweeted, but he didn't. He is clearly not innocent in this regard.
There's really no such thing as a private Twitter. That's the point of Twitter, to not be private. Restricted, maybe, but that doesn't keep it from getting out. This is like posting pictures of you smoking weed on your Facebook and then being surprised when your employer finds it.
Here's an idea: if you want something to be private, don't post it on the Internet.
I'm not condoning what he did or anything, but to me it's easy to see how he could overlook this if his twitter was private.
emerging law basically says that it doesn't matter how private. social media = social.
That's my ATM PIN!
Growing up as a boy in Costa Rica, I heard a rumor that momma had taken a lover.....perhaps Bosco was this man's name
for the Drew Sharp and Mick McCabe columns discussing Yuri Wright. I expect that the Freep investigative SWAT team is winging its way to Newark at this moment.
No matter how good the pussy is I still always gotta get doom.
I know, no complaints, yadda yadda yadda...
Let's just leave it at this. He won't be blue. Period. Yes, I had a period at the end of the sentence but I added the extra one just because...
Let's just leave it at that. And throw Diggs in there as well. Not that I wouldn't like him in a Michigan uniform, but it just isn't in the cards...
Expelling a student for tweets says a lot more about the school than the student. Nowhere did he demonstrate that he was threatening anyone. He just spoke like an idiot. There must be more to the story. While his tweets were in poor taste and definitely did not represent him well, they are hardly reasons to expel a kid from school.
I agree. I'm pretty sure he's had prior incidents so this was probably the last straw but still, expulsion because of twitter? I remember the 'rumors' of him having attitude problems earlier in his recruitment but figured it was just like any other attitude rumor and didn't even think about it. Guess this one was different...
I know Bosco they wouldn't kick him out just because of that. He must have done more to encourage Bosco do that. Plus it would look bad for the program to have a star player have a bunch of offers yanked.
Also, as far as graduating, how hard would it be for him to enroll in his home district for a few months?
not an option for Yuri anymore either...Then again, maybe Kelly would look past the unsavory tweets. Albeit, I am not sure if the higher powers at ND would. He does have a pretty extensive offer list so I imagine he can look elsewhere, in addition to Rutgers.
This kid tweeted a slang term for oral sex. The slang term is dome and he wrote doom. He probably was getting passed along thru school because of his athletic ability because it's obvious he's not too bright
Can't really base his intelligence on how well he spells in his twitter posts. After all its twitter. I will say this though...he seems like an EPIC douche nozzle for someone his age.
Urban and ohio I'd say!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
If you work at a Chick-fil-a restaurant you can get fired for not wearing black socks with your uniform. As a matter of fact you can get fired from most any fast food restaurant for not wearing the required uniform.
I'm pretty sure they have a written code of conduct there....as does um for their athletes.
Now whether the way they handled it (after the season) was hypocritical or not may be a more valid point to argue, especially after all the facts are out.
Edit: I was actually responding to an earlier post which stated his tweets were something that should not warrant getting the boot from school.
Don Bosco is a private CATHOLIC high school. Any Catholic high school worth a lick is going to kick out a kid who posts stuff like that in public.
I went to a Catholic high school that competed with Don Bosco, the kid is lucky he didn't get some corporal punishments from friars...
If his tweets are any indication of his intellect, I doubt he'd score high enough on the SAT or ACT to make it into school.
Usually, I wouldn't say anything about a kid, but somebody needs to be a role model for him and tell him how bad that makes him look, not only now, but a few years down the road when he's looking for a job.
I'm sure he thinks he will be playing on Sundays, but what if he doesn't? What HR department would take a chance on him?
Something tells me that this isn't the last we hear about this kid because he can play from the look of things and can hopefully finish school somewhere, but for now, the object lesson seems to be that you shouldn't tweet anything that you would not want casual acquaintances, total strangers, etc...to retweet, even if your account is private and only select people were supposed to see what you posted, and especially if you're being looked at seriously by high-profile programs.
His comments go back all the way to July... If these tweets were grounds for expulsion, he should have been monitored... He should have been punished for his comments while representing the team, and been suspended... We all know he was only attending that school for football and earning an education in return... Now Don Bosco wants to punish him after he helped to a great season and represented them in a televised all american game? I really hope the kid graduates on time... Fuck Don Bosco prep...
I have to say I agree, soemwhat anyway. I previously posted how much of a moron this kid is, but it is some BS how they are now expelling him, January of his SR year. Some of these tweets go back to October I thought I saw. Monitor him then. I understand the school probably has a charter and he broke that, but let the kid graduate fergodsakes; what good is expelling him going to do at this point. Punish him in other ways that don't affect his future. Tweeting all that mess, however, is Eff'ing stupid and this kid does need to grow up.
I can guarantee you they were looking the other way until all of his tweets started to come out in the news. Once it was all made public they had to do something to save face and demonstrate that they don't show favoritism. I'm finding it really hard to have sympathy for the kid, we were all 18 once but those were some of the trashiest tweets/posts/texts I have ever seen in my life. They're doing him a favor in the long run, hopefully he can get himself together and grow up.
It looked bad for the school and the program.
If this article is correct, Don Bosco can go fuck themselves. I don't want Wright at Michigan, but the Tweets started back over the summer. Coaches and teammates had to be aware of them (even on private, he had to have some of those people on his allow list). Yet they use the kid and play him to win. Then once the season is over, they kick is ass of the team.
If you have a senior who is tweeting like this it is an indictment of your failure as an education institution as much as it is as a sign of his character issues. To wait to eject the kid for ongoing offenses once your season has wrapped up only makes it worse. People knew this kind of stuff was going on awhile back, hence Hoke cooling on him. Wright's coaches and teachers had to know he had character issues since they worked with him for 3.5 years. Yet they wait until he can't play another down for them and then suddenly they care about the character issues. It's like the high school version of Saban is running Bosco.
Also if it is true Yuri had his tweets on private and Chatsports infilitrated (likely making a profile and filling it with photos of some scantily clad girl), Ace (Not Our Ace: NOA) is only that much more dead to me.
Man am I glad social media wasn't around when I was in High School.
The reporter for the Bergen County, New Jersey newspaper that covers high school sports posted his thoughts last night about Yuri Wright's expulsion from Don Bosco Prep. For those too young to remember "CLOSE COVER BEFORE STRIKING" (not the EP from the band Luna), the lesson to be learned from this story for all of us who use social media might be: THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING.
