Brickyard when it was like 100 degrees. I don't give a shit about racing, beer was like $8 a can, old hillbilly titties were being flashed everywhere, and there was nowhere to take a shower afterwards (most ppl camp at fairgrounds nearby).
I was surprised how much of a dump it was as well.

Isn't NASCAR byob?
You could bring one small cooler in. Enough to hold like 6 beers and a handful of ice.
every possible NASCAR event. Never. Again.
I went to the first NASCAR race in Kentucky (this was when I still lived in Michigan) with my older brother and his buddies.
We were in an RV which was great, but it was literally 100 degrees outside every day and the humidity was something awful. I could barely go outside the RV for more than 5 minutes at a time and I had to shower like 5 times a day.
To top it all off I ended up in jail. It was my fault, but it sucked. Good times.
I will never again go to a NASCAR event.
Idiot Olympics. Hands down.
Penn State bazillion OT game that we lost a couple of years ago. Stadium is a piece of shit too.
Same night Tigers lost to the Red Sox as well in the ALCS. Awful night.
But the Tigers won that game. It was Game 1 when Sanchez and the bullpen nearly threw a no hitter. It was the next night, game 2, that most want to forget.
Thank you for being that guy on the correction. The tigers game was a needed bright spot, as that was the day of my bachelor party, and everyone being depressed cause of the 4ot loss would've suuuucked

I usually remember things like that well, but I must have just had a shitty day as a whole then even though the Tigers won.
Thanks for bringing it up, I just got over it! They would have been up 2-0, headed to Detroit with JV on the mound for game 3. Smh I'm convinced they would have rode that momentum train into the world series had they not blown it.
Ryan Field at Northwestern. Some high school stadium are more well put together
Ryan Field is rinky dink as all hell, but I've attended games there twice and I liked it. Intimate. And that's even when one of those games was 2013 M-NU, easily one of the worst games in the history of the sport (thrilling ending notwithstanding).

I agree. I like going to games at Ryan Field as well. Great little stadium. I always like hanging around Evanston too.
Second the love for Ryan Field. I like how it is integrated into Evanston, and nestled in the trees by the Lake. Didn't see too many Wildcat faithful when I went on a cold and drizzly night in November (2003), but there were pockets of old-timers here and there who were friendly, especially for a road crowd.
It's like going to Whole Foods. I don't mean that in a bad way. It's just that the socioeconomic slice is a pleasant one. Not as many hooligans as you'd see elsewhere (including our own stadium, I must say).
mean that in a bad way?
No shit. Elite much?
So there knowledge of football is zero
there should be their....
Rich people are better.
It was the worst.
I'll get right on it.
...not to be confused with the 2013 or 2012 worst venue threads. Probably right around mid July.
Mellon arena.
Oh man I loved the igloo. Went there three times and loved it.
Worst hockey arena I've ever been to. It made the Joe look nice.
I don't know if if it qualifies as a sport, but I attended a wrestling event (WWF or something) in Philadelphia back in the mid 1980's.
Didn't want to go, but the business was given a suite and some of my coworkers twisted my arm (and these guys loved their wrestling). It was so, so bad (particularly the wrestlers' interaction with the fans) and so stupid that it was hysterically funny and I couldn't stop laughing.
-1 for mocking 80's wrestling.
And -1 for never even mentioning the venue the event took place in, the entire point of this thread!
Boy its a tough crowd.
But yeah, it was at the Spectrum and for a "suite" it was solid gray concrete with meh amenities.
Next to the Spectrum (built in 1967, demolished in 2010) was JFK stadium (built in 1926, demolished in 1992), where the Army-Navy game used to be (saw one of those as a kid, got splinters in my ass from the old wooden benches, but they did have piss troughs in the Men's rooms like Michigan Stadium did, so JFK did have that going for it), and Veterans Stadium (built in 1971, was never liked much by anyone, and was demolished in 2004).
In the late 1980's these 3 stadiums consisted the South Philadelphia Sports Complex and had to be the worse collection of stadiums in 1 area in the country at any one time.
I'm shocked they actually play baseball there, usually places like that are reserved for cheesy circuses and gun shows.
^ this. I can't imagine a worse place to see an MLB game
then you never went to a game in the Kingdome.
Glad to know someone else with the same impression. The Kingdome had some company, namely the Astrodome and Staad Olympique, but it really was a special kind of awful.
gets a bad rap. Would you rather they play 70 games outside in 95 degrees? I know it's baseball, so the players get a ton of breaks... but if I, as a fan, wanted to be sitting outside in the St. Pete sun for 3 hours, I'd be at the beach. If you're referring to the $9 beers though, I'm with you!

Biased Rays Season Ticket Holder
This is such a ridiculous red herring (I don't really personally mean that against you, but I'm so sick of hearing that it's not that bad because at least it's not outside). It's a shit hole, period. Of course no one wants to sit outside in 95 degrees in Houston or Miami, yet they don't have a spectacularly awful dome in either of those cities as we do here. Hands down the worst place I have ever seen a sporting event of any type, and that includes a lot of really old small town ice "arenas".
It's an excellent homefield advantage to play in the trop. There's the catwalk. The lighting is just different enough to make it a bit of an adjustment for players on other teams. Sadly, the homefield advantage is offset agianst NY and Bos due to there usually being more away team fans than home team fans.
...I meet your Tropicana Field and raise you a Kingdome. Grey concrete roof. Maybe 5,000 fans. Echos abounding. Like watching baseball in a mausoleum.
It kept going.
Think it was a few games after ken Griffey jr stopped a hitting streak in games. Was maybe 12 so didn't notice it was a shithole
Went to a game at Comerica for a buddy's bachelor party and the best man had a terrible idea of buying standing room only tickets. Needless to say, by the 7th inning my feet were sore, my legs were tired, and I just wanted to sit down somewhere. When I tried to sit against the wall, the usher told me I had to stand up. I was hot, tired, and just wanted to go home.
To top it off the Tigers lost and I learned that standing room only tickets are never an option unless it is a world series game.
You Sir are one soft Boner
You are a soft boner. I cannot stand sitting, pun intended. There have been studies showing how detrimental sitting is for your overall health.

I don't know if it's the worst but the bathrooms are few and far between at Spartan Stadium. A very boring stadium.
Sent from MGoBlog HD for iPhone & iPad
it is a hole. Concessions areas are filthy. Went to old Comiskey Park and threw my pants away when I got home because they were so dirty from sitting in my seat. Didn't care to much for MIS either. Won tickets and took the family to experience drunks, swearing, people wearing stuff they shouldn't. We were in turn 4 and couldn't see half the race.
The north endzone improvements/additions at Spartan Stadium are great, including new restrooms and concessions. Very aesthetic inside and out.
Yeah, they haven't done anything under the stands where the vast majority of seats are. There are like four bathrooms on the main concourse... A joke.
