Your reason(s) we beat UCONN?
August 26th, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
RR owns Edsall. That is all.
August 27th, 2010 at 1:33 AM ^
when i read the title, i thought 'team speed and coaching'.
August 27th, 2010 at 8:58 AM ^
I was going to say dilithium but that works just fine too.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:16 PM ^
Because I sacrificed three squirrels, a chipmunk, my neighbor's hydrangeas and about 40 hours of my life to Thor
August 26th, 2010 at 11:19 PM ^
If you believe it will help, I am prepared to do the same.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:17 PM ^
UConn is down both starting DEs, the position in charge of defending Denard on the read option. Good luck with that, Huskies.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:18 PM ^
WERE MICHIGAN, Thats why
August 26th, 2010 at 11:24 PM ^
Sarcasm?
August 26th, 2010 at 11:30 PM ^
I feel like one of you deserves a +1 and one deserves a -1. I just can't seem to figure out who deserves what.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:46 PM ^
Tie breakers ... point should go to the one with best avatar.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:20 PM ^
Our offense is much improved
Uconn stuggles with the spread
Team speed
Superior athletes
Crowd noise (had to say it)
Improved LB core (I hope)
Big players making big plays. haha
....
August 26th, 2010 at 11:19 PM ^
They have less experience than ours, with only 4 upperclassman and all freshman CBs
August 26th, 2010 at 11:49 PM ^
Is this true? If so this makes me feel a lot better about ours.
August 27th, 2010 at 7:17 AM ^
I don't know if things have changed, but according to Phil Steele's projected lineup for UConn (not that Phil Steele is always correct, mind you) UConn has 6 upperclassmen as projected starters on defense for 2010: 4 Seniors and 2 Juniors. And their corners are Sophomores, not Freshman.
I'm not sure where airviper is gettig his information from, though...
August 26th, 2010 at 11:20 PM ^
Because Michigan is 3 point favorites and upsets never happen in the first game of the year.....wait. How about because I said so?
August 26th, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
Because if we don't, this is going to be 3 losing seasons in a row, and I am incapable of dealing with thought of such a travesty.
Also because Rick Volk(any relation) is one of my all time fav Michigan players, although I never saw him play for M. I do remember him from the Baltimore Colts glorious victory in Super Bowl V
August 27th, 2010 at 11:01 PM ^
Nope. I do have an uncle Rick Volk. He also played high school ball for a former Detroit Lions' coach named Wayne Fontes. But his career ended there.
If he had played for M, I would be bothering the shit out of the guy wanting to talk two deep and hear old school stories.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:21 PM ^
1. RR owns UConn.
2. Their two starting defensive ends are injured. Defensive ends are key to slowing down the read option.
3. Majority of starters returning on both offense and defense.
4. More mature quarterbacks.
5. Solid offensive and defensive lines.
6. Continuity with defensive coordinator and a simplified defensive scheme.
7. Depth for the first time in two years.
8. Insane atmosphere with Brock Mealer and the whole rededication thing.
9. Refer to 8.
10. Flash Dilithium.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:26 PM ^
3 TDs on the ground and 2 more through the air. Final Score 42-24.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:45 PM ^
And a 7 point FG?
August 27th, 2010 at 11:28 AM ^
I figured I'd save one score for one of the RB's.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:30 PM ^
Brock Mealer.
August 27th, 2010 at 12:23 PM ^
This is my reason
August 26th, 2010 at 11:32 PM ^
I think we win in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Rushing yards will determine the winner. The seams will be there for D-Rob and our backs. We will be better this year on punt returns and I expect one to go to the house against UConn..Of course, all this means nothing if we turn the ball over a bunch, so I will be hoping thats not an issue.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
Jordan. Fucking. Kovacs.
August 27th, 2010 at 8:08 AM ^
I like it. How about "Michigan Fucking Stadium"? Seriously, our newly renovated stadium is the shit. UConn has never played in front of 110,000 haters.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
August 26th, 2010 at 11:38 PM ^
Because stone cold said so....
August 27th, 2010 at 9:04 AM ^
And that's the bottom line.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:44 PM ^
The speed of Denard and the lack there of with those chasing him.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Reason 1: This isn't basketball..
Reason 2 1: Our offense will strike quick and often, forcing them out of their running attack to a passing one.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
I love your posts. That said, I'm all for them trying to run. The secondary terrifies me until Michael Floyd and Dayne Crist are in the rearview mirror.
August 27th, 2010 at 7:23 AM ^
Bad news: Our secondary is going to suck all year long...it won't magically get better after the ND game.
Any team with WR's who have full use of both legs and can run faster than a 4.7 40 will be a problem for our secondary all season.
August 27th, 2010 at 11:39 AM ^
You give 40 times way too much credit. There's a huge difference in running a 40 yard dash on a track, by yourself, in track spikes, no pads, and doing it on the field. Plus we run a ton of zone, so speed isn't everything for us.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
1) Denard's coming out party
2) Gerg's LBs' coming out party
3) PR/KR hold on to the damn ball
4) Floyd/Rogers hold their own
August 26th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
them staying with our athletes. They have....in my opinion...very few "really good" football players. We have lots. Maybe a lot more than most of us even realize.
I just honestly dont see it being all that close.
Michigan 42 UCONN 17
August 26th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
Denard Forcier.
August 27th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
With their two starting DEs out I think we get Dilithium running the read option early and often with a lot of success. Which in turn, will make their secondary, which is as young as ours(!), even more vulnerable.
A comfortable 35-24 win for Blue!
August 27th, 2010 at 12:05 AM ^
Because I dreamt that the score was 38-13.
August 27th, 2010 at 1:05 AM ^
We're smart enough, we're good enough, and gosh-darn-it, people like us
August 27th, 2010 at 1:07 AM ^
We're Michigan.
August 27th, 2010 at 1:56 AM ^
This is rapidly approaching "posbang thread" status. Let's all get in a good pre-game MGoPoint boost, baby!!
August 27th, 2010 at 3:29 AM ^
Our stadium is bigger than yours.
August 27th, 2010 at 7:25 AM ^
Since we have the biggest stadium in CFB (again!) that means we are gonna go undefeated, right?
AWESOME!
August 27th, 2010 at 7:29 AM ^
That's why!
August 27th, 2010 at 7:59 AM ^
Because this guy -------------------------------------------------->
August 27th, 2010 at 8:02 AM ^
So when their QB tries to dribble, it will bounce funny and we'll scoop 'n score 14 times.
UM 98, UConn 0.
(If he doesn't dribble, it's fucking travelling - Michigan ball 1st & 10)
August 27th, 2010 at 8:10 AM ^
Our new Mike backer, and Safety (both switched from offense) will help to shore up spots that we were horrible in the past two years. If we can get some solid play out of the LBs and DBs this year, it will go a long way in helping to stop the opposition. I really just hope they can stop the run this year. 92nd in the nation is embarassing even for a mid-major scholl, let alone UM. Let's hope to see some good form tackling, and reduce the amount of missed arm tackles.
