Your predictions for tonight's BCS Discover Tostitos All State Buffalo Wild Wings National Championship game?

What you think will happen tonight?  I think Bama will pull away in the third quarter to win 24-13.

FWIW, my non-scientific and non-expert reasoning is as follows:

*ND played a well-balanced schedule (no Western Kentucky or Florida Atlantic, unlike Bama), and they (of course) went undefeated.  You can't take that away from them, and they showed themselves to be a very solid and consistent team.  However, they played a number of close games against lesser teams - including a win at home against Pitt that required a missed FG in OT by Pitt's kicker.  Also, ND's wins in big games look less impressive than they did when they were played.  USC and Oklahoma, for example, just aren't as good as they were advertised to be, though Oklahoma is obviously much better than Lane Kiffin's salute to underachievement.

*Alabama played a less balanced schedule, with opponents ranging from the teams mentioned above to the Arkansas John L. Smiths to LSU and Georgia...I realize that LSU lost the Peach Bowl, but I still think of them as one of the best teams in the country...Bama also had four shut outs, which is impressive even if they were against poor opponents...As for the Tide's game against Texas A&M, there is both good and bad:  It was a loss, something ND didn't have, but it was also a very close loss against a very good and very hot team.

* At the risk of being overly Michigan-centric and invoking the non-existent transitive property of football, my belief that Alabama will win is rooted primarily in the fact that the Tide trounced our Wolverines on a neutral field while ND needed a massive offensive implosion by Michigan to win in South Bend.  I think 2012 Michigan would beat 2012 ND more than 50 out of 100 times.  I think 2012 Michigan would beat 2012 Alabama...fewer...times than that.

Random thoughts:

1. The health of Barret Jones could make this a closer game, obviously;

2. I think Rees would be a better option against the Tide than Golson, as Rees's passing would give ND a chance against Alabama's semi-weakness, covering people downfield;

3.  ND shouldn't be taken for granted.  I think they would win this game 25-30 times out of 100;

4. Listening to Brent Musburger talk about Nick Saban and ND for three-plus hours would be intolerable.  I strongly suggest watching without the sound;

5. This got really long.

Bama 34 - ND 6

I think ND will be lucky to score 10 points. I hope they get trucked because I want every ND fan to realize their team is far from back. They had a lucky year and I know it takes some luck to go undefeated for an entire season. However, its ND, go back to the mediocrity that I loved so much. Also, I'm hoping if Alabama wins, Saban bolts for the Browns.

Good point

Michigan is back.  We had two seasons where we were in the B1G Title hunt.  This year we lost to the #1, #2 and #3 team.  Then we lost to Neb with a QB turned WR turned back-up QB.

All in all, I would say that if ND does not win tonight, they cannot claim they are back just yet.  How is playing $hit teams all year (save us and Stanford in OT)?  They are certainly on the road to being back, no doubt.  Lets have this same conversation next year to answer the question if ND is back.

'Bama 34  ND 12

Roll Tide (although I hate nicky)

Wait, what?  Michigan is

Wait, what?  Michigan is back?  You were 8-5 this year bro.  Your schedule was easier than ours fergodssakes.  If they don't win tonight then 12-0 and the best defense in the country goes to 0-13?  Love fuzzy Wolverine logic.  We are in the NC game.  You played, and were outplayed, in the Sugar Bowl against vastly over-rated team.

Well once college football

Well once college football playoffs begin, the championship game is going to be the only one that sponsors are interested in (not really but kind of).

"Capital One Quarterfinal Game"  compared to "Discover National Championship Game"

Any rational football fan--nay, American--would have to understand that to mean Capital One could only make it to the quarters while Discover got to play for the national championship.

 QED:  Discover >>>>> Capital One

Alabama 17 ND 14

With their defenses, I'd be shocked if this is a high-scoring game.

I'd prefer a mistake-filled borefest that ends 3-0 in OT.

I just really don't know with

I just really don't know with this one. I keep going back and forth, mostly siding with the thought that Alabama will win with relative ease, but I have repeatedly thought Notre Dame was going to lose to better opponents this year and they continue to prove me wrong. I can see an Alabama trouncing quite clearly, much like the Michigan opener. I can also see a low scoring defensive slugfest with few red zone conversions for both teams. If that's the case, key turnovers or just crazy plays will decide the game (like Michigan-ND). The only two scenarios I can't imagine is ND blowing Bama out or a high scoring shootout. The 40.5 under might be a good bet for the gambling types.

Side note: My girlfriend is an ND alum and superfan and as I am sure you guessed, it's been a tough season for me. Pray for me to make it through tonight.

Lou Holtz will say something

Lou Holtz will say something incomprehensible, Mark May will say the opposite, Musberger will say "Herbie" a lot, Nick Saban will refrain from smiling once, and we will all get sick of hearing the phrase "Johnny Football."

That about cover it?

The mute button is a beautiful thing

I wonder what he will say instead of "This one's for all the Tostitos."

I have hated Musberger's hyperbole since I can remember. Every play is the biggest play of the game. He picks one or two guys to drool over, even if they are playing like crap. He then only calls them by their nicknames through the game as if he is being original. Half the time he doesn't seem to be watching the same game and just blurts things out like "FUMBLE" and "FIRST DOWN" when it's clear that neither of those things happened.

I miss the days of Keith Jackson being ABC's number one guy. Even when he was getting old and a step slow, he was better than Musberger.

Dammit.  I totally forgot

Dammit.  I totally forgot about having to see that f-ing leprechaun on the sideline all game too.  With Musburger, Holtz, and that f-ing leprechaun, this game is going to be unwatchable.  The only possible saving grace would be an Alabama player bulldozing that f-ing leprechaun en route to a 70-0 victory.  Roll Tide!

ND is out of place

They don't belong there. They're only there as a product of the media's obsession with their so called "return to prominence." They have been luck time and again this season and I think tonight will be a perfect demonstration that they are not supposed to be there. People have talked the past month about how good their defensive front is. I will admit, led by Nix, it is a formidable front, however, they're facing an offensive line made entirely off future1-2 round NFL picks. Alabama's O-Line will be too much. I think Lacy and Yeldon gash ND for 100+ respectively and Bama rolls to an easy 35-10 victory.

ND

Really?  Because I thought ND was there because they beat UM, MSU, Stanford, USC, Oklahoma, and all the other teams on their schedule.  I think they will get curb-stomped tonight but you can't say they don't belong in the game.

... but not hopeful

Really? MSU and USC are not truly quality wins this year. Just put Miami in there to round out the idiocy. Enough with the schedule. Whether good or bad they are not there becuase of the teams they played. They played one top 10 team and two top 20 teams. This is no more difficult or easy than playing in any AQ conference with a cakewalk non-conference schedule (Wisconsin et al....ah hem).

They got in because they won all thier games. That is what is asked of them, and they completed it.

I am looking forward to a selection committee to hopefully put some truly rational decision making into selecting the best four teams... but not hopeful.

Alabama

They've only played one more ranked team than ND.

Alabama:  Michigan, LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia.

ND:  Michigan, Oklahoma, Stanford.

Quality wins

You make a fair point regarding MSU and USC--both had disappointing seasons and wound up not being as good as expected.  Nontheless, I still consider both of those to be quality wins.  MSU had one of the nation's best defenses and USC has the athletes to compete with any team in the nation.

No

Michigan football is better off with Notre Dame on life support, especially since they are going to be off our schedule. Too many head to head recruiting battles with them.

No it's not. It's only good

No it's not. It's only good for NBC. We recruit head-to-head against ND much more often than we do against Alabama. For at least that reason, I wouldn't care if ND lost every single game from now to eternity, especially since we won't be playing them anymore and there's no way they can benefit our strength of schedule.

Rome and Carthage

I would love to do to their football program what Rome did Carthage. Yes, they were a worthy adversary, but I want them to be irrelevant. I would be happy if 100 years from now people remembered them as an ancient power like Chicago or the military schools.

I think it's a real close game

much closer than most people think.  ND defense is really, really good.  Even with a healthy Barrett Jones, he really struggled to anchor against stronger and stouter DTs.  Louis Nix III will cause a lot of problem for Jones unless he gets help from OG.  Even with Nix at NT, ND has 2 other DE who is big, active and athletic in Kapron Lewis-Moore and Stephon Tuitt.  What ND DL do best is to wreak havoc and take on double team which frees up ND LBs to flow to the ball without having to sift through the trash to get to the ball carrier.  ND front 7 is the best that Bama offense will face all year.  Throw in an underrated ND secondary who is lead by Zeke Motta and Bennett Jackson.  Bama is a run 1st team and that plays into ND's strength.

As for Bama defense, I think they're even better than last year which is surprising considering they have multiple NFL players like Upshaw, Kirkpatrick, etc.  Like ND, they have a stout DL who is lead by Jessie Williams who is a potental 1st round pick.  Their best player who isn't declaring for the draft is CJ Mosely.  He is rangy, fast and show willingness to play physical. Mosely vs. Eifert would be a great matchup to watch for because Mosely is outstanding in pass drop back.  ND offense have to depend on Everett Golson who have improved leaps and bound this season.  Golson looked more confident and decisive than earlier this season.  If he plays well, ND have a real shot of winning the game.

I think ND prevail in a close game. 10-6.

Well, what conflict of

Well, what conflict of interest game.  I've told myself that 'Bama would work Notre Dame since it was clear this would be the matchup in this aforementioned Bowl game!  It so happens that whenever I seem to think a game would be a blowout the opposite often happens; last years MNCG game and others are exceptions but majority rules.  So, I've been trying to figure out, since I feel in my heart (and brain) that 'Bama should roll, how on earth Notre Dame can stay in this game.  I've got nothing, though, and don't see how a good Notre Dame can keep up with a really, really good Saban and Co..

Maybe their defense can stop Alabama's offense for a majority of the game and squeeze out a few drives, maybe one off of a turnover, and get on the score board- field goals won't do it though.  I still think Alabama will score a few touchdowns though, even if they are "shut down" on the rest of their drives but I find it hard to think Notre Dame can get three touchdowns on the opposing defense.  Alabama Crimson Tide 27 - Notre Dame Fighting Irish 13

Here's to the 2012 football season, ending after tonight.

This is eerily similar to 2002

'Bama (Miami), defending national champion and everyone's pick to repeat.  Possibly complacent, but we'll see.

ND (OSU), great defense with not-so-great offense.  Got pretty lucky to win some of their games and easily could have lost several of them.

I have evolved in the last decade, so if ND pulls an OSU and surprises everyone, I won't visit catatonia like a I did in Jan of '03.

Clearly the difference with the "defending national champion" in this analogy is coaching.  But I am definitely not going to count ND out in this game until they are actually out.

Roll Tide.

I think the big difference there, however, is that Alabama has Nick Saban.  The '02 Hurricanes had some joke of a HC.

That joke of a coach was 12-0 the year before

I'm not saying Larry Coker was a good coach, but I am saying when he had the talent he knew what to do with it. Those Miami teams started to go downhill after '02, but they were still 11-2 in '03 before falling to 9-3, 9-3 and then 7-6.

The problem was that he apparently wasn't very good at evaluating, developing and/or recruiting talent. Oh, and he couldn't keep his team under control, either.

Coker

Those Miami teams from the early '00s were ridiculously talented--comparable to the USC teams under Pete Carroll or the Alabama teams under Saban.  And at the time, Miami was still in the Big East and played maybe 3 or 4 legitimate opponents per year.  Any coach with a pulse would have had a decent chance of going 12-0 with that 2001 Miami team.

Yeah you had guys like Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, Frank Gore was the 3rd running back I believe on the depth chart, Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Kellen Winslow, and I'm sure a ton of others I'm forgetting. But man were they loaded. How do you lose a college football game when you have Andre Johnson catching passes with Frank, Clinton, or Willis running the ball? Not to mention a great defense lead by Ed Reed.

They were 35-3 from 2001-2003 with two BCS bowl wins

And one BCS bowl loss in OT. Any coach with a pulse could have done that? That's still a tough job even with a loaded team.

Now, if you want to disaparage Coker's ability to maintain a program go right ahead.

It's going to get ugly in the second half.  Saban has shown a great ability to gameplan for you if given enough time, and nothing about this ND team strikes me as an elite unit capable of moving the ball against Alabama's defense.  I don't think the Tide's offense will do much either, but if they get up 7-10 and ND has to start throwing, I could see turnovers and field position clearly going in Alabama's favor.  Final score will probably be Alabama 31, ND 10, with a defensive/special teams TD for Alabama making it look bigger than it was.

Another violation of the First Amendment right to free speech without downward moderation. That down-voting part is in really small print, you have to look very closely to read it -- thankfully James Madison stood strong for our nation's flame-baiters.

but he has a very valid point.   When someone puts up a prediction topic on this blog, it actually is a "Predict the more favorable result in the eyes to the majority or prepare to be down moderated" thread.

It's not about having your feelings hurt.  It's about the unbridled ignorance that we are occasionally subjected to on this board.

While that's definitely true at times...

it also seems like an innocuous "I think ND wins 21-14" or whatever post won't usually stay grayed out for long as more people click to see what the post actually says. I don't post in these threads very often, so maybe I just don't pay enough attention, but it seems like contrarian views that provide some kind of rationale are also way less likely to be downvoted in the first place.

The annoying part is that it falls to people who see things the way you do (and I would put myself in that camp) to upvote any of those posts, instead of leaving them grayed out.

Alabama will win if they play

Alabama will win if they play a mediocre game. What it will take for Notre Dame to win is if every player on all 3 phases plays the game of their lives, and has alot of luck, 5 or 10 freak turnovers, the offense gets hopped up on steroids and meth, and the qbs and rbs play 5 times better than they've played all year.

Alabama gets a lot of hype

Alabama gets a lot of hype this year after destroying Michigan and Arkansas early But neither of those teams lived up to their preseason hype. They played extremely close games with LSU and georgia and lost to Texas A&m ( They could have easily lost to LSU or Georgia).

Notre Dame has beaten every team they played unlike Alabama and also unlike Alabama they didn't play a weak schedule.... I know, i know sec SeC. Notre Dame has found a way to win all of it's games this year and I don't see any reason why that stops here.

Notre Dame's schedule was

Notre Dame's schedule was actaully pretty easy.  The Pac 12 was overrated this year and Stanford almost lost to 7-5 Wisconsin.  Oklahoma was overrated and was exposed easily against Texas A&M.  ND almost lost to Purdue, BYU, and Pitt.  Alabama crushed all inferior opponents with ease.  If Bama played Purdue, BYU, or Pitt, they'd win by more than 3.

 Alabama was the best team

Alabama was the best team ever in the history of college football earlier this year. They didn't beat all inferior opponents they lost to Texas A&M at home. A lot of good teams stomp inferior teams the great teams win the close ones.

And that 7-5 Wisconsin team put 70 on Nebraska a team we couldn't score on period. Put your rocks down your house is as glass as they come. I don't like Notre Dame anymore than any of you do but I still think they win this game

It's not about who struggles with who it's about winning and ND won every game they played.

The 2002 Buckeyes struggled against some lesser teams but they still beat a Miami team folks thought was going to blow them out. Stop down voting my posts cause you dont agree with my opinion, I can do that too

You can say the same for SEC

South Carolina had to score a last second TD to beat a mediocre Michigan team.  UGA so called vaunted defense got shredded by a medicore Nebraska offense.  LSU lost to Clemson.  Northwestern beat Mississippi State. Florida got shredded by Louisville. The only good win by SEC so far is Texas A&M dominating Oklahoma.  Bama had the benefit of missing Florida, UGA(until champ game), South Carolina. Instead of facing the three teams in regular season, they faced terrible teams like Kentucky and Tennessee.

In awarding championships I agree with you. But when you are trying to predict the outcome of a future game, I think how well a team played against a previous opponent is at least as important as whether that team won or lost.

Good offense and great defense beats average offense and great defense. Bama's OL should wear down ND's front 7 just enough to put it away in the 4th quarter.

I'd almost rather see ND get only 1 point. Alabama torches them for 7 straight touchdowns, but on the last extra point decides to have someone take the snap and run 98 yards backward and kneel it in their own endzone as a joke.

2002 Ohio didn't struggle with so many under 8 win teams.  ND struggled with Purdue, BYU, and Pitt just off the top of my head.  Their impressive wins actually look pretty bad now that bowl season is over and Oklahoma got destroyed and Stanford almost got beat by a 5 loss team.

Nitpick

You can only realistically score a one-point safety if you are the team that just scored a TD.  For instance, in the Oregon-KSU game, Oregon scored the single point after KSU blocked Oregon's extra point attempt, then took the ball back into their own end zone.  The only way that a team could score a one-point safety as their only point of the game would be if the other team scored a TD, then took a 97-yard sack on their conversion attempt.

Even then, I think the defending team would be awarded a standard two-point safety, not a one-point safety.

EDIT: Never mind. According to Wikipedia, you're right. But couldn't that also occur if a blocked PAT or an intercepted two-point conversion attempt is returned to the endzone by the defensive team? Is there any difference between a 99-yard sack and rerurning an INT or fumble, in the context of a failed two-point conversion or botched PAT try?

Or Alabama gets the extra

Or Alabama gets the extra point blocked; Notre Dame runs it back, fumbles it into the end zone, Bama falls on it.

@FrankMurphy (from the ever-reliable Wikipedia):

In college football a conversion safety can also be scored by the defense as well as the offense.[20] While one has never been scored, a defensive conversion safety is the only possible way, other than a forfeit, in which a team could finish with a single point in an American football game.[22]

The one-point safety is a bit

The one-point safety is a bit of a misnomer. You can only score a one-point safety on a failed PAT attempt, so it's effectively the same as if you made the PAT. It isn't as big of a deal as the talking heads have made it out to be.

In American football, there is no way to score a solitary point.

He bumped into me once....

Literally.

I was covering Sports for my HS newspaper and had access to an otherwise closed event (hey, what can I say, credentials!) in 1991? I want to say 1991. Anyway, it was for the College Football Awards ceremony, which used to be held at the College Football Hall of Fame, which USED to be located in Mason, Ohio.

Anyway, Musberger was MC'ing the event. About an hour ot so before it went on the air, I was touring around the Hall, rounded a corner, and there was Brent, head buried in notes, walking toward me, with a small entourage. I tried to take evasive action, but before I knew it, he had bowled into me. He looked up, started, and said, "Why don't you watch where you're going, young man?"

I've not been a Musberger fan since.

Met Desmond Howard that day, and got to sit right behind (and chat with) Johnny Unitas. I'll never forget that.

And yes, I know, cool story, bro.

You're right. He's not as bad as I make him out to be but I'd still prefer Gus Johnson or Keith Jackson.

Yeah, well, nobody is as good as Gus Johnson or Keith Jackson.  Unless they got James Earl Jones to broadcast a game.

Predictions and wishes

Prediction?  Alabama wins in a blowout.  Both teams have great defenses; only Alabama has a good offense.

Wishes?  This game is terrible.  Either ND wins and I have to hear all the return-to-glory talk from all the domers in my office, or Alabama wins and ESPN talks about how the SEC has 300 straight championships and is the only conference with fast players.  Maybe the blimp will crash into the stadium, rendering the field unplayable and forcing a split national championship.  That would be immensely satisfying.

The Ess Eee See talk doesn't

The Ess Eee See talk doesn't bother me too much. They have won the last six national championships. It's hard to argue with those results (even if they are ethically challenged).

Notre Dame fans, on the other hand, piss me off to no end. One good season and they act like it doesn't matter that they've sucked for the past 20 years. With all the special treatment they get and the faux "mystique" they've been able to maintain despite their massive ineptitude, it's about damn time they amounted to something. ND should act more like Boise State and just be happy to be here (actually, Boise has had a better record in BCS games than ND).

If Notre Dame wins,

it'll be by 3-6 points. If Alabama wins, it'll be by 10+ points.

I believe Alabama will win 30-13

Lou Holtz possibly made a good point on College Football Live a little bit ago; this notion of him making a good point is a paradox in and of itself, but bear with me.  He brought up a point about Notre Dame implementing some option offense into their gameplan to keep Alabama honest on defense.  This would keep them from running so much of their pro-style defense that incorporates lots of stunts and "difficult" concepts that helps make them a superior unit.  What say the football gurus around here?  Would this help negate the talent (and probably scheme) advantage that Alabama normally has on an offense?

So what you are saying...

...in essence, is that ND would have a "decisive schematic advantage"?

I agree and disagree with the above.  The time dedication needed to implement said offense might be a bit of a stretch.  But, the fact that a tame Michigan team couldn't get the edge I don't think equates to ND not being able to.  Their O-line is better than Michigans and they have a decent-at the least, running back.  I don't recall Michigan trying to get the edge either, with Denard.  A few run plays but much passing to open things up, which we all know didn't happen.  I've somewhat drowned the memories of that game so if what I just typed is asinine and not very factual, forgive me.

I don't neccesarily think

I don't neccesarily think it.  I thought it a possible, practical way for ND to move the ball and maybe get some points on a few drives, something that thaey'll need to do, obviously.  Again, like some are saying below, I'm not sure enough time and preparation has gone into and was even possible for implementing said offense, but, Michigan implemented a spread n'shread offense in Lloyd's going away party against Florida.  I understand that in some ways is an apples to oranges comparison, for numerous reasons.  Anywho, I guess I thought it an interesting point.  I'm not sure why Lou would say that, well maybe because he's senile and has lost it, if he didn't think something likI that would take place tonight.  Again, with all the  boring back n' forth hoopla over this game, I found that a different take on how ND could maybe hang with big, bad Alabama.

Option

The option has always been, and remains, a legitimate way for the offense to gain a numbers advantage against any defense.  But to run it effectively, a team needs to commit to the option and practice it rigorously.  You also need a QB who not only can run the ball, but who is also good at making the reads. It's not really something you can realistically install for a bowl game.  Maybe a few plays that you can run as a change-of-pace or something, but not as the bread & butter of your attack.

I think this is one of the instances where the transitive property is useful. We lost to Alabama because we were thoroughly outclassed at almost every position. That was clearly not the case in the ND game. We had a shot at winning despite turning the ball over six times.

'Bama, 35-7.

Yes, but...

I think ND is a better team now -- perhaps, decidedly better -- than when we played them, early in the season. Do you agree?

No. They needed a blown call

No. They needed a blown call and a missed FG in OT to beat Pitt (!) in the ninth game of the season. The USC game was also in doubt until late in the 4th quarter. ND is no better now than they were when we gifted them a win back in September.

With you however I think we to are a much better team. Devin and Denard would have a field day and we know our Defense could shut then down. We are the better team but lost because better teams do that sometimes

my prediction?

if Bama wins, then we have to keep hearing about S-E-C! S-E-C!

if Notre Dame wins, well, thats pretty much self explanatory.

So, for me? Pain. Either way

Alabama 23, ND 10.  I also predict I'll be fed up with hearing about whichever team wins within 10 seconds of the game being over.

I'm total homer anti-ND guy

but I honestly do believe ND will struggle to score at all. Their offense is not that impressive.

Alabama Offense v Notre Dame Defense - PUSH

Alabama Defense v Notre Dame Offense - I think that's a big win for Alabama.

I'm gonna guess Bama wins 25-12

Some Thoughts...

Depending on where you go, the spread on this game sits at Alabama -9 or -10 or thereabouts with the O/U sits around 40 points.

From a productivity standpoint on offense, Alabama averaged 38.5 points per game to Notre Dame's 26.8 points, and yet the edge on scoring defense actually goes to Notre Dame by mere tenths of a point (10.7 to 10.3). However, Notre Dame is, by the totals, has the best  rush defense that Alabama has faced and the second-best pass defense - I have to think that McCarron-Lacy-Yeldon connection may have some drives where they don't look quite like Alabama.

That being said, however, Notre Dame would need Everett Golson and  that offense running on all cylinders to really be in immediate danger of stumbling upon a win in this game, I think. Unless the Irish can render Lacy and Yeldon totally ineffective, Alabama scores one way or another. The Nix-Jones matchup at nose tackle and center respectively might have much to do how McCarron does. If Notre Dame can't get pressure, I don't think they win.

I could see a 24-14-ish game here, going to Alabama.

Alabama 23 Notre Dame 6

Both teams are a draw on defense, though a slight edge for Bama in both YPG allowed and passing D.

On offense, both teams are middling passing teams (Bama 61st, NStain 75th).

Biggest difference between the two teams is rushing offense and scoring. Alabama is a much better rushing team (13th vs. NStain at 27th) and scoring offense (Alabama ranked 15th) than Notre Dame (ranked 75th).

You forgot "Presented by Vizio". That said, no matter how much we look at the numbers, they don't mean much when the ball is snapped. Upsets happen. Just like tonight. ND 23-20.

I predict a defensive/conservative gameplan

much like Tresselball.  I see Bama winning  21-17 or 19-16.  The highest score I can see is 27-13, and that's only if Bama jumps out to a 17-3 lead at halftime.

It won't be that great of a game to watch, I am actually hoping for a sloppy monsoon with six to 10 turnovers and 300 yards in penalties culminating a 9-0 win for Bama.

I hate both, but the only school I hate more than ND is Ohio so I have to root for Bama.  Besides there is a really hot chick at work that is a huge Bama fan.

You guys putting up

You guys putting up 20, 30, 40 points are crazy.

Bama wins 12-6.

Bama's 12 is a TD (+PAT), a FG, and a safety.
ND manages only a pair of FGs.

ND wins

Bama plays 11-on-18 ball tonight, and loses a close game decided by penalties and controversial calls at inopportune times.  The NCAA loves it when ND wins a "National Championship."

if i was smart, i'd take bama. but notre dame is a team of destiny this year. i think the game tonight will go for notre dame how last year's sugar bowl went for us. bama will throroughly outplay them and stuff their offense, but they will make critical mistakes at the worst possible times that give notre dame points. yeldon and/or lacy will inexplicably fumble at least twice. the football gods just will not let notre dame lose tonight. notre dame 24-21. glory restored. apocalypse commenced.

That the BCS banner on the 50 yard line will be gigantic and that instead of having the universities names prominately displayed in the end zones they'll downsize them so they can have additional BCS banners displayed.

42-7 Bama

In the same way Nebraska's luck caught up to them in the B1G CG, ND will run out of luck tonight.  Additionally, Alabama has too much talent.  I think Notre Dame has one big play that scores, and it will be a 21-7 halftime.  Yet, Bama will be too strong and pull away for the 42-7 win.  Roll Tide!
