Your predictions for Michigan at MSU

Submitted by Eye of the Tiger on

Get them in now, while it's early!

Though I'm seriously concerned about our offense's ability to get it done against an actually good front 7 that's going to sell out against the run, I think in a lot of ways, they have more riding on this game and no matter what Vegas says, they are the ACTUAL LOGICAL favorites.  Though they do get their stops in, in the end that pressure negates the home-field advantage, as does a very smart gameplan from Gorgeous Al.  We overcome a bad Denard INT or two with a couple turnovers ourselves, and win a tense one.

Michigan 24 - MSU 16

This will be a result of the superior defense of Michigan State along with their excellent offensive capabilities. Also, the Michigan State coach is very good at his job and actually has a historical performance of 3-1 against the Michigan Wolverines,

The Historic performance you speak of is against the RR coached wolverines and just about everyone in the big ten had a winning record against them, This is a different Michigan team on sides of the ball. MSU's biggest win came against a depleted OSU squad in the rain and notre Dame had no problem moving the ball and scoring on their superior defense.

We'll find out on Saturday tho won't we

 Michigan wins 24-17

I once tried to bake a cake with some generic ingredients. It was not good. Then my sister, who is an award winning pastery chef, cooked a cake with the same ingredients, it was much better than mine. My other friends from the neighborhood concurred that not only was hers better than mine but better than any that their mom's could make either.

She then entered that cake into a competition against other good pastry chefs baking cakes with similar ingredients. Her cake, which we thought was so good, was swiftly cut down when put against the cakes of the other pastry chefs.

The moral of the story is, a master can do much more with the same ingredients than can a novice, but at the end of the day, it takes more than just good chef work to win a cake competition

Wait, but our ingredients are actually better than your ingredients according to nearly every recruiting website. The funny part is that I don't think you will get the irony in your argument that coaching doesn't mean everything, it is the players that matter, when your players aren't as talented as ours.

We have about the same numbers on defense, our offense is light years better, we have fewer losses, our schedule has been tougher, and we beat a team that took you out behind the woodshed. If our team isn't talented, what does that make your team? The irony is that you are talking trash to a team that has played better than you with a new coach in a new system, so discounting coaching is actually pushing the scale towards us even more. Also, you're a tool.

Little brother is always good for a laugh every now and then.  If you think Mike Hart cursed us or that the rivalry has flipped you are wrong good sir.  Hart said something along the lines of "you let your little brother take the lead for a bit to get his hopes up and then you just take it away from him." Did you think he was talking about a first half lead? NO! He was talking about actually letting you win a few games.

I'm glad Dantonio got that extension because when Hoke starts to ramp up the wins I think the MSU fanbase will start to call for his head because they actually think they could stay on top. Do yourself a favor and don't put your mortgage on this game OverTheTop.  Michigan wins this one.

Realy think they're going to win by 10?  We already faced the best QB we're going to face this year in Persa (unless we play Wisconsin), and their OL, as far as I know, isn't decimated like State's is, and we sacked him 4 times.  Cousins doesn't have the legs like Persa to get out of the heat, so I assume he isn't going to have a whole lot of time to get that ball out, and our corners this year, you know, actually cover.

I have M winning 31-24.

35-20, Michigan.

Some people have said; Michigan won't put up 30+ against Michigan State.  Their defense is too good, it's ranked #1 in the country...  Yeah, that's because they haven't played anyone.  They were shredded by Notre Dame, beat an Ohio State team that could barely get a first down, let alone score an actual TD.  Oh, and after that .... ghost town, cause they haven't played anyone - THAT'S WHY THEIR DEFENSE IS RANKED SO HIGH!  Denard is going to torch them on the ground, and my big, badass, bold prediction for the game...

-- wait for it --

Devin Gardner will throw for 2 TDs!

4 Wile field goals

3 Denard Scrambles for TDs (+ 3 - 2pt. Conversions in which Denard hands off to Molk)

3 Jordan Kovacs safeties (2 of Cousins; 1 of Worthy where he'd been put in on some bullshit trick play)

2 Gallon punt returns for TDs (1/2 on the PATs)

1 67-yard field goal from the right hash by Gibbons, just to prove that Hoke was telling the truth in the press conference about his range.

If there is another way to get to 58, I don't think it would be this much fun.

I am totally wityh you on the 3 Denard scrambles for TDs (with the 3 2-poin conversions, although I think that Molk only featuers on one, with Denard tossing to Hemmingway and Roundtree on the others, but why quibble), the 3 Kovacs safeties (including your breakdown of 2 Cousins and 1 Worthy), the 4 Wile FGs and the 67-yard Gibbons FG.  But, the part about Gallon returning 2 TDs in a game is just not going to happen.  Maybe 1, and another long run into Sparty territory, but sorry, I think you need to be realistic.

Early lead for Sparty, but thier weak interior line gives up some sacks and third and short stops which kill some of thier drives, maybe 16-7 at halftime.  We hit some big plays in the second half as our offence comes alive and win 35-27

Gun to my head:

U-M: 28

MSU: 31.

Prove me wrong, Wolverines!

EDIT: Dangit. I can't imagine MSU putting up 31 on us, but I still have a bad feeling about the game. At the same time, I can't see them holding us to less than 28. Can I predict a Michigan loss by a score of U-M:28 to MSU:24?
