Your Picks for Big 10 Division Winners?

Not OT!

Who you got this year in each division?  Most of you will say Wiscy and tOSU, but...

I think Minnesota is gonna be the surprise in the West.  Just a gut feeling... I think Jerry Kill is a helluva coach, they have a returning QB who's not god-awful (high standard, I know), and no one else out there looks scary.  Frankly, the coaching out West is an effing joke.  I have zero confidence in Paul Chryst -- wasn't he, like, 6-6, 6-6, and 6-6 at Pitt? -- or the new guy at the Huskers.  Iowa is a tire fire...but Iowa looks like Alabama compared to Illinois or Purdue.  Northwestern is Northwestern.

In the East, I don't think tOSU wins the natty, they are getting too much hype and somewhere along the way they will stub their toe.  I'm already holding by breath, hoping that's in A2 in November.  So I'll be a total homer and pick the good guys!

I'm not sure if it's happened yet or who decides if a trophy is on the line, but my belief is that they wouldn't be playing the rivalry game in the post season. It may be a game against your rival but you both are playing for a "better" trophy. That would be the B1G's spin on it.

I'll go with OSU and ...NW

Why not? I'll bet it's a 9-3 or 8-4 team in the west with 2 conference losses & goes through on tiebreakers. So most guesses would be resonable (Illinois being the exception)

I looked it up...MSU travels to the toilet, so I'll let that be the decider & begrudgingly give the nod to OSU

Wisconsin vs Ohio St

Boring, I know.  I just can't see anyone stopping the Buckeyes in the BIG.  Wisconsin would probably be the 3rd or 4th best team in the East division, they are fortunate to be placed in a weak West division.

Maxxxxxxxxxxx Williams and David Cobb were the two biggest playmakers on an otherwise pedestrian offense. I am not impressed by Leidner at all.

Their defense will be tough and fundamentally sound, but overall they lack the athletes to be anything more than okay.

Minnesota is a well-coached football team that will play their hearts out, but come up short against the better teams because of a lack of difference makers on offense and defense.

I see Nebraska and Wisconsin ahead of them.Riley is a fine coach who should at the very least sustain what Pelini had going and I think Chryst fits Wisconsin to a tee. I think they'll still be a good program even after being horsewhipped by Alabama next Saturday.

The East is OSU and for obvious reasons. That team is flat out loaded.

As an aside, does anyone think it's odd that  once again Conner Cook was not elected one of MSU's captains?  Kind of strange to see a supposed top ten NFL pick not once be named as captain.

This is the year that Kirk Ferentz gets it done and wins the west. then, in the title game it will be Rudock vs his former team in an epic showdown.

Paul Chryst might have been an uncreative hire for Wisconsin (he was on staff there for many years, so it isn't unfamiliar though), but they did keep Dave Aranda, who seems to be a pretty decent DC and Chryst probably retains the system for which Wisconsin has recruited for centuries with little variation.

The also draw Rutgers and Maryland and probably still make a decent showing in their own division, so I wouldn't underestimate their ability to be Wisconsin almost regardless of who is coaching.

says Minn and us.  My head says OSU/Nebraska.  I think Wiscy and Minn both have off years, and I don't think Iowa recovers from losing Rudock, either because their starter ain't so good, or he gets hurt.

all of the "experts" say to pick in your March Madness pool...and then they go out in the first round. They will beat a quality team or two, but they are not playing in the BIG Championship Game. It is going to come down to Wisconsin and Nebraska again...and probably Wisconsin winning...and getting smoked again by Ohio State...or Michigan. How is it possible that Wisconsin avoids Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State and Michigan during the regular season...yet they could earn a spot to play for the BIG Championship? Talk about a bunch of horse shit.

Minnesota lost its 2 star players on offense.  Their QB is junk.  They don't have the depth just to replace players at this point.  The hype around Minn right now reminds me of the hype of the last great coaching phenom in the Big 10  - Fitzgerald - after Northwestern's 10 win season.  You know what followed.

I would be selling their stock this year but buy it for your 401k this December after the glow wears off.  I think after TCU decimates them people will come to reality - this is a roster with 1 whole 4 star on it.  They do have a great secondary.

I don't have much confidence in Minnesota or Wisconsin this year at all, so the weakest West in history goes to Nebraska by default. OSU cruises in the B1G Championship Game unfortunately.

OSU, well as Ric Flair said: "To be the man, you have to beat the man."  And I can't see anyone doing that this year.

Nebraska: (1) Riley's a pretty good coach (under-rated), (2) the schedule is favorable (Wisconsin and Iowa and MSU at home, toughest road game at Minnesota), (3) I like Armstrong more than most (sounds like he'll get the chance to throw the ball a lot).

UNL is a flawed team, but with their schedule, I give them the edge over Wisconsin.  Minnesota, I am not on that train at all, they will miss both Maxx and Cobb A LOT.   Iowa, NW, Purdue & Illinois are all a further tier below.
