Your earliest Michigan FB memory

With the current theme of looking back at the past I thought this would be a decent topic.

My uncle took to my brother and I to our first game in '89 when I was 9 years old, so that's the earliest one I can really put my finger on.  But the moment I truly "became a fan" was unquestionably on the 2 pt conversion PI call on Desmond in 90.  I think I had one random MSU sweater for some unknown reason...after that moment that thing never saw the light of day again.

Watching him run is my first memories of team. I think his name helped my memory hang on. Also Mercury Hayes  played at some charity BBall game that I went to ( I think at a highschool by my house, hardly remember. I just remember me and a bunch of other young kids crowding around him as he took off his jersey and threw it up for grabs. I wound up getting knocked over.

Robinson also packed snow into a plastic bag for his return flight.
"Melted on the plane," he said.

I don't remember any specifics, what year it was, which game we may have been watching (I think the short memory is probably a combination of several instances of the same thing happening), but I was in our basement watching a game with my dad.

He's a relatively quiet guy. Not shy, but just doesn't really go crazy about much, and he doesn't really care all that much about sports in general. Seeing the look on his face and hearing the scream of "OH BABY!!!!" coming from him as he jumped off the couch after a touchdown just put everything over the top for me. If he was that excited about this, I should be too.

I moved to Ann Arbor from North Carolina the week before the Michigan v. Washington game, and also Phil Brabbs is from my Dad's hometown.  So it was my first real exposure to The University of Michigan and I was completly sold from that day on.

Before that I was a fan of Mack Brown's University of North Carolina.

The third Saturday in November, 1969. I was 9 yrs. old. My parents left me alone in the house. I was flipping through the channels on the new Zenith color television. I saw two teams playing football - one had really cool helmets. I watched with interest as some kid named Garvie Craw scored a touchdown against what was supposed to be an unbeatable team coached by some fat man in a short sleeve shirt. It changed my life.

My first experience with college football was the 1976 Orange Bowl.  I was living in Germany and AFRTS probably showed it tape delay a week after it happened for all I know.  Whatever, I was in third grade and it was the first time I’d seen Michigan’s uniforms and helmet and I was enthralled.  In retrospect, it was probably written in the stars at that moment that I’d end up going to school at Michigan.

I just feel sorry for people like you.  It can't be fun to go through life so angry and critical, which is what all people who troll really are.  If you were a happy positive person, you would never take the time to write something so dumb, and thus, I feel sorry for you.

Sure, points are indeed pointless.  But they help this community communicate to others when they like what they say and when they don't.  What is so terrible about that?  Try being a happier person, you'll enjoy it more.

As a side, my first memory is the Kordell game.  My first memory in life is of me throwing up after eating a jar of pickles.  Funny how your first memories tend to be traumatic.

My first M memories are also from the Leach era (thus, my handle). I went to several games with my Dad in the seventies. The one I remember best was a 70-14 shellacking of Navy. It stands out for two reasons. First, we were learning our multiplication tables in second grade that year, and over the weekend I became the first in my class to master my 7's. Second, I remember the cheer "yay Wood! The kick is good!" (for the extra point exploits of pk Bob Wood), which may or may not have been invented by my parents (but I thought everybody said it).

Bo's first year.  I remember the stadium was not full and I went with some friends and ran around in what was then box seats, the first 4-6 rows where not many people were sitting that day.  This was a time where your parents could drop you at the stadium and it was like $3 or so to get in for students (K-12).  You would go with a bunch for friends and have free roam of much of the end zone.

I remember watching the OSU game on TV.  I have vague memories of us killing Iowa and Arizona in those early years
