"Michigans JV Defense better have improved alot since last year"

Hmmmmm. For some reason I dont think that our starting defense is very JV. Especially since we held Ohio State to 21 points last year.

Well, according to OSU fans

we didn't hold them to 21. They went conservative on offense (HA!) when they had that commanding 11 point lead in the third quarter.

Tressel is known for running

Tressel is known for running a conservative offense in a lot of games.  He only passed the ball 17 times against us, but he also passed the ball exactly 17 times against Iowa and Penn State too.  Basically, if he has a small lead he trusts his defense as long as his offense isn't turning it over.  I honestly think that part of the reason is that he didn't fully trust Pryor to sling it down the field - at least until the Rose Bowl.

Listen

is it in the realm of possibility that we only win 5 games next year?

Yes it is.

As much as it pains us to hear that until RR makes a winner out of Michigan we will see predictions like this until he proves people wrong.  This will not be the last site to predict us <.500.

generates lots of clicks which = lots of money.

Michigan actually moved the ball

reasonably  well against OSU's defense. Unfortunately, Foricer transformed into a human turnover machine whenever we got in the OSU red zone.

Forcier handed OSU 7 points when he fumbled at our goal line WITHOUT EVEN BEING TOUCHED BY AN OSU PLAYER (sorry for the all caps, but that still pisses me off) and then Olesnavage completely deflated the team and the crowd by shanking a 20-somthing yard field goal. Add in 2 picks thrown by Tate (one of those was a late throw into the OSU end zone to a receiver who WAS open, Tate just threw the ball really late) when we were in the OSU red zone and that was an absolute nightmare scenario.

That was, by far, Tate's worst game last year, despite the yardage totals he put up.

Our starting defense had 10 JV players last year. I don't know why everyone thinks that there will be that much improvement.

Who cares what every blogger thinks?

In the "About" section of the site:

Offthebag.com was started in March of 2010 by a collection of friends who all share a common interest in sports, but from different perspectives.

Not exactly the exemplar of legitimacy. The OP need to raise the bar a bit for whose predictions we should care about. Please.

Ohio State 12-0? It seems like they're predicted to finish undefeated every year...

But even more ridiculous: MSU 10-2?! We'll see.

Move along, my friend

Bear in mind that many "experts" also predict the annual pre-season championship for USC. And they've won how many in 10 years? One? While that's certainly respectable, it doesn't justify the annual beatification of the Trojans.
It all comes down to a simple message: this is why the games are still decided on the field.

Sometimes everyonce in while,

Sometimes every once in while, prognosticators get it wrong. The great Beano Cook said something to the effect "Just send the band" in 97', when M headed into Happy Valley and certain defeat at the hands Joe Pa and the Nittany Lions.Early in 1970 the great Joe Falls, writer for  paper whose name I dare not mention, predicted something like Colts 120 Jets 0 in Super Bowl III, my dumb 9 year old ass believed him and went into premature nirvanna, only to be let down with  a thud.

Very obvious why that article hides behind anonymity.

There is no way in hell I'd sign my name to even a post that smacks of such laziness. If UM ever fielded a team that was "JV:" caliber it was, basing it on talent level and experience, the 2008 offense. With 1.5 returners and a walk-on leading half the games from qb, we very much qualified as a jv caliber unit. In fact, our experience level that season probably fell below the level of many j.v. squads that have mostly two year players starting. Such was not the case with us.

Also, those "high-caliber" transfers happened early and have not been the norm at all and although they might have provided more victories for one season, the departure of the OLmen with a 5th year left did not hurt us that much. They played a limited role under Lloyd, and their departures actually allowed for some seasoning  in what this imbecilic article labeled a "sparse:" unit or some such nonsense. This is, by far, our best position group and the one most likely to get stronger as the season progresses. We're a solid 2 deep at every position on the OL and competition is fierce. And most importantly, our roster, although bottom heavy with inexperience, actually is filled with near 85 scholarship players for the first time since '07.  If the person writing that article is ever hanged as a journalist, they're killing an innocent man.

Yet another site?  By my count, that makes two.  (To say nothing of the rather unprofessional look of this one.)
