Yankee Stadium Bowl to be Big East vs Big 12

Submitted by WolverBean on

Per Dr. Saturday, we've been scooped! The Yankee Stadium bowl game will be a Big East vs Big 12 matchup. While I'm glad to see a bowl game taking place north of the 34th parallel, I have to say I'm pissed that the Big 10 isn't taking part. I'd much rather see the 4th/5th place team play in the Big Apple than in San Antonio. Also, somehow Notre Dame gets the Big 12's spot if no Big 12 team is eligible. Seriously, it's not bad enough that they already have special BCS privileges - now they get special access to lower bowls as well? WTF.

this game would have matched Kansas vs South Florida last year, or the Big 12 wouldn't have had enough eligible teams.

So yay, boring unnecessary late December filler bowl game that I probably won't watch.

What is wrong with San Antonio? I went to high school near Fort Worth and have relatives down in that area. The town is an absolute blast, especially if you get outside the city (Riverwalk is fun, but can get old quickly) and do stuff like tube the Guadalupe River or visit the Shiner brewery.

Also, I can't wait for WVU to get into this bowl game. 20-30 thousand 'eer fans in NYC would be priceless.

I was hoping to see some of that southern speed deal with December in New York. As it is this will probably end up being Nebraska or Colorado taking turns.

We already have 8 bowl contracts. We would have been the ideal choice had the bowl been at this point last month... we're not going to abandon our three New Years games or a game in Texas and we're not going to run out on the Motor City Bowl, who needs the Big Ten to survive even though the Big Ten fills that spot maybe half the time. This could have taken the place of the Insight, but it's too late now.

i was hoping an SEC team would finally have to travel north for a bowl game. i would like to see what they could do in a cold weather grind-it-out type of game.
