The only reason I can see that THJ got snubbed in favor of Aaron Craft is how THJ played for the first half or so of the season. He wasn't terrible, but his stats weren't eye-popping either. But still...and there must be a rule that POY can't win freshman of the year, otherwise that is just backwards.

I would even consider putting JaJuan Johnson above Sullinger and maybe even Taylor. I guess I haven't watched enough of all three to compare in a fair light though, what are your guys' takes?

I really don't have a problem with the teams, but how can the player of the year in the conference, who also is a freshman, not be freshman of the year.  It's like in football when the offensive player of the year, who also plays QB, isn't an all conference QB.  Oh, wait...

Craft has far better efficiency, more assists and more steals.  Obviously their roles are very differnet, so a statistical comparison doesn't tell you much.  Shot attempts and steals - Apples and oranges.

Doesn't seem like a great injustice to me.  A supporting player on the #1 team vs a high scorer on a 500 team.  Subjective call, especially since TH has changed from an inefficient volume shooter to a star over the last few games.

I think you might want to revise your "inefficient volume shooter" note.  This was from the Front Page today

Hardaway's stats are now gross. In his last five games he's made 60% of his threes. Okay, that's a hot streak. It's more than that: since January 9th he's pulled his eFG% up from 42% to 52%. In that stretch of 14 games he's made 48% of his threes. Even if you chuck out the last five games in the other nine he's hit 42%. Over essentially half of Michigan's season—the tough half—Hardaway is hitting half his threes.

Bonus thought: Shouldn't these lists be for Big Ten play only?   THJ should have made 3rd team.

Not that it really matters anyway, it's just something I noticed.

I'd take him over Shurna, Watford, and McCamey, sure. Those three have combined for four minutes of respectable defense all year. The dude clearly looked only at scoring. How else could you possibly nominate Watford.

Hardaway hasn't been great on defense, but he's improved a lot. I'm sure that not much thought was put into this list; preseason stars like McCamey are getting on with their name and reputation alone.

Agreed. He's not great, but there is a vast gulf between "not great" and "Watford and Shurna".

I don't have a HUGE issue with Craft getting recognition over Hardaway. Hardaway is a clearly superior scorer and probably has more upside on the whole, but Craft is probably the premier Defensive PG in the conference, and a valuable facilitator on the best team in the

Conference. I think he'll always be a bit of a role player, but he's been very effective, albeit in a different role than THJ.

That said, not just giving it to Sullinger makes my brain hurt.
