Xbox NCAA 11 Glitchonomics

Submitted by MGoKalamazoo on

I finally received my copy of NCAA 11 in the mail today and have so far found myself frustrated beyond belief. I started a dynasty choosing to rock Dillithium to the max. Four games in and a crazy amount of high profile recruits ready to visit, I saved. Then all hell broke loose. I decided I would try to see how horrible I am when not going against the CPU and the game immediately froze. Rebooted, tried again. Freeze. Rebooted, tried yet again. Freeze. Frustrated, I installed the game on my hard drive and tried again, only this time I looked around to make sure Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't hanging around in a Mr Freeze outfit. Didn't matter. Rebooted and decided to roll with the dynasty instead. Faster than a Lee Corso "not so fast my friend" the game froze and proceeded to do so for the next three tries. Is anyone else experiencing this garbage? I loved the demo and bought the game because of said awesomeness. Quickly I am regretting it.

Most people said they hadn't experienced it, but I have and a friend of mine has as well.

It is a shoddy piece of software. If you go to the customer service page on EASports.com you can either live chat with a representative or send them an email. They gave me an avenue to return the game even though I bought it from Gamestop.

That said, there is the possibility a patch will fix this. $60 bucks for a piece of incomplete software is outrageous.

That happens to me a lot.  I'm not sure what causes it, but I think it might be defensive touchdowns cause it quite frequently.  The game thinks action is still going the other way so it fixes the camera in the former offense's endzone, then flips it around to look down the field at you kicking an extra point.

It would really suck if the camera did that and you needed to run a 2 pt  conversion to tie late or something,

When I first bought it had a ton of glitches. I could only play 3 quarters and then it would just freeze and I'd have to reboot it and then hope it didn't do it again. I can remember playing campus legend and I made an amazing quarterback and half way through the state championship game it froze. Man I was pissed. I tend to stay away from buying games in the mail. I'd rather buy them from Gamestop or another game store. Hope you can fix the problem.

this is an absolutely inane reason for potential issues with a game.  buying a game through the mail is less reliable than buying it from a store?  seriously?

as long as the game is factory sealed and the sticker of authenticity on it, its the same.  these arent groceries.  they dont spoil.  theres no shelf life.

buying a game from a reputable online store (like bestbuy.com or amazon) is no different from walking into gamestop and grabbing it.

no, the reason why this poor dude is having trouble is probably a bad disc, or issues with his console.

I saw packages thrown, kicked, punched, ripped open, stuff stolen, torn apart you name it. I'm not buying anything in the mail anymore unless it's from USPS. I use to wonder how some of those packages even passed for mint condition after what I saw. I just have my suspicions when buying things online or from a catalog.

Yes packages that have Michigan or Michigan logos in the Columbus hub become re-tapes almost everytime. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

that isn't around here in Columbus. My father doesn't care for college football anymore, my mother went to Ohio State as did the rest of her side so when it comes to Michigan football the only place I feel I fit in with (fan wise) is with my two friends who love Michigan Tommy and Steve and here at Mgoblog. If nobody want's me on here then I'll leave. I don't feel I fit in here anyways since half of the talk is about what goes on in Michigan and there are Columbus teams I like and grew up with like the Clippers, Crew and up in Cleveland the Indians.

When Tecmo Bowl froze you just blew the crap out of the cartridge and presto, up and running. Then you would shoot a page to all of your friends break out some Molson Ice and play a tourney. Things were much simpler in the 90's. Best of Luck.

didn't want to comment on this thread for fear of it happening to me too.  But this was a hilarious comment.

Last night when I was playing 360 downloaded updates for ncaa, maybe that will help you guys out.

I save manually because of my worry that autosave doesn't save(I know it saves, I just don't want to have to re-play games). And I've never had a freeze. Sorry you had a problem. Sounds like a rare incident.

This could be true. Most games (Mass Effect 2, Fable 2, GTA IV, ect.,) however, have had glitch problems and I didn't want to wait for a patch to fix it. I can't find much on the internet in relation to the game freezing upon a load request. Looks like I have a horrible excuse of a $60 paperweight until the weekend.

I was at the last game of the regular season. Michigan vs OSU. I saved it, so I could play later.

Later happened, but the dynasty refused to load. It said it was "damaged." It still won't load. I had an awsome recruiting class and was undefeated.

Now I'm staring a new dynasty, but I wish the other would magically load...

(Edit: I lost my dynasty, and now people are negging me for it. Thats some heartless stuff...)

My advice, as it's been said on here, is to delete the dynasty and start over. It sucks, but the file is corrupted for whatever reason.

But it sounds like your Xbox is failing.

I"ve got a question for you guys. I was actually hoping this thread was about what just happened to me 5 minutes ago. I turned the game on, first time since last night, and my roster is completely different! I've got guys out of position, white guys who are black and vice versa. Not just for Michigan either, all teams. All the time I spent tweaking guys was all for not. This is fucked! Has this happened to anyone else on 360?

The Progression issue is a deal breaker for me at the moment since I play 10+ years. I have my dynasty on hold right now and hoping to god for a patch. I dont want to play rocket football after year five.

Do you get freezes with other games?  What you're describing seemed to be what started happening to me about a week before getting the red ring of death a couple years ago.

I'd be playing, boom, freeze.   Try a different game, everything fine for a few minutes, boom, freeze.  Soon thereafter, Red Ring of Death.

If it's just NCAA, then yeah it sounds like a corrupted dynasty file on the hard drive.  You might even have a dying hard drive.

Could be true. I have had the RRoD once before and promptly sent the unit in to be fixed as it was still under warranty. Six weeks later I got an xbox returned and received a RRoD three days later. Countless phone calls and complaints later Microsoft sent me a new one. That was about two years ago. I would like to think the average Xbox lasts longer. I take good care of it. This weekend I will exchange the game and see what happens.

I've been playing video games for 13 years now I have or had every system known to man. Maybe I am just lucky but, I've never had a game freeze. Then again I take super good care of my systems and cleaning them and free of dust and they can be cooled easily.

As far as rosters go you can download mine
