i actually don't think they're defending him at all. i think it's the AD trying to impress upon the public the fact that administration officials were wary and keen to monitor RR ("look how well we do our job! we never got accused of this bc we kept it from happening!") while at the same time pointing out that monitoring was "obviously" warranted. if anything, it's a slam the same way a neighbor would say "i always didn't like that Johnson boy, kept a close eye on the silverware when he came in the house for a glass of water" when little Willy Johnson gets arrested for a meth lab.

as they are saying 'we run a good program'. Giving Coach kudos is the last thing going through a lot of minds down in 'By God'; I'm sure there's a faction that would be more than happy to toss some more drama Coaches's way.

a day or two to check thru 7-8 years of compliance records and release a statement, could we possibly expect a statement (even if only preliminary) from M later this week? I wanna get all this junk behind us ASAP.
