WTKA Now thru 1100: John Bacon and Jamie Morris
http://www.wtka.com/openplayer.php
Talking coaching selection, of course.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:24 AM ^
Listening... The tone sounds ... depressing? Mention of Jim Harbaugh... grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Shoot me.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:27 AM ^
...of the decision to fire all of the assistants immediately as it's left the entire team without authority figures for the time being.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:47 AM ^
Morris has no room to talk when it comes to authority figures seeing how he is was fired by the AD.
January 10th, 2011 at 11:39 AM ^
Firing GERG is the shining light in the darkness.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:27 AM ^
He sounds like some drunk in a bar.
Give me John U. Bacon any day of the week.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:28 AM ^
Agree 100%. Brian and John should have a show. "Cookin Bacon"
January 9th, 2011 at 9:34 AM ^
Jamie's saying stuff like, "They say that they contacted Jim Harbaugh... But they couldn't have, because I know Jim Harbaugh, and if they would have contacted Jim, he would have taken the job... I don't really know that, but I feel that..." Just internally inconsistent, emotional, nonsense.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:17 AM ^
Jim wanted to go pro. Period. I think Jim and DB had been talking but when Jim's stock went through the roof with the end of the season and the Orange Bowl win, he got NFL stars in his eyes. He's a super competitive guy, and while bringing Michigan back to national prominence would be a big deal, going up against arch-rival Pete Carroll in the NFL felt like a bigger deal to him. He had the opportunity to stay in the bay area. The money was right. The planets aligned, not in Michigan's favor. I used to like Jamie Morris, but this is just drivel.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
He only coached against the guy for three years.
January 9th, 2011 at 11:13 AM ^
But they really fucking hate each other.
January 9th, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
I think beating Pete Carroll is just one of the many things on Harbaugh's NFL To Do list.
January 9th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
Yeah but there was clearly a lot of antipathy between the two. "What's your deal man!?"
January 10th, 2011 at 10:58 AM ^
What's your deal?
January 10th, 2011 at 11:18 AM ^
True, only three years. But, it's not every day you go for two up 27 with six minutes to go.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:35 AM ^
Not "Brian goes to the John?"
January 9th, 2011 at 9:28 AM ^
don't worry. they have no idea either whats going on
January 9th, 2011 at 9:30 AM ^
Jamie with some strong words for Brandon. He seems to think Harbaugh was not contacted.
Basically confirms that no one really knows anything.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:30 AM ^
His only proof is "Because otherwise Jim would have accepted the job.... I know this... I feel this... I mean I don't know this by fact but I feel this."
January 9th, 2011 at 9:34 AM ^
The slight shift from "know this" to "feel this" made me chuckle. Nobody knows nuttin.
January 9th, 2011 at 11:07 AM ^
Jamie's opinion is clouded by his bitterness towards the AD and administration after they shit-canned him last year.
There's no question he's done a tremendous amount of positive things for Michigan and the program but f'd up and payed for it with his job. He's obviosuly not "over" it.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
^^^
We have a winner. Morris is still pissed.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:30 AM ^
If you remember Harbaugh "lost his phone number".
January 9th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
Retard. I'm glad he's not our coach.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:38 AM ^
Harbaugh... 5 kids, 3 women? Playaaaaaaaa! He can coach two teams, give me a break.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:43 AM ^
You just Cromartied him, +1 to you sir.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:15 AM ^
The stories of JH's carousing are legend, but I'm not aware he has any baby mommas. Harbaugh has three kids with his ex-wife, one of whom is an adult and on the staff at Oregon State. He just had his second child with his current wife, to whom he was married before she got pregnant.
"He can coach two teams, give me a break."
This is funny, friend!
January 9th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
He's no Shawn Kemp.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:40 AM ^
..."would be stunned" if MSC was ever on board with Jim/Bo because of his past comments.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:43 AM ^
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The past week has made everything fuzzy in the head.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:48 AM ^
...correct. For misuse of loaner cars (to AD from local dealers) for non-AD business (and for not coming clean about it when confronted).
January 9th, 2011 at 9:55 AM ^
It was not just misuse of the loaner cars. When he was confronted by his superiors, Morris lied to them flat out then attempted to get some big time donors to cover his ass. What Morris has to say about DB is completely personal.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:03 AM ^
...read what I wrote?
January 9th, 2011 at 10:35 AM ^
yep, I did. From the people I have talked to, the biggest thing was trying to get donors to cover his ass and undermine DB's authority in the department.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:45 AM ^
...Bacon says he was never offered the job (Martin and Miles never met). Morris: There was a communique from Martin to the LSU AD requesting a meeting, but the meeting never took place.
Regarding the purported Miles/LC imbroglio: can't prove a negative, but don't believe everything you hear. That said, it's clear that LC would not be in favor of a Miles hire, and that would be an obstacle.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
It dosent surprise me that Morris has strong words for Brandon. I am not defending the "process" and now the search, but Jamie Morris isnt really an unbiased source.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:51 AM ^
Yes he did, I bet he's pissed he's really out of the loop too. DB is such a CEO on this (e.g. not revealing anything until all loose ends are tied.); I respect it, but please make a decision like.... today. Please!
January 9th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
I still don't get why these callers think a. Carr still is calling the shots, b. DB never contacted Harbaugh. And why does it sound like each caller is on the highway driving an F150? (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
EDIT: Are they really playing a Jay-Z song right now?
January 9th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
No kidding. It is obvious it was not Lloyd's choice to resign from his cushy assistant AD position. DB saw a conflict of interest with Lloyd's position and eliminated it. Sure Lloyd is able to give his opinion, but at this point it means just as much as Desmond's or Braylon's. DB will do his homework and decide for himself.
January 9th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
...says go after Nick Saban.
Jamie: "Rick, you've got too much liquor in your coffee."
January 9th, 2011 at 9:55 AM ^
He was caught with two strippers... Roll Tide.
January 9th, 2011 at 2:18 PM ^
RTR!
January 9th, 2011 at 9:58 AM ^
says we should contact Nick Saban. "No, wait, listen..." Jamie suggested he'd added something to his coffee.
EDIT: Did it really take me 4 mins to type this?
January 9th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
Here reading through the threads.......you guys are a mess. At every level.
I think there is a large group of posters on here who might want to shut off their computer, step away from all media and just take a break. Because some of you are seeming mentally unstable.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:09 AM ^
Jamie Morris adds no value to this conversation thus far. Just a distraction. I'm less interested when he talks, than when Bacon does. Come on Bacon, take this conversation over.... WHOA is that Angelique? I totally have a crush on any woman who knows more about Michigan Football than I do.
Sorry, posting my stream of consciousness.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:13 AM ^
As long as Angelique stays away from the Freep and Fox 2 Detroit, I can support your crush.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
...now on the air. Can't remember the name of her last book.
Says she doesn't think this will come before mid-week.
Direct comms between Brandon and Jim/Bo? She can't confirm, but thinks there were. Bottom line, Harbaugh driven by desire to go to the NFL. Preserving his legacy of one of the greatest Michigan QBs of all time. Would be inheriting a team not set for success like his Stanford team. She never thought he'd be back in A2.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:40 AM ^
any direct contact with Bo, then he's even more powerful than we thought.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
...Jim Harbaugh channeling Bo Schembechler, not Jim Harbaugh AND Bo Schembechler.
From the M Zone:
The joke is now OBE, obviously.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
Wow, Morris is a complete moron. Between Morris and some of these callers (one guy actually said we should go after Saban) I'm losing my patience and more imporantly, my faith that Michigan fans have a true sense of reality regarding our program. If it weren't for Bacon I'd go back to sleep.
January 9th, 2011 at 10:21 AM ^
Please see my comment above about mental issues with certain posters/fans. I'm reading this stuff as an outsider, and believe me, its head shaking.
