Morning show with Sam and Ira is live from the Glick until 10am this morning. Interview w/ Swag Mattison is next up.
to play football, not to play trumpet
Even if the DEs make great moves, no push by the interior DL means all the QB has to do is step up into the pocket to make the throw. Clark and Ojemudia's (just to name two DEs) success will be significantly affected by how effective Q and Pipkins and the other interior DLs will be inside.
Wow... Make sure to listen to the podcasts if you get the chance. There is a great deal of inside information being discussed during these interviews with the coaches today, including breakdowns of Bryant's play this fall, Avery's swap, the growth of the linebackers, etc.
Worth your time.
Don't work on iPhone --correct?
They don't. Stinks!!!!
I listen to them. I downloaded the "Podcasts" app and subscribed to WTKA podcasts. Works fine.
I do the same thing & download to the Apple Podcast app, but sometimes not all the podcasts load so I have to delete the subscription and resubscribe to get them all. Not sure if anyone else has that problem. There was an update a few days ago to the WTKA app, but the podcasts still stop after a few minutes
There's an app that is great
I'm listening on my iPhone right now using the Downcast app. Pretty easy to subscribe using the wtka podcast URL.
What did he say about Bryant (other than his knee being drained)? I'd be very excited if he won the job through great play, as opposed to Braden losing the job because he is more of a tackle.
which is one reason he was held out of the scrimmage in the stadium. I have no clue whether that's normal after knee surgery, or whether it's a bad sign.
When did Bryant have knee surgery? Did I miss that?
he got hurt last Aug, 2012. knee surgery kept him out all year, don't recall if he was ok for spring practice or not
For some reason I thought he just broke his tibia. Didn't realize a knee surgery was also involved.
IDK, it was a leg.
Tibia makes up the lower part of the knee.
The tibia is actually a LEG bone
Bryant's knee "had to be drained", he was heartbroken when they told him he was being held out of the scrimmage. Doesn't sound serious in terms of keeping him out
Morris was held out to "rest him a bit". Commence baseless speculation
Great show this morning
Best case scenario is that he has been throwing to much and his arm/ muscles are sore?
Mono related maybe?
Any report that Shane's helmet was wingless Saturday?? Too soon?? ;)
Hoke indicated that position battles should be settled Thursday
Commence the 1,078th discussion on who wins each battle
Did Roy Manning hint that Ryan may be back potentially sooner than the prior timeline? That would mean before October? I heard Ira and Sam speculating, saying September wouldn't be worth it given the schedule and so on, but I didn't hear Manning's original comment.
If Ryan can't be back to 100% by the 7th of September, then I don't see any value in getting him back on the field before October. Aside from Notre Dame, Michigan ought to have plenty of defense to handle it's OOC opponents without Jake being in the line-up.
I was juggling two toddlers while I listened but I think I heard Hoke indirectly disspell the Darboh injury rumor (?)
If by dispel you mean didn't say anything when asked about injuries, then yes, he dispelled that rumor
Not an interview this morning, but Sam talked with Pipkins on strengths of Miller, Glasgow.
Pipkins says Miller is a student of the game, very intelligent. As an example he could tell which way Ondre was going based on his stance.
Says Glasgow is bigger, tougher to get around and across.
Sounds like Justice Hayes has the 3rd down back thing. Sam says they're looking at a three-headed monster at RB if I heard that right, would assume that means Fitz, freshman, Hayes on 3rd down.
Drake Johnson is getting a lot of mention by Webb.
Any more on what he said on Bryant? Is it fine his knee is getting drained right now? If anyone could post other tidbits of the show it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Had it drained last week before the scrimmage. Borges just said Bryant is having a great camp and was poised last year to start before his injury
in an earlier thread, but James Ross was asked who he needs to pay attention to when he meets them in the whole for a collision. He said he can take on whoever comes, but if he has to prepare for someone it's Bryant. This is on top of Demens saying the same thing last year.
Hoke said when Bryant hits people, there's a thud.
getting off blocks, or missing them entirely. Hoke talked about "block destruction", which is just an awesome term. Mattison talked about being a smart football player. Don't have to always take on that block, sometimes better to get there sooner or work around it.
Hoke said Morgan had his best example of that in the scrimmage Saturday night.
Sounds like it was a night scrimmage in the stadium? Said they had a walk-through in the morning, prepped similar to a game day.
floated around another site (GBW), someone posted a video on youtube. Green looked really large.
Like the already released footage, or some new stuff?
"Block destruction" makes me happy.
Why is the interview "next up?" Why can't it just be next?
