Wrestling: Maize and Blue Intrasquad Match Lineup Set

Submitted by TheTeamTheTeam… on

Edited with better format:

While not as glitzy as the Football scrimmage, the Maize-Blue match provides a great look at the season and the future. Both will be on display tomorrow. Matches:

Mattin vs Assad (3x Ohio champ freshmen vs. 3 time Ohio runner up sophomore)

Micic vs Volyanuk ( Micic is a returning all American and ranked #2 in the nation)

Freeman vs Profaci ( Profaci was a solid piece last year, Freeman, a freshmen, was a 4x Michigan champ

Metsinger vs Malik Amine ( Meisinger was 14-10 w/ 9pins last year in RS, Amine is RSJR has a key victory over Laike Gardner (Lehigh) ranked 11 at the time)

Pantaleo vs Van Anrooy (Pantaleo is a former all American moving up to 157, Van Anrooy a freshmen 4x champ from Oregon

Massa vs Hamdan (Massa is ranked 3rd and is a returning all American, got nothing for Hamdan)

Sutton vs Myles Amine (Sutton is an NCAA qualifier and former starter, Amine is an all American and ranked in top 5 on nearly all sites)

Abounader vs Embree (Abounader is a former B1G champ, Embree is a much hyped freshmen and a 2x champ

Striggow vs Beazley ( Striggow was a starter last year, Beazley is a returning all American that grad transferred in)

Coon vs Nemec ( Coon is a returning multi year all American including former runner up, Nemec is a freshmen from Illinois I believe(not sure here)

Personal Picks:

Mattin (Assad slowed by injury his whole career)

Micic (NCAA champ potentially)

Profaci (Experience and I hope Freeman is afforded a redshirt)

Amine (pure guess, has the name and the key victory)

Pantaleo (All American potential, Van Anrooy will be tough again hoping for a redshirt. Match of the night)

Massa (NCAA champ potentially)

Amine (obvious, All American potential)

Abounader (All American potential)

Beazley (All American potential)

Coon ( Anything short of runner up would be dissapointing)

With 7 Potential All-Americans this lineup if healthy could be top 3 come tournament time. 125 and 149 are wild cards, program is looking good. Definitely capable of taking out OSU this year, Penn State....not so much.

Where do you go for solid wrestling info for UM? Every year I get lucky to catch the Big Ten tournament or NCAA tourney, but I used to go to Cliff Keen regularly to watch them wrestle when I was a student. And judging by the looks of the roster, this is a pretty monster team.

Also, is this televised?
