Wrestling Hello: Joey Silva #2 132lber in the nation #9 overall

Submitted by TheTeamTheTeam… on
His only loss last year was to #1 overall recruit and Junior world team member Spencer Lee. Ironman finalist (Fell to Lee in the finals), pretty impressive resumè projected at 133/141 and with Micic around for the next 3 years he may start out at 141. If you have a FloPro account watch his Ironman run, pretty excited to see this kid in Maize and Blue! Little bit of quiet period news for the wrestler fanatics

Yes, not all states did but several changed the high school weight classes about 8 years ago. Most states high school weight classes are now 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285. I could be wrong but I believe Michigan uses the old high school weights and I think New York has a 96lb weight class.

Don't know who negged this person but consider this, we return All Americans in Micic, Pantaleo, Massa, Amine, Abounader, and Coon plus the Old Dominion transfer in and I think there's one more that I'm forgetting but penn state returns 4 national champions that will again be favored to win it all in Nolf, Hall, Nickal, Joseph. It will be very tough to top penn state with the amount of bonus points this quartet rack up as the only one of the returning champs I see having even a 50-50 shot at getting knocked off is Joseph (coincidentally by Massa). Nolf and Nickal will be legitimate Hodge finalists. Basically I think the only team we haven't gained on is Penn State. Not being negative being realistic. Do we have a punchers chance at a title, yes but We will need heavy contributions from freshmen especially at 125 in Mattin/Assad and 157 in Van AnRoy and probably one more, all would need to be top 5.

I have been to 15 of the last 18 national championships and unfortunately we don't even have a punchers chance.  PSU returns 5 champs and possibly another champ at 125.  PSU has a team that may go down as the  ever.  I love Michigan dBm will be in their cheering section next March.  This is their st team since I have started going and they will be in a fight for the podium with Iowa, Okie State, and unfortunately OSU.  Message me if you plan on being in Cleveland.  I can do weekly updates during the season if people would want that.  I coached against the Silva kid last year at a tournament.  He is the real deal.

Love myself some wrestling. It used to be the most popular high school sport in PA. I'm not sure if that is still true but I grew up in an area with tons of wrestling talent, the Lehigh Valley.

Glad to see UM getting talent.

Love to see wrestling get some attention. Now I'm just hoping to see the wrestling team make some noise at nationals for a change. Contending for a title would be the greatest for me. Mainly because I have seen football and hockey win it all in my lifetime, and wrestling was my personal biggest sport from 8th grade through college.
