Wow..LSU fans are brutal..

Les screwed up pretty badly today.. I was pretty shocked by his end-game clock management but.... The LSU fans are calling for his head right now. What do you guys think about that? The funny part is that some of them are calling(unrealistically.. granted..) for a coach swap.. Les for Rich

LSU fans were calling for the heads of every senior on that team two years ago because they lost a game AFTER WINNING THE NC THE YEAR BEFORE. Some people just like to overreact.

Actually, much of their fanbase (and the SEC in general) has regarded Miles as an idiot all along. He has never been held in high esteem there. During the 2007 season - the year they ended up finishing #1, no less - many LSU fans were genuinely puzzled as to why Michigan would want to hire Miles. There is widespread fear in Louisiana that Miles will ultimately prove to be another Larry Coker.

For a bit of schadenfreude, here's a link to LSU's Rivals board:

but the way that game ended is one of the worst examples of inept game management I've seen in my 40+ years of watching college football. There is simply no defending it. There are plenty of things I could criticize RR about, but he hasn't done anything that's even remotely as bone-headed as what Miles did tonight. It's hard to make the argument at this point in time, but I still think there's a good chance that we will end up with the better coaching bargain in the long run.

Last night's game was not some kind of anomaly. Miles is a brutal game manager, his clock management is consistently terrible and his late game decision making is insane. You can't argue with success, but I was definitely not on the "bring Miles to Michigan" bandwagon before last year.

Lloyd argued with the refs to get the extra second put back on the clock in '07? LSU said they were calling for the TO and something like 10+ seconds ran off the clock before it was granted to them. Why wasn't Les arguing for that time to be put on the clock?
