Would you be in favor of M Football playing a game @ Comerica Park?
September 15th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Where in the world would the Tigers play? :(
September 15th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
Big house? Big house!
September 15th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Absolutely not. The Tigers are too good right now, we'd get demolished.
Cereally: Absolutely not.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Maybe the Tigers should play at the Big House though.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
No. Not Ford Field, the Silverdome or my backyard, either.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
Are you by chance an environmentalist or environmental lawyer?
September 15th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
Ha! Nope, not a tree hugger. Just worried people would park on my front lawn.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
Oh, so you are Clint Eastwood. Sweet. Welcome.
September 15th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
... NIMBY is a general term used for any time a community doesn't want something built in their neighborhood. For example, a prison, a strip club, a nuclear reactor. Though it was first used to describe the introduction of heavy industry such as chemicals, it really has little to do with environmentalism and everything to do with expected effect on property value and safety.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
and definitely not, going from 114,000 to 41,000 would hurt.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
Um would lose tons of revenue.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
No reason!!!! Its not like the historic value that comes with Wrigley Field or Fenway. Its local so why not just play at the Big House. Obviously substantially smaller. If you're talking about playing on baseball fields (like ND playing at Yankee Stadium) its different. You're trying to reach out to your alums in other parts of the country. That would make sense if we did Yankee Stadium or whatever it is replaced Giants Stadium but not in Detroit.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
I meant in the future in late September or early October.
I think a good opponent would be northwestern. You'd have that detroit-area vs chicago-area game going.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:19 PM ^
why, for the love of god, would you abandon one of the most iconic stadiums in the country (and 74k seats, or roughly $6M in revenue) to go play in a modern baseball park 40 miles down the road????
September 15th, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
I remember my first beer.
September 16th, 2011 at 1:35 AM ^
September 15th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
that's all.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
Let em play at the Joe...that roils be interesting.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Can I yell at the refs to check the goalposts?
September 16th, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
September 15th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
if it was a home game for MSU at comerica/ford field.
ITS THE BIG HOUSE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
that is all.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
No X 1,000,000,000,000,000,etc...
September 15th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
I'd say that's a great idea for the MSU game two years from now.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
No, it doesnt even sound cool
I could be swayed by anything cool and that wouldnt be it
September 15th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
What do you think about the Tigers playing @ the Big House?
September 15th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
Only if it were a preseason scrimmage.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
No.
1. Ryan Field/Memorial Stadium =/= The Big House.
2. Comerica =/= Wrigley.
Northwestern wants to host us at Wrigley? I'll go. But home games should never be played anywhere but the corner of Stadium and Main.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
where the Mud Hens used to play. The outfield fence was wall to wall with local business ads, parking was free, and the beer was cheap. I loved that old dump.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
This would probably have the added benefit of increasing jersey sales in Ohio, so that would be nice.
September 15th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
Good ol' Ned Skeldon. Loved that place when I was a kid, and I was lucky enough to play a game there in high school.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
No. It's not a football stadium. It has no historic value. We don't need gimmicks to drive attendance.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
Seconded
September 15th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
Why don't we just do a home and home with Wayne State? That would be way cooler.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
I love Michigan Stadium games more than anything. Just a suggestion. I'd like to see Michigan maybe play at Yankee Stadium someday because they use to play Army and Navy there back in the 40s and 50s.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
Let's not try to fix it.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
What the hell purpose would it serve, besides losing millions of dollars for the school?
September 15th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
September 15th, 2011 at 10:01 PM ^
The Athletics and Raiders suck
September 16th, 2011 at 7:51 AM ^
didnt candlestick park host a world series the same year the Niners went to the SB?
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
used to hold the record for most football games hosted by a stadium. It took until 2003 for the record to be broken.
Just sayin
September 15th, 2011 at 5:05 PM ^
Big House or nowhere (except when Michigan is away - other teams can cram their fans into whatever they please, so long as we play on a regulation field, unlike Wrigley).
September 15th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
NW v Illini attendance actually went up in the Wrigley game.
The last time they played at NW, 32k people came. At Wrigley, they had 41k. That's over 25% larger attendance WHEN THEY MOVED THE GAME TO A BASEBALL FIELD.
Find me a baseball stadium that seats 150k and we'll talk.
also, it was ridiculous when they could only play in one direction
September 15th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
With Denard's speed, maybe we should schedule a game at MIS. I believe it holds about 150K
September 15th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
Denard would be faster than the cars.
September 15th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
You laugh, but it wasn't that long ago that MSU people were totally biting on the rumor that they wanted to hold a game at MIS merely to blow our attendance record out of the water.
September 15th, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
They still couldn't fill it up.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
Clever attempt to vet your "progressive" Comerica Park idea, Mr. Brandon. Posing as a mgoblog poster, it's genius! I'm all for M football vs. Man U footie at Old Trafford though, with the visitors picking the rules. Get that done.
September 15th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
ha, i thought the exact same thing! i just wish he had done this before allowing michigan and osu to be put into separate divisions.
