Would a win vs. OSU make you feel any better about the season?

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
Just wondering if it might be some salve to the wound if we were to pull the upset against the hated Buckeyes today. Knowing we're still probably losing the NEXT game then. Not will it make you happy about the season, or that the season suddenly becomes a success. But would it at least be a good dessert after a horrible dinner, and make you feel a little better about the experience?

Given that it would be one win closer to a rather improbable tournament bid...yea, I'll take it. It wouldn't hurt that the Buckeyes would be necessarily embarrassed in the process.

Simple answer - Yes. Longer answer - Yes, but better is a relative term. The season has sucked. No other wat to describe it, but it would still suck a bit less to win against our biggest rival than to have them be the team that ends our season.

A win over OSU would be nice and would make us one step closer to the NCAA tourney. Also, losing to us would piss off OSU fans, so that would be nice to think about as well.

If we beat OSU I am considering going to Indy with a few friends to watch us play the winner of Illinois/Wisconsin. Obviously that is a very big if, but you never know with this Michigan team.

For UM's sake, I hope the winner of the Illinois/Sconsin game is Illinois. I feel like Wisconsin matches up to well against Michigan and that they kind of have our number. In response to the OP, yes, I would feel better about the season. I think beating OSU would go a long way in giving UM a shot at an NIT bid - but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

It would be a nice win, and it would be nice to see Michigan play a meaningful CBS basketball game on Saturday even if not the NCAA tourney. But it certainly would not save the season. Number 15 pre-season, come on. I thought at the time that the ranking was little lofty, but I certainly thought they were a tourney team and perhaps a dangerous one at that. This season has been a disaster and one win would not cure that.

Any win is a good win. Whether it takes them closer to a postseason tourney or not every win makes the season even a little better.

Every win makes the season a little better. The record has one more W on it. Would it make this a good season? No, but at this point, only a miracle would do that.

No, it would actually kinda piss me off because it would prove that this team was so much better than their performance this year. But on the other hand, winning 2 out 3 against the top Big Ten team would feel really nice. Consider me bipolar on the topic.

A win against OSU while cathartic in the near term, still puts us at a .500 record. While the NIT doesn't have to take only teams with a above .500 record, it would help to at least be at the break even point to try and get a meaningful post-season run. A win against OSU and a loss the next game puts us back to 1 game under .500. I would take a winning streak and a loss in the Big Ten final, a NIT berth, and a run in that tourney though as a mild salve to the season.

I think a win would make me feel better about the season because it would make us 2-1 in the OSU series this year and push us more step closer to the NIT(which at this point I would love to see UofM in). It doesn't make up for the pitiful performances by any means, but it might be the silver lining of a strong finish where some of young guy develop.

I would welcome a women's curling team to UM if it meant another chance to beat the Buckeyes. This basketball season is a cindered wreck already. A win against OSU would be a nice denouement.

Does a bear shit in the woods? Is the Pope Catholic? Does Charlie Daniels play a mean fiddle? How on earth could beating Ohio State NOT make the season better? Shame on anyone who answers this question in the negative.

The only way I would feel better about this team is if they rallied to win 2 more and make the NIT or pulled off the impossible to win 3 more and go to the NCAA. This season has been an abject failure otherwise.

It would def. help to beat those weirdos. I want to beat them in everything and it brings a smile to my face even if we beat them in a game of uno or badmitten. Lets hope Novac an Douglas can make an open 3 2day. Maybe LLP will step up an score 25..then we will win for sure.

Although I am torn. Part of me never wants to look at this team ever again and part of me wants them to go on win the conference and win the national championship. I didn't even see the Iowa game and got a little depressed looking at the damn boxscore.

Yes, somewhat, as beating OSU is good. But considering we went to the Big Dance last year, not going this year would be a disappointment. A 4-game win streak would have me feeling a LOT better about the season, however.
