Woodson Playing Lights Out

Submitted by jokenjin on
I'm watching the Packers/Cardinals preseason game and man, Woodson looks amazing. He's credited with three tackles (two sacks), three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He could have also had an interception but it ricocheted off a Cardinal and barely made it to him. I hope he does great this year.

I'm hoping that he has enough of a late-career renaissance to make a case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It might require a couple of years at safety to help solidify his case, but I'd love to see it happen.

Charles Woodson is probably the only player who played for the raiders in the late 1990's/early 2000's that can even come close to making that arguement. They were absolutely atrocious, winning 24 games between the 2003-2008 seasons. Woodson was there for 03/04/05; and being on a team THAT bad and getting mentioned for the HoF is impressive in itself.

Nice to know that Charles still has "game"!! Noticed how horrible the Raiders have been since he left them? Not an NFL fan but wish Charles & the Packers well and would cheer for them in the playoffs!!

He's been playing really, really well for the Packers for at least the past two or three years, and I can't help but hope he keeps it up (I'm a lifelong Packers fan, myself). What's amazing is that last season (or maybe the one before), he had an injury, so he practiced once a week and then played, and kicked ass and took names most games. What I'd really like to see is Woodson pick off Favre a couple of times this season.

My friends laughed at me when I predicted he would win the heisman trophy early in the season. That was the first and last time I have ever been right on a bold prediction (wasn't bold imhe).

Does anyone know of Woodson is one of the NFLers who have come back and done workouts with Barwis? I wonder if that has anything to do with his recent success (past two years).

I recall reading that here in past. Along with Woodley and a few others. Breaston did something different this past year with Fitzgerald... akin to Jerry Rice's crazy torture like workouts for WR's.
