Umm, really? I don't follow the NFL much since the Lions always just break my heart, but I'm not sure Woodson is the best CB in the league (top 3 maybe?). When did CB ever get voted as MVP's anyway?

Not sure if you're being sarcastic here, but they are on the same level this year imo. Manning does play a more high profile and important position so he has a better chance to get MVP votes and to effect the game (since he touches the ball on basically every offensive snap) but if you compare them based on their statistics in relation to others who play the same position and their talent levels, they seem very comparable to me.

I respect your opinion but I disagree and it boils down to one thing. Without Woodson maybe the Packers go 8-8. Without Manning, God help the Colts. They probably go 2-14. I am an admitted Colts fan that attended Michigan and I really enjoy watching both of them, but Manning, in my opinion, with the way he is basically consistently one of the top 3 QBs in the league, probably the most aware player ever, and now pretty much the coach of the offense should probably win the award every year in which he plays this well. He is the true definition of MVP. Again, this is no dig at Woodson. He's been amazing this year (and great throughout his career) and should win the DPOY imo.

I think the whole issue rides on whether you take 'Most Valuable Player' literally or whether you interpret it to mean something else. If you truly take it to be the most valuable player to a given team (or the one who could change any franchise for the better), then yeah, it's Manning. Woodson's spectacular, but it's hard for a CB to have that kind of impact, period.

Bull. Revis and Sharper are FAR more one-dimensional than Woodson, and the Oakland CB whose name I won't try to spell had an off year. Woodson is the most complete CB in the league, basically plays safety and LB half the time, and had an unreal season. He kept a defense absolutely decimated by injuries near the top of the league all year. He deserves defensive POY after the season he just had.

well when you touch the ball that many times a game, youre going to have a bigger impact than someone who teams avoid almost a full game every game. Woodson is proving to be the Manning of defense.

Woodson is the best defensive player this year. Revis is the best shut down corner. Woodson has alot of versatility so he has to fill more roles than Revis.

Capers' defense is really innovative, and you'll never see Woodson play a whole game as a traditional CB. Probably not even a whole series. If you watch his goal-line tackle of Rice (or was it McGahee, can't remember?) against the Ravens, you'll appreciate the amount of sheer physical talent he shows, and what he can do near the line of scrimmage. Plus, there's the fact that he's playing like a man possessed at the age of 33, compared to Revis, who is great ... and also 25.
